The Lord Jesus reversed the perceptions of the disciples, teaching them that giving is a window into our hearts.-1. Some people make a big production about giving a lot, yet they remain quite comfortable, having a lot left over. -v.41--2. Other people quietly and joyfully give to God sacrificially, knowing that God will take care of them. -v.42--3. Jesus sees why we give. -v.43-44--How much was God's gift to us-- 2 Cor 9-15 -What religion is pure and undefiled before God-- James 1-27-Who is rich towards God-- Luke 12-21, James 2-5-Where does God look when measuring-- 1 Sam. 16-7, Mt. 6-21
In this exhortation, Pastor Mike Polley exhorts us, from Proverbs 23:26, to give God our hearts and observe His ways. Our heavenly Father is inviting us to give our hearts to him, which is the only way to understand God's ways, and the best way to start is to give our sins to God.
Once we've committed to giving to the church on a regular basis, naturally one of the first questions we always ask… “How much?” If I want to follow Christ faithfully, does it mean that I can only do that if I give God 10% of my money? The good news is absolutely not! God doesn't require you to give 10% of your money, that's too easy… He wants 100% of your heart first and foremost. - Pastor Arek O'ConnellSupport the show
Thank you for tuning in. How can you give your heart to God if the heart can be deceitfully wicked? I will give you the answer from a biblical perspective and God Truth momentarily, but first let's read together Jeremiah 17:9-10 (NKJV). “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. Secondly, let's read Matthew 22:37-40 KJV 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. Thirdly, now ask yourself this question if you and I are commanded to love the Lord with all our hearts as stated in Matthew 22 verse 37, how can this be accomplished if our hearts can be deceitfully wicked as noted in Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV? Let me give you the answer in correlation to God's Word. Leaning not on your own understanding allows God's Word to direct your path and spiritually embellish your heart. I will read Proverbs Chapter 3 verses 5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Fourthly, putting on the whole armor of God will protect you from anything that will try to deter your mind, heart, soul and spirit away from Christ (Ephesians 6:11-18). Fifthly, you cannot live by bread alone, you need God's Word to spiritually feed your heart, mind, soul, and spirit (Read Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4). Sixth——ly, Therefore we should offer our bodies up as a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing unto the Lord. Read Romans 1:12 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Seventhly, confess any sin in your life with Godly sorrow so that you won't become complacent with anything that could deceive, distract, and distance you away from God and His Will for your life. I will share two Bible verses with you to confirm what I am saying (1 JOHN 1:9 NKJ) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I will also read 2 Corinthians 7:10 (KJV) 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death). Lastly, remember to stay rooted, anchored, and grounded in Christ and your sufficiency is in Him not you because He abideth faithful even through the most doubtful, challenging, and difficult times of our lives. 2 Timothy 2:13 “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” This will conclude my podcast for today. On Christmas Day 2020 we lost the greatest flat top flat picker of all time, the incredible Tony Rice. I've been obsessed with Tony's music since the first time I came across it and immediately set to work putting together a tribute to this legend. He was a huge inspiration for me and all of my contemporaries and I am so grateful to Shawn Lane, Lyndsay Pruett, and Jon Stickley for helping me produce this career retrospective. The world says "Follow Your Heart" but the Bible can be summed up to say "Give Your Heart to Jesus and Follow Him." Which is it in your life? Which is it in the lives of those entrusted to you? This decision affects everything, and it's a daily choice. In this podcast, Tosha shares a story from her life where she took back her heart from Jesus. This story reflects the reality that, sometimes, we love what we want more than we love Him. Season 2: Episode 10 Billy Steinberg Welcome to Season 2, Episode 10 of Song Chronicles. Our special guest is Songwriter Hall of Fame member Billy Steinberg, who with collaborator Tom Kelly wrote many Number 1 hits including "Like a Virgin" by Madonna, "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper, "So Emotional" by Whitney Houston, "Alone" by Heart, and "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles. The duo also co-wrote "I'll Stand By You" with Chrissie Hynde and "I Touch Myself" with Christine Amphlett and Mark McEntee of The Divinyls. Billy Steinberg and Cyndi Lauper in Finland, 1988. Billy's first hit song was "How Do I Make You," which Linda Ronstadt decided to record after hearing demos from Steinberg's band Billy Thermal. In our conversation, Billy shares how he found out Rondstadt would record the song which later reached the Billboard Top 10. Billy Thermal's unreleased 1980 album In 1981, Steinberg began a momentous collaboration with songwriter Tom Kelly, with whom he wrote many memorable hits of the 80s and 90s. Billy shares how he and Tom found their groove as co-writers and how they always tried to write to make themselves happy rather than customizing songs for potential artists. Their breakout hit was "Like A Virgin," the title track of Madonna's second album. You'll hear Billy's personal story behind the lyrics to "Like A Virgin" and what it meant for him to hear the song sung by an Italian nun, directed at God. Billy Steinberg, Tom Kelly, and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, 1992. Steinberg's lyrics resonate throughout the years because their themes are universal — which is different from being general or bland, as we discuss. We also talk about how the Brill Building Era inspired him to become a songwriter. Billy has gone on to write with many other songwriters, including frequent collaborator Josh Alexander with whom he co-write "Give Your Heart a Break" by Demi Lovato and "Too Little Too Late" by Jojo. They have also written numerous songs with the artist LP, whom Steinberg calls "a female Roy Orbison." Billy Steinberg and LP Enjoy this interview with Billy Steinberg on what makes songs that stand the test of time.

In today's podcast, Maria discusses why you want to give your heart a lift (instead of taking it for a ride all the time like some people do). What does it mean giving it a lift, anyway? It's also about the best and most effective FREE pill available in the market that helps to strengthen your heart, body, and mind. It amazes me how many people choose NOT to do it. I wonder if that's because is FREE? It doesn't have to be free and I do paying professionals to personalize it to meet your goals and needs. Tune in to learn what this pill is, how your heart benefits from it, and how important this lift is to your overall health. P.S. Check out the transcript to access sources/citations for the show. ______________

It’s Theme Thursday! And today we’re looking at “Famous Sayings That Aren’t In The Bible.” There’s a phrase that’s popular among today’s Christians that you won’t find in the Bible: “Give Your Heart To Jesus.” It sounds spiritual enough but it puts the spotlight in the wrong place. The focus of the Gospel is not that you and I have given our heart to Jesus. The Good News is that Jesus has given His life for us.
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there! We rolled two episodes into one here, starting with Zac Wilkerson, followed by Brian Johannesen. HOW DARE THEY do this to me?! When someone didn't treat you the way you deserve, how do you pick yourself up, move on from the resentment, and keep going forward as your best self? Whether you're wondering how to get over a breakup or how to move on from a bad job where you gave it your all and life slapped you in the face, this question that one of the members in my Dreamers community sent over might fully resonate. This split-up and breakup advice is especially helpful for idealists - ENFPs, INFPs, INFJs, and ENFJs, who have the best intentions giving their all in their relationships and might end up bitter and heartbroken when not reciprocated. Full question: "How do I get rid of old resentment from my previous job? I was overworked, underpaid, and underrecognized for my efforts for 3 and a half years. I left because there was no way around this. But instead of getting on with my life, I keep thinking about this a**holes and getting really angry at the way I was treated. This, of course, is filtering into my new job because I'm afraid to give my everything under the assumption that these people will do the same to me. I feel like this is holding me back and now I'm struggling to get things done." And Samuel said to all the house of Israel, -If you are returning to the LORD with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you and direct your heart to the LORD and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.- -4- So the people of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and they served the LORD only. -5- Then Samuel said, -Gather all Israel at Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you.- -6- So they gathered at Mizpah and drew water and poured it out before the LORD and fasted on that day and said there, -We have sinned against the LORD.- And Samuel judged the people of Israel at Mizpah

Today's episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday is all about fulfilling your goals and ambitions – the key word being fulfilling. That's right, we take those dreams right out of your head and make them come alive. My guest today is SuperMum, Victoria Kate. Vicky and her 9 year old son Finley live just a stone's throw from the beautiful beach in Bournemouth, on the south coast of England. Vicky is living proof that our dreams really can come true as she follows her life long passion to work for herself as a Life Coach whilst looking out from her desk to the sea. And after 24 years of having the dream of being an author in her head, she is finially writing the book that she's always wanted. Today, Vicky will ‘give your heart eyes', as she so eloquantly puts it. One of the foundation stones to this is learning to understand what your goals really are and making them your own. Not what your family, or your partner or society think your goals should be. Just you. This way, when you attain them, you'll finally be truely fufilled, rather than left cold and wanting the next big thing. Through the use of positive thinking and visual images Vicky will step us through the process of how to be successful in achieving everything our heart desires, and not be restricted by limiting beliefs. Using the metaphore of a lighthouse, Vicky will teach us how, as a mother, it's important to keep our own light shining strong and bright so we can light the way for our children rather than casting dark shadows behind us and letting them find their own way. You can find the full write up from this episode including the Show Notes at www.Lisa-York.com/011 Go Conquer Motherhood!

After Linda Ronstadt scored a Top 10 hit with Billy Steinberg’s “How Do I Make You” in 1980, he went on to score a series of chart-topping singles co-written with Tom Kelly, including “Like a Virgin” by Madonna, “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper, “Alone” by Heart, "So Emotional" by Whitney Houston, and “Eternal Flame” by the Bangles. Additional Top 10 hits from the Steinberg/Kelly songbook include “In Your Room” by the Bangles, “I Touch Myself” by Divinyls, “I’ll Stand By You” by The Pretenders, and “I Drove All Night,” which was a major international hit three different times, first by Cyndi Lauper, then by Roy Orbison, and, finally, by Celine Dion. After Tom Kelly retired from the music business, Steinberg partnered with Rick Nowels, with whom he won a Grammy for their work on the title track to Celine Dion’s multiplatinum Falling Into You album in 1996. Since the mid-2000s, Billy has written extensively with Josh Alexander, with whom he penned JoJo's Top 5 pop hit "Too Little Too Late" and Demi Lovato’s “Give Your Heart a Break." Additionally, the pair partnered with songwriter/producer – and previous Songcraft guest - Toby Gad for Nicole Scherzinger's #1 UK chart-topper "Don't Hold Your Breath.” Other artists who’ve contributed to Steinberg’s long list of Billboard charting singles include Pat Benatar, Tina Turner, Susanna Hoffs, Chicago, Bette Midler, Ace of Base, Phil Collins, Katharine McPhee, Carrie Underwood, and many others. Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011.
