Aaron Sarnecky is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Better Call Saul, but his brother is conspicuously absent. Filling in for Josh is Alex Marcus, Podcast Director of The Pop Break. Alex previously discussed Breaking Bad with Aaron. Better Call Saul is a legal crime drama created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It is a spinoff of Breaking Bad. It premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015. The show ran for six seasons and a total of 63 episodes. It ended on August 15, 2022. The show had a short-lived animated prequel on AMC+, entitled Slippin' Jimmy. The series chronicles the evolution of small-time attorney Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) into the morally corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad. It also reveals Saul's future living under an assumed name. Other returning characters include his eventual fixer Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) and drug distributor Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). New characters include Jimmy's romantic interest Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), his brother Chuck (Michael McKean), Chuck's legal partner Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian), drug dealer Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), and cartel leader Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton). Like Breaking Bad, many critics consider Better Call Saul one of the greatest television shows of all time. Some even hail it as better. It was nominated for 53 Emmy Awards with no wins (a record for nominations without a win). Nominations included Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Aaron and Alex chat about their exposure to Better Call Saul before going into the two-night series premiere, the general plot, the performances, the connections to Breaking Bad, and the series finale. They also ponder the potential for another show set in the Breaking Bad universe. For a podcast on another prestigious TV series, you can listen to Aaron and Josh talk about Game of Thrones. Better Call Saul is streaming on Netflix.

Thaao Penghlis is not only a very famous television and soap opera actor, but he is also a writer, an author, and a podcast host, too. Thaao has been on several tv shows throughout his career with his big break coming in 1981 playing Victor Cassadine on General Hospital. He was also on the network television show, Mission: Impossible. Of course, he is best known for playing the dual character roles of twin cousins, Tony and Andre DiMera on Days of Our Lives. Thaao has appeared on the show on and off now for 5 decades and has won several awards in his career, including twice for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Leann is also a very famous and television soap opera actress that started in 1977 with an appearance on the tv show, Hawaii Five-O, and throughout her career she has appeared on many network television shows, including one I just saw again the other with a special guest role on an episode of Matlock in 1990 called, “The Talk Show.” Like Thaao, she is probably best known for her character on Days of Our Lives, Anna DiMera, which she has played starting in 1982. Just 4 years into her career on the show, Leann won an Emmy Award at the 13th Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She also starred in the hit tv series ‘Dynasty' for three seasons, one of my favorite shows as a teenager, as part of the infamous Carrington family. She also had major roles on the shows ‘Dawson's Creek' and ‘Gilmore Girls' too
Today, I'm chatting with Emmy Award winner Kevin Spirtas about the debut of season 3 of his 6-time Emmy Award-winning digital series, After Forever. The show stars Kevin as Brian and Mitchell Anderson (Doogie Howser, Party of Five) as Jason, a "50-ish" gay couple living in New York City who appear to have it all -- until Jason's untimely death from cancer forces Brian to think about his future and ultimately his mortality, without the love of his life. Season three finds Brian exploring therapy as a means to help him move through his grief while he also attempts to address the idea of dating again. I've known Kevin since our early days pursuing acting in New York City when he was featured in several Broadway productions, including A Chorus Line, Meet Me in St. Louis, and was the official standby for Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz. Along the way, daytime TV fans came to know Kevin through his long-running role on Days of Our Lives as “Dr. Craig Wesley.” In 2014, Kevin ran into former Days Of Our Lives writer Michael Slade in a New York gym. Eager to create their own opportunities, the two set out to create a series about gay men over 50. In 2019, After Forever—Season 1 made history by becoming the most Emmy-awarded LGBTQ-themed drama series on any platform. Kevin received an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Digital Drama, along with three additional Emmys that he shares with Michael Slade for Outstanding Digital Drama Series 2019 and Outstanding Writing Team for a Digital Drama in 2019 and 2020. The series was also honored with a special recognition award in 2021 by the GLAAD Media Awards. Season 3 of After Forever is available now on Vimeo. Head over to https://afterforevertheseries.com for links to the new episodes. Season 1 and 2 are available on Amazon Prime Video and Dekkoo.

He may be an actor, broadway star, and producer, but that doesn't mean he is immune from the every day challenges of love, fame, and loss. In this candid interview, Kevin Spirtas shares insights of being a gay man in limelight and how he learned to unhide himself. About Kevin KEVIN SPIRTAS has become one of Hollywood's most watched talents. From Broadway Star, to TV Heartthrob… From his humble beginnings on Broadway at age 18 in A Chorus Line, to ‘standby' for Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz— Spirtas is most recognized around the world for his eight year stint as Dr. Craig Wesley from NBC/peacock Daytime Drama: Days of Our Lives, as well as the cult classic film sequels: Friday the 13th – Part VII: The New Blood, and Wes Craven's: The Hills Have Eyes – Part II. Before departing the soap in 2000, Spirtas had great fun playing his DAYS character opposite Matt LeBlanc's ‘Dr. Drake Ramory' on FRIENDS: The One That Could Have Been- Part 1. In 2008 the 30-year acting veteran produced the NY Shakespeare Festival reading-presentation of Don Cummings': A Good Smoke, starring Academy Award winning actress, Meryl Streep, and directed by Tony Award winning director, Pam McKinnon. Shortly thereafter in 2009, Spirtas made his debut as a Broadway producer on the critically acclaimed revival of Finian's Rainbow, and in 2012 he co-produced the hit Broadway musical: Priscilla…Queen of the Desert. As Spirtas' success as a Broadway producer blossomed, and grew, his passion for acting, never stopped. In 2014, after running into Days Of Our Lives alum, Michael Slade in a New York gym, the two set out to create the critically acclaimed 6 x Emmy Award Winning Digital Drama Series: AFTER FOREVER… A story about love, loss, and new beginnings. Well get this, it has been Emmy nominated 24 times from Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series to “drum roll” Outstanding Picture Editing For A Drama Series - I spoke with Emmy nominated editors Emily Mendez and Timothy Good, ACE for their incredible work for The Last of Us. No other show this past television season felt as pertinent as "Station Eleven," considering it's a miniseries about a pandemic and was in the middle of shooting when its production was forced to pause due to the actual COVID-19 pandemic. The HBO Max miniseries is now nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Himesh Patel. Himesh was kind enough to spend a few minutes talking with us about what it was like working on the show, how he felt about his Emmy nomination, what it was like becoming a father during production, his feelings towards his leading role in Danny Boyle's "Yesterday" and if he would like to one day tackle the iconic role of James Bond. We hope you enjoy the conversation. Thank you. Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... "Moon Knight" premiered on Disney+ on March 30th, releasing one episode a week as it introduced audiences to the characters of Steven Grant and Mark Spector, both brilliantly played by Oscar Isaac in one of his finest performances to date. Oscar was kind enough to spend some time talking about how he got the dual-role superhero character, what it was like acting opposite himself, which of the two characters he prefers playing, and more. Be sure to take a listen down below and check out the show if you haven't yet to see Oscar's stunning work, which has him in the hunt for an Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie nomination at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards. StoryShots Audiobook Summary and Analysis of Greenlights by Matthew McConaugheyAbout Matthew McConaugheyMatthew McConaughey is an American actor and producer from Texas. He was sprung into the limelight in his mid-20s during his breakout supporting performance in Dazed and Confused (1993). Since then, he has had a career of almost 30 years, starring in some of the biggest movies. McConaughey won an Oscar in 2013 for his portrayal in Dallas Buyers Club of Ron Woodroof, a cowboy diagnosed with AIDS. The following year, he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his starring role in True Detective. IntroductionGreenlights is a collection of Mathew McConaughey's journals from the past 36 years. He had put off delving into these journals for many years but he decided it was finally time to take himself and the journals to a desert with no electricity. Here is where he wrote Greenlights, which he calls an ‘approach book.' By re-reading the thousands of pages held in these journals, McConaughey relived the core values that brought him success and happiness. Greenlights is filled with people and experiences and is described by McConaughey as an aspirational book. The Making of GreenlightsMcConaughey has been writing a journal for a total of 36 years. Greenlights offered him an opportunity to read back through these journals and recall the fantastic adventures he has had along the way. Additionally, McConaughey wanted to be entirely focused on this memoir. So, he spent part of his writing period in the middle of the desert with no electricity. Specifically, he spent 12 days without electricity and another 40 in the desert with a small generator. NOTE: This episode was first published in January 2021 but was updated in January 2022.

Post By: Adam Turteltaub Ted Lasso has been a pandemic streaming success story. The show stars Jason Sudeikis as an American college football coach hired to lead a troubled English soccer (football) club. Unlike the typically-portrayed coach, barking out orders and all about winning, Ted is an empathetic person, who wears his heart on his sleeve, looks for the best in people, and does his best to bring it out of everyone. That's not always easy given the personalities that surround him. The team's owner is engaged in a personal vendetta. One star player is self-obsessed, another is arguably the angriest person in the world. The show has been a runaway success, with the public, critics and the press. It has earned 20 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and two nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. For those of us working in compliance and ethics, the show is a great watch, not just for its entertainment value. It contains several lessons on creating the right organizational culture, and how to engage people in discussions of right and wrong. In this podcast I sit down with Bill Wrubel, Executive Producer of the series who, not surprisingly for a show about working as a team, gives the credit to others including Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Bill Lawrence, and, of course, Jason Sudeikis, who wanted the show to have meaning and be something beyond laughter. Fittingly, when Bill interviewed for the job, Sudeikis asked him if he had any mentors in his career and to tell him about them. Sudeikis drew heavily from his own experiences in the entertainment industry, Bill shares. From his years working in improv he learned that success is the product of team work. You are as dependent upon what others are doing as what you are doing. From writing for SNL, under Tina Fey's leadership, he had learned from her habit of listening to all the voices in the room, not just the loud ones, and to recognize that everyone had a contribution to make. You can see that in the show, when Coach Lasso encourages the players to speak their mind, and also, notably, when he chooses to listen, not escalate confrontations, and be forgiving. What may surprise many is that the writers regularly talked about and read books on leadership. They saw that not everything flows from the top and that great leadership comes from openness. “Be curious not judgmental” is an oft-quoted line from the show. Listen in to the podcast, and then enjoy Ted Lasso. Then watch it one more time (if you haven't watched it already) for the lessons about how to create a culture that encourages growth and openness. The setting is an English football club, but the lessons can apply to compliance and ethics program everywhere.

Join me as I chat with the Emmy Award winning creators of the Amazon Prime Video digital series, 'After Forever.' 'After Forever' stars Kevin Spirtas (Dr. Craig Wesley on Days of Our Lives) and Mitchell Anderson (Doogie Howser, Party of Five) as a mid-life gay couple living in New York City who appear to have it all — until Jason's untimely death forces Brian to think about his own future and ultimately his own mortality, without the love of his life. As Brian puts his life back together, Jason periodically appears to help him focus on his new life and moving on, most notably with his new boyfriend. Spritas co-created and co-wrote the series with acclaimed playwright Michael Slade. 'After Forever' also stars several familiar faces from TV, film and Broadway stages like Colleen Zenk (As the World Turns), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), Anita Gillette, Mary Beth Peil and Tony Award winner Cady Huffman. The lauded series features a diverse group of characters who find their way through life's constant changes, including relationships, love, and loss, in an often overlooked group - the mature gay man. As Michael Slade told The Advocate, “We as gay men, after we're no longer 35, we tend to disappear from popular culture until we're Christopher Plummer — asexual down the hall with a cat.” The writing process was also cathartic for Slade, whose partner, Richard, died of cancer several years ago. Season One of 'After Forever' was nominated for 8 Emmy Awards and won five including Outstanding Digital Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Digital Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. And Season Two has already been nominated for 10 Indie Series Awards including Best Drama Series, Best Ensemble Drama Series and a slew of acting, writing and directing nods as well. Hit play as I chat (and laugh) with two very talented men. For more info about the show, click over to afterforevertheseries.com.
