Every day it seems I witness young kids playing online and I wonder if the adult in their lives have any idea the danger that child is in. Most parents that hand a young child a device mean well and they say to themselves, "I will keep an eye on them" and "I am sure my child will tell me if something is wrong". It is well meaning and they are not bad parents. However, few parents understand how pedophiles access, groom and seduce our young kids into participating in online sex games. Recently, Million Kids highlighted a case of a 31-year-old pedophile who had exploited more than 60 young girls between the ages of 9 and 12. He used fake images, made himself look like a young girl and he convinced them to send him videos or sexual images that mirrored the sexually graphic images he had sent to the girls. Pedophiles often send young kids (both boys and girls) videos of kids playing house or sex games, and young kids giggle and find it funny. Trust me, it is a natural response to young kids. Young kids are cute and funny and they want everyone to love them and like them. AND THEY ARE VERY GOOD AT USING TECHNOLOGY! So they make a video just like the one they received and send it off to their new found friend. That means that the first sexual encounter these young victims have will be one of exploitation and it will change their lives for ever. No only can they not get the image back - EVER-, they have experienced child pornography long before they are old enough to understand what a healthy sexual relationship between adults should be about. There are many healthy choices for online interaction that does not need to make your child available to predators online. Go to Millionkids.org/resources for suggestions. Thank you for listening. Please follow us at MillionKids.org and share this podcast with everyone who has a young child.
Today, I'm sharing something deeply personal and serious—my stalker story. For over a year, Timothy C. (we can share his full name soon if need be) has been physically stalking me, and his digital harassment goes back even further. Law enforcement is now involved, but I wanted to update you all in case anything happens to me—so there's no question about who did it. This episode isn't just about my experience; it's also about the reality of stalking, the dangers of obsession, and the importance of taking threats seriously. Stay aware, stay safe, and let's talk about it all, shall we?—https://noblegoldinvestments.com
Gabrielle Crichlow from A Step Ahead Tutoring Services and Amber Hawkins from Your Computer Needs of Toledo LLC came together in this webinar to ask a question:Parents — Are you aware of today's dangers of social media?Dangers known and unknown equate to fear. In the case of social media, just getting on it can be interpreted as a form of fear. There's everything from understanding the different social media sites to knowing if your children are safe as they navigate them. Everything from scamming to cyberbullying has gotten not only more sophisticated but has become bolder. If that's not more on a parent's plate, there's dealing with artificial intelligence (AI for short). As a parent, this question of “Am I really aware of today's dangers of social media?” is more evident. During this webinar, let's begin the process of knowing today's dangers of social media and what it takes to lessen them.Your Computer Needs of Toledo, LLC's Contact Information:On the web: https://www.yourcomputerneeds.netOn Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YCNOTLLC05On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/YCNOTLLC05On LinkedIn (personal): https://www.linkedin.com/in/ycnotllc05On LinkedIn (business): https://www.linkedin.com/company/ycnotllc05?trk=public_profile_topcard-current-companyOn TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/YCNOTLLC05On X: https://www.twitter.com/YCNOTLLC05On Pinterest: https://bit.ly/33bU2V0On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/YCNOTLLC05The YCNOTLLC05 Online Computers & Accessories Store: https://www.amazon.com/shop/YCNOTLLC05The special for online and e-mobile computer training: https://the-ycnotllc05-computer-training-center.thinkific.com/Discount on virtual computer consulting: https://my.setmore.com/bookingpage/6ebe645c-ac16-4cb1-afa4-5c7ad5cdee3d/services/s59faa521b5835f1dd518ea5176ad90077ccc03d2Watch this event on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ay7djKnBlooRate this event on IMDB: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt33037817/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk********************************************Follow A Step Ahead Tutoring Services:On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/astepaheadtutoringservicesOn Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/astepaheadtutoringservicesOn X: https://www.x.com/ASATS2013On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@astepaheadtutoringservicesOn TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@asats2013On Eventbrite: https://astepaheadtutoringservices.eventbrite.comVisit our website: https://www.astepaheadtutoringservices.comSign up for our email list: https://squareup.com/outreach/a41DaE/subscribeSign up for our text list: https://eztxt.s3.amazonaws.com/534571/widgets/61fc686d8d6665.90336120.htmlCheck out our entire "Hot Topics!" podcast: https://www.astepaheadtutoringservices.com/hottopicspodcastSupport us:Cash App: https://cash.app/$ASATS2013PayPal: https://paypal.me/ASATS2013Venmo: https://venmo.com/u/ASATS2013Zelle: success@astepaheadtutoringservices.comYou can also become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/hot-topics--5600971/support Original date of episode: June 25, 2024

Parents, today I want to give you a heads-up and issue a warning which I hope motivates you to track with the latest developments in digital technology and the way in which these developments might undermine the well-being of our kids. You're no doubt aware that Virtual Reality and the Metaverse here to stay and will be advancing quickly in the years to come. Based on the fact that online victimization of children and teens is a well-known reality in today's digital world, experts are now working to catch and address what victimization will look like in the metaverse and through virtual reality. Researchers at Florida Atlantic University has found that a significant percentage of teens who engage with these technologies have reported encountering hate speech, bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, grooming behaviors from predators, and unwanted exposure to violent or sexually explicit content. Parents, you are the gatekeepers. Always monitor use, educate for safety, and set limits.

There's something about just hearing the word pedophile that makes the hair stand up on the back of our necks. We wonder how there can be people out there who actually take the time to carefully approach and groom kids into situations where they sexually assault and exploit innocent and unsuspecting children. The folks at Defend Young Minds are now warning parents to be aware of the many places and ways that predators engage our kids in the world of gaming apps. Specifically, these predators are using the chat features in a variety of games, including Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite, which are all games played by a younger crowd. After the initial grooming takes place, the predators then move the conversations to different messaging apps, thereby keeping parents out of the loop. Parents, you need to know that where kids play, predators are playing as well. Talk to your kids about the dangers, monitor their online time, and be sure to use parental controls.
Today Jan is joined by John Doe who is here to talk to us about the dangers of internet predators and how they groom children and teens online. He uses the stages of grooming to illustrate how pedophiles target and build trust with their victims. John also gives us helpful tips on what to look out for as parents and caregivers to know when we should intervene. This episode is sponsored by Betterhelp Online Therapy. Sergeant Mike Harris sits down to guide us through how online sex crimes against children has changed over the years, ways in which we can start having honest and prevention based conversations with the kids in our lives, and the impact that time and space has on how our stories develop. Believing a survivor is not just about believing their first out cry, it is knowing that their story will change and over time. It is our duty as the listener to continue to believe them through every adaptation, and Mike is here to ground us in how that reality tends to play out. Mike has been in law enforcement since 1979. He worked patrol SWAT, undercover narcotics, canine and in '91, he started working in crimes against children. In '96, he ventured into the online side of things and started using technology to lure sexual predators away from children online. He's been working as a detective against child online sex crimes for decades and was the creator of CHEEZO, a police unit focused on tracking predators, educating children on what to look out for and providing resources for parents.
