This case serves as a cautionary tale for Queer people dating in the digital age. Stephen Port was a disturbed man who gained the trust and lured multiple men to his home in London through various gay dating apps such as Grindr. Once at his house, he would drug the men in order to have his way with them. It would take years of begging and pleading from various family members of his victims before police finally acted and captured a Serial Killer. In the first serving of this all new True Crime Pairing, Christopher and Eric head across the pond and into the twisted mind of one of Britain's most notorious serial killers, Stephen Port. In "How The Police Missed The Grindr Killer" — the BBC doc is available on You Tube here in the United States — we learn how Port claimed the innocent lives of several young queer men before playing sadistic mind games with their grieving relatives. But would this nightmare have come true for so many if not for the complete incompetence of the local police? Was it homophobia or bigoted stereotyping or just disorganized unprofessional bureaucracy? Find out in this and next week's episode, when we serve up "The Barking Murders" aka “Four Lives”, a dramatized limited series based on the case.
Emily and Andrea go back to their Mainer roots this episode to discuss the case of AT through-hiker, Gerry Largay, who disappeared in the Maine wilderness. Emily also discusses the latest development on a case she came face-to-face with during her travels to Spain: a serial killer who has only just recently been apprehended.
In the third episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Stephen Port, dubbed by the media as "The Grindr Killer".Between June 2014 and September 2015, Stephen used online dating sites such as Grindr, Sleepyboy.com and FitLads to meet young, gay men whom he drugged, sexually assaulted and killed.Despite systematic failings by the local police force, Stephen was finally caught and arrested in October 2015 and was handed a Whole Life Order by Mr Justice Openshaw on November 25, 2016.The 'Grindr Killer' case is very controversial regarding how the police handled the investigations into the deaths of Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor. The police initially disregarded their respective deaths as being non-suspicious when, in fact, Stephen Port had murdered them all.The link below provides guidance information and links to services and guidance for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in the UK:https://www.gov.uk/guidance/advice-and-support-for-lgbt-peopleFor all things British Murders, please visit my website:https://www.britishmurders.com/Intro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusicMy recording equipment:Shure SM7B Vocal MicrophoneCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio InterfaceRode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom ArmRecorded in:Hindenberg PROEdited in:DaVinci Resolve 17References:www.britishmurders.com/stephenport/ Learn more about your ad choices. The way police forces in England investigate unexplained deaths is to change in response to a "large number of very serious and very basic investigative failings" during the investigation into the serial killer Stephen Port. Four new categories are to be made "to provide absolute clarity to officers", the Metropolitan Police and the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) have said.Journalist Simon Ford and ex-serious crime detective Jacques Morrell, discuss the implications.

Helen Anderson and Danni Howard take a look into the horrible crimes of Stephen Port, The Grindr Killer. After masquerading as a graduate from Oxford University, a member of the armed forces, and even a special needs teacher on online dating site Grindr, Stephen Port evaded police for months, going on a sick killing spree that spread fear and shock throughout the LGBTQ+ community. Expect ridiculous police failings, harrowing tales from the victims' families and the incredible story of how one family's determination to see justice solved the case. Even as the government and royal family collapses, we continue to distract ourselves with the latest media. James checks out The Tourist, the tale of Jamie Dornan in an ill-fated trip to Australia, and Hype House, the reality show full of Tik Tok stars that is a sad reminder of the absolute state of society. Dan reviews acclaimed "Grindr Killer" drama Four Lives, and with a mix of admiration and disgust, discusses Inside Dubai: Playground of the Rich. To pad out the runtime, we reveal our most anticipated films of 2022, and make fun of the Golden Globes debacle. Finally unleashed on UK screen, Titane is the main review. Listen in awe as your hosts stumble through a discussion about grief, shame, masculinity, and mechanophilia.
It started with the unexplained deaths of four young, gay men, whose bodies were found in Barking, East London. It led to the conviction of Stephen Port, whose warped fantasies drove him to administer lethal doses of the date-rape drug, GHB. But the case of the Grindr Killer is far from over, with calls for a Public Enquiry into allegations of institutionalised homophobia at the Metropolitan Police. But why did the 'catalogue of errors' come about? How were crucial errors made? Were processes, not people, to blame? In this podcast, former major crime detective, Jacques Morrell, and journalist, Simon Ford, examine the evidence.
A listener tried to help out two girls with car trouble at his work and they reported him to HR for being a creep. If you use the dating app, Grindr, beware of killers. In light of Pride Month, Yergy and Drewby travel to the Barking district of East London, UK, to discuss the case of a serial killer that targeted young gay men on various dating platforms, only to have the authorities brush their cases under the rug and ignore deaths that were very clearly linked. This week, Tom and Ben return to England in order to cover their third “whole-lifer” in the form of the deeply sinister ‘Grindr Killer’: Stephen Port. Were all of Port’s victims accidental and simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? What obvious (and numerous) red flags did East London police clearly ignore? For what reason did Port have so many different online personas? Why did Port place each of the bodies in exactly the same location and position? And just how many more victims are known to have been approached or attacked by Port? Happy New Year! In the summer of 2014, just as the nation was cheering England on in the FIFA World Cup, one man’s obsession with chemsex and so-called ‘unconscious’ pornography was about to collide with horrific consequences. Within 15 months, four young men would be dead at the hands of this predator and the police, whose reputation would lie in tatters, would announce the re-examination of 58 unexplained deaths in the proceeding four years, all linked to this sexual deviant. This is the case of Stephen Port – also known as the Grindr Killer – a serial killer who stalked the gay community of Barking in East London – a killer who, had it not been for the perseverance of his victims’ friends and family, would most likely still be out there, drugging, raping and murdering his way through London’s gay scene.
