Daniel Cosgrove helped celebrate five years of The Locher Room when he sat down to discuss his return to daytime TV. I surprised Daniel with a visit from his Guiding Light sister, Emmy-winner Gina Tognoni.Daniel has captivated audiences with his dynamic roles across various soap operas, including: Scott Chandler on All My Children, Matt Durning on Beverly Hills, 90210, Bill Lewis on Guiding Light and Aiden Jennings on Days of Our Lives. Most recently, Daniel joined the cast of General Hospital as Ezra Boyle, a cunning politician who debuted on March 21st. In this role, he reunites with former All My Children co-star Cameron Mathison, bringing a fresh dynamic to the show. Beyond his impressive career, Daniel is one of the funniest and most genuine individuals I've had the pleasure of working with. His charisma and talent have left an indelible mark on daytime television.Don't miss this conversation that was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and a ton of behind-the-scenes stories!

S3 EP 19: Daytime Emmy’s Recap – We’re LIVE!

TV Source Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later May 7, 2019 77:44

In this weeks TV Source Podcast, we go live with our reactions to the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy’s! Who killed it on the red carpet, who won big and who took home someone else’s award? Taped: May 7, 2019Producer: Johnathon K. Hot Topics Yall won. Stephen Nichols is back at DAYS! Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi are also back after a short break. Has the break been too short? Thaao Penghlis spills that he and Leann Hunley will also be back in Salem. Melissa Claire Egan will return to YR like we all expected and Gina Tognoni wraps filming [insert sad face]. Daytime Emmy’s The 46th annual Daytime Emmy Awards hit streaming but didn’t go off without many hitches. Starting with the awkwardness of the red carpet. There were fashion highs and lows and stupid questions from hosts who should have known better. Also, while being seamless last year, this years stream hit a snag. A 20 minute long snag and viewers were left in the dark during 2 major categories. The show did do one thing right, and it was the tributes to the many starts of daytime who have reached milestones in their careers and others who have left us too soon. Guest Performer went so someone who was an actual guest and not a former contract role. So there’s that. Young Actor and Actress is also a source on contention due to what is often perceived as “slim picking,” but not all of us disagreed with Kyler Pettis and Hayley Erin taking home their awards. Supporting Actress went to a WOC but maybe not the one we were rooting for. TVS favorite, Bryton James lost Supporting Actor, but to another worthy contender. While we may be split on who we think should have taken Lead Actress, we are unified on the Lead Actor winner being some ol BS. The Young and the Restless swept the big 3: Writing, Directing and Drama Series and… we’re ok with that. I mean, who doesn’t love a petty win? Mal Young sure didn’t seem to mind! So will these Emmy wins, or more importantly, losses bring change to some of the shows? Also is there any network out there, anyone at all, who can pick up this show and put it back on television where it belongs?   Episodes of the TV Source podcast are available iTunes, Spotify and Google Play. What does this mean for Genoa City and Port Charles? The Young and the Restless and General Hospital have been playing tug of war over actors for years, but how will Frank Valentini retaliate? Or should he? No one among the DC gang wants to see Tognoni take over the role of Nina Cassadine that Stafford is leaving behind. The DC gang then dives into The Young and the Restless recasting Adam Newman with Mark Grossman, recasting the role of Nate Hastings Jr. with Sean Dominic and letting Jason Canela go as Arturo Rosales. On paper, Vivian being buried alive on Days of our Lives looks like it should be entertaining. Find out what Logan thinks of DAYS’ new twist on one of its classic storylines. Many fans have been disappointed with how DAYS has written Crystal Chappell’s Carly Manning since her return. Logan shares his thoughts on why fantastic actresses–like Chappell, Eden Riegel and Gina Tognoni–have been snatched up by various shows without much apparent thought on their character’s development. All My Children has been making some major casting changes with the firing of Adam Mayfield, Brittany Allen and the casting of Daniel Cosgrove and Lindsay Hartley. Logan comments on the AMC casting shakeup and if the show’s move to L.A. has been a success. One Life to Live is bringing back Kim Zimmer as Echo. Will her return help provide Dorian and Viki with more storylines? Luke and Jillian are tired of the Ford brothers dominating air time so they get Logan’s opinion of the Ford Brothers and the Llanview teen set. Brad Bell is tackling a pretty intense topic by giving Stephanie stage four cancer on The Bold and the Beautiful. Can he pull it off? Logan weighs in on the front burner storyline, Scott Clifton as Liam and the new Thomas Forrester. Last time Logan visited the Daytime Confidential podcast, he wasn’t too happy about the state of The Young and the Restless, so the DC crew asks if he thinks things have improved at the No. 1 soap. Jillian and Logan bask in their common love for Nikki Newman. As the podcast winds down, the DC gang wraps things up by asking about the soap genre’s future and they get Logan’s opinion on the web series The Bay and Venice.
