On the 60th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, comic, musician from the Ace Frehley Tribute Band, "Ack!" and host of the podcast, Another FN Podcast, Izzy Presley, to review the 1987 breakthrough album from The Cult, "Electric." Electric was The Cult's third studio album. The band recorded twelve new tracks for album to be tentatively called Peace. When they brought the album to legendary Hip-Hop producer, Rick Rubin, they decided to re-record the songs with Rub at the helm. What they came up with is a whole new sound for the band. Rubin took advantage of the band's talent and created a sound which would become their signature. The band went from goth rock to hard rock. A stripped down ACDC type of music led by charismatic frontman, Ian Astbury with his unique vocals, blistering guitar riffs by guitarist Billy Duffy and a rhythm section of Jamie Stewart on bass and Les Warner killing it on drums. The lyrics were written by Astbury & Duffy with the exception of the cover song. The album went to number 38 on US Billboard charts and eventually platinum. Songs like Wild Flower, Lil' Devil and Love Removal Machine have become rock radio staples and this album broke The Cult in the US and onto more mainstream success. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was the Patreon pick. See what gets discussed more, Rubin's production, Duffy's riffs, the similarity between songs or Izzy's poor music taste... My guest Max Frye fronts the band Lost Hearts. He and his bandmates have a pop sensibility with a big rock sound. Max comes across as humble and grounded, possibly because he's worked with many musicians who are more experienced than himself. This is an experience we share. Lost Hearts formed earlier this year and thus consider themselves a very new band. At their core, the band members are working musicians that have played in plenty of cover and tribute bands. They now perform and tour as an original band, although they still mix in some of their favorite covers. In this episode, Max shares the story of how the band came to be, and their early days of songwriting together. We also talk about the band's recent interview on Izzy Presley's Another FN Podcast, which brought them to the attention of heavy metal champion and broadcaster Eddie Trunk, performing unreleased music, his views on pop and big choruses, release strategy, their record label search, lessons learned as a working musician, merch, the upcoming Lost Hearts performance at the Tacos & Tequila Festival in Lubbock Texas, and working toward the next level. Please enjoy my conversation with Max Frye. Support the Unstarving Musician The Unstarving Musician exists solely through the generosity of its listeners, readers, and viewers. It has been more than a year since our last chat with the podcast's annual guest, and the latest conversation goes off the rails a bit, but it was a lot of fun for both parties. A lot has changed since we last talked with Izzy, and this episode is very different from every interview we've ever done with the rock and roll prodigal son from Minnesota.

It's the season finale, really. Unless it's not. It's time to move forward with season 6, but not before a brief visit with our buddy Izzy Presley, who surprised the host with a recent Twitter revelation. But first, the host gets overly excited about a TV show you've never heard of, and spends too much time telling you about a chance encounter in Las Vegas.
For the first time on the show, we have two special guests sharing the stage. Tod Howarth is best known for his work with Cheap Trick, 707, Ted Nudget, Frehley's Comet, and all of his solo material. Tod is a phenomenal song writer and we discuss his new album that is due to come out later this year along with his plans to release an autobiography. Tod's work with Ace Frehley inspired me to invite the one and only Izzy Presley back to the show. In addition to the work that Izzy does with Metal Edge's Another F'n Podcast and his band The Smokin' Kills, he leads ACK, an Ace Frehley Tribute Band. Izzy Presley is the guest on the show today. Izzy Presley was born and raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota. From a young age, he developed an interest in radio, news writing and interviewing, which eventually led him to becoming the Sports and Music Director at RX Magazine, a sports writer for The Weekly Buzz Newspaper, radio host of Afternoon Drive Time on Rockin 101, and Under the Covers with Izzy Presley. He moved to Los Angeles, California in 2013 for a change of scenery, but quickly found himself “following the dream,' which manifested as a result of him networking with professionals within the entertainment industry. Another FN Podcast with Izzy Presley features interviews and live in-studio performances from musicians and entertainers. Notable guests have included Adam Corolla (comedian, The Adam Corolla Show), Jeff LaBar (Cinderella), Richie Kotzen (The Winery Dogs), Don Jamieson (VH1's That Metal Show), Terry Ilous (Great White/XYZ), Riki Rachtman (MTV's Headbanger's Ball) as well as various pro-wrestlers and actors from the adult entertainment industry. He has also began hosting karaoke and other events including Izzy Presley's Monsters of Rock Cruiser Jam, as well as The Moody Blues Cruise, Cruise to the Edge, The Lebrewski Cruise and Def Leppard's Hysteria on the High Seas Cruise. He is also plays in ACK A TRIBUTE TO ACE FREHLEY alongside members of Faster Pussycat, LA Guns, and More.Presley is also a member of Mike Dawson & The Smokin Kills which he joined in 2021 as a rhythm guitar player. The Smokin Kills are Mike Dawson (Adam Carolla Show), Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings), Raanen Bozzio (Son of Terry Bozzio) and Brian Whelan who played with Dwight Yokam for many years. While Presley's talents run deep, his life philosophy is rather simple, which is “Have fun, live your life and don't be a douche”, which is clear to see by his many achievements.Another FN Podcast Link: Click Here for Metal Edge Magazine's Another FN PodcastThe Smokin' Kills on SoundCloud: Click HereThe Smokin' Kills website: www.thesmokinkills.com Izzy's Cover of Ace Frehley's Speedin' Back to my Baby: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7jVClrudMU Izzy's Cover of Tender Years from Eddie & The Cruisers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6wJf4XUey4 -

Izzy Presley is a musician, radio host, podcast host, and comedian. Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Izzy was raised on rock and roll music. He grew up listening to Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. At 4 years old, he discovered KISS, and his love for rock music was cemented. He would eventually get a gig hosting his own radio show, which led to hosting events for the Monsters of Rock cruises. Now Izzy, continues hosting a rock radio show, has his own podcast "Another F'n Podcast", fronts an Ace Frehley tribute band, performs standup comedy, and is getting into acting. This, all because in 2013 Izzy did perhaps the most rock and roll thing ever: With no money, no job, no place to stay, and no plan, Izzy jumped in his beater and lit out for Los Angeles to chase a dream. Full show notes available at http://ktla.com/spokendreams.
A Minnesota man who sold his soul to rock and roll years ago has lived in southern California for nearly five years. He hobnobs with an eclectic cast of characters in the greater Hollywood area and loves the California weather, but occasionally finds his way back home to land of 10,000 lakes. (He'll be back soon.) Whether he is serving as an emcee, playing the guitar or interviewing a guest on his own podcast, he's always got something going on, and something to say. And he's the first Can't Turn it Off repeat performer. Expect a question or two that follows up the conversations from episode 10.

The podcast returns, finally. The host interviews a Minnesota man he has never met, although he has followed the man's work for more than a decade. You'll hear references to places, people and events that won't mean anything to you, but you'll also hear the story of a man who has held a variety of jobs, in a variety of professions, throughout his adult life, and is a testament to the idea of following your dreams. The host also shares a story about how a decision he doesn't remember making forever changed the life of one of his friends.
On this week's Another FN Podcast with Izzy Presley, I was lucky enough to reconnect with my friend Jeff LaBar to talk about what is going on with him now post solo record and post Cinderella. He talked candidly about his new journey back to school to be a chef, his battle with addiction, his relationship with Tom Keifer and the rest of Cinderella, and about the status of the band, why he thinks it is still on hiatus, and walking away from the music industry. This is one of the most open and honest interviews I have ever done. He told me today that he had not spoken on the subject in a while and it was time to let it all hang out. There were no shots fired, no he said/she said, and no bullshit. Just a strait forward guy telling the truth on a very personal level while owning his demons and the effect they may have had on the band and his personal relationships.I am proud to call Jeff a friend and it was an honor to bring my listeners his story.
