In this episode, Sean Melia welcomes Marcos Baugh, the founder of Urban Golf Club, a Boston-based nonprofit bringing golf and financial literacy to kids in the city. Marcos shares how he uses foam golf balls in gymnasiums, lemonade stands at Franklin Park, and caddie loops at The Country Club to open new worlds for his students. The two dig into what it really means to "grow the game," the potential of Ponkapoag, LIV vs. PGA Tour, and why everyone should experience the game.
Cutmaker Jeff sits down for a special interview with caddy Duane Bock. The guys get into how Duane got into golf, caddying for Sepp Straka and Kevin Kisner and what it's like to caddy at Augusta National.
In this very special bonus episode of Next on the Tee, acclaimed author and golf journalist Rick Reilly returns to the show. Rick and I cover a wide range of topics that span everything from Trump's "club championships wins" to The Masters. We kick things off with Rick's take on President Trump's self-declared victories at his various club championships, including winning the Triple Crown at his home course. I ask Rick: how many of these wins are actually real and Rick doubles down on his doubts about by saying he'd play Trump for $100,000 on a neutral course with USGA rules officials watching both players. Rick shares his thoughts on the potential PGA Tour–LIV Golf merger, including a reported high-profile meeting at the White House, and whether any real progress was made. We then dig into Rick's past relationship with Greg Norman, how Norman's difficult relationship with his father may have influenced his drive to create LIV, and whether that ambition came more from Norman's disdain for the PGA Tour or a personal need for validation from his father. Rick also breaks down why Jack Nicklaus is the undisputed GOAT. As we gear up for The Masters, Rick shares stories from his time caddying at Augusta National for 1973 champion Tommy Aaron, including the physical demands of the course and the behind-the-scenes grind of being a caddy. We close with a lighthearted debate over his Washington Post article about spreading ashes on golf courses—specifically Augusta—and whether it's okay to become part of the fairway after your final round. This episode is filled with insight, laughs, and some truly unique perspectives from one of golf's most entertaining storytellers.

Meet Matt Doud, former caddie at Pebble Beach Golf Club in Carmel, CA, sub-five handicap golfer, and a Business Made Simple Coach in the Kansas City Metro Area. In today's episode, we go inside the mind of Matt to unpack the insights and learning lessons he gleaned from caddying for all of these years. You'll learn about the critical mistakes most golfers make when it comes to course management, as well as how impactful errors in club selection can be. Gulp - the latter one hit home for me. We also discuss the mental approach necessary for a solid and consistent pre-shot routine, the role of identity in shaping who you are as a golfer (and the habits associated), and what you can do to find greater ease letting the past shot go as you focus on the present shot. Start listening. Key Quotes: "Okay, you get 10 seconds to feel how you want to feel about that shot. And then you have got to let the fucking thing go." "If you wonder why you're stuck shooting low nineties or high eighties and you aspire to shoot scratch, here's an easy way to likely shave off quite a few strokes without affecting your swing or even talking about pre-shot post-shot routines or anything. It's just simple course management." "Accept the outcome of that shot no matter what it was - immediately accept a shot mentally and emotionally and then start the routine over for the next one." More About Matt Doud Matt Doud, a certified Business Made Simple coach, is an early-stage Co-founder and Fractional COO based in the Kansas City Metro Area. Having discovered his passion for advising and coaching during his time as a caddie at Pebble Beach Golf Club in Carmel, CA, Matt pursued opportunities to utilize these skills professionally. He began by leveraging his Economics and Business degree from Westmont College as a financial advisor in Portland, OR, before co-founding Pre-Approve Me, a residential mortgage software company, in 2013, where he served as COO.
