This episode introduces the writings found about Jesus outside of the Bible. Many people often forget that the Bible is also a historical book. This means it contains history. The events surrounding Jesus coming from heaven, mentoring a group of disciples, performing miracles are also found in secular writings. Listeners will learn more about the external writings which mentions Jesus and the early church. Many denominational traditions make themselves the portal of salvation. “Join us. Go to our church. That's where it's at.” But true Christianity is not anywhere but outside the city gate, at the cross of Christ. Have we met Jesus there, or are we religious? Let's go to Him, outside the gate, willing to bear the disgrace He bore for us.
Of course CHRISTIANS talk about Jesus. But what about people who don't believe in Jesus? Do they even acknowledge he exists? Oh Yes!
When Jesus encounters the results of chaos from the inside of us, what does he do? Does he scoff or ignore it? Or does he act against it in order to bring to us inward and outward healing? Father Jeremiah looks at Mark 5 and a story with two healings dealing with chaos from the inside.Image: The Raising of the Daughter of Jairus, Eduard Bendemann, CC0, via Wikimedia Commons. This week I am joined by Kevin Garcia for a lovely conversation around their latest book, "What Makes You Bloom: Cultivating A Practice for Connecting With Your Divine Self". Kevin is a Spiritual Coach, Mystical Theologian, Writer, Podcaster, and Human. Many of us who have deconstructed and stepped away from the Church still feel some kind of spiritual connection. Some of us even still feel a genuine connection to Jesus the Christ. Kevin offers us a spirituality and a practice where we can continue to foster a relationship with the Divine, even the Divine within. This conversation was a lot of fun and we covered a lot of ground. We go both deep and wide sharing our own stories and spiritual practices. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did! Unmovable in Truth 1 Corinthians 15:58 Hebrews 4:12 January 15, 2023 We believe the Bible is the Word of God. It is Inspired (God Breathed). It is Authoritative. It is Infallible (without error). It is Good News for all people. We can't live in a fallen society and not be tainted by it's belief system without Absolute Truth being our compass. 2 Tim 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Faith is required to believe God's Word. Paul wrote in Romans 12:3 that God has given to every believer a ‘measure' of faith. In Romans 10:17 he wrote, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Some say, I need proof the Bible is Truth before I believe. The Truth of God's Word is proven by prophecy, archeology, and history. 1. Fulfilled prophecy proves the Bible is Inspired (God-Breathed). The Bible was written over 1600 years by 40 authors in 66 books. Over 2500 prophecies and around 2000 have already been fulfilled to the letter. The probability of all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2,000 zeros written after it)! 374 of these prophecies were Messianic Prophecies. Peter Stone in his book, Science Speaks, states the probability of even 8 of these prophecies being fulfilled in one man is 1 in 1 quadrillion. That is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000! 2. Archeology proves the Bible's accuracy. Archeology has never uncovered anything that contradicts the Bible! Hundreds of cities have been discovered by Archeologists. Nineveh, Jericho, Joppa, Ephesus, Capernaum, Bethel to name a few. Nelson Glueck, a renowned Jewish archaeologist, stated that, “no archaeological discovery has ever disproved a Biblical reference!” As Christians, our faith does NOT depend on Archeological discoveries, our faith rests on the power of God and the revelation of Jesus Christ. 3. History proves the Bible's validity. The Bible is not written as a history book, but it is a book that contains much history. In his article, Historical Proof of the Bible, Jim Franks says, “Roman and Jewish historians were no fans of Christianity, but they give historical proof of the Bible, including the life of Jesus Christ.” The fact that historians have confirmed more than 100 biblical characters in secular history is impressive and provides a remarkable proof for the validity of Scripture. Robert Van Voorst, in his book Jesus Outside the New Testament wrote, “No pagans and Jews who opposed Christianity denied Jesus' historicity or even questioned it” The Word of God, the Bible, is Living and Active. None of this Book is irrelevant or insignificant. The Word of God can affect your life. How it does depends on how you choose to accept and apply the Word. Martin Luther declared, “My Conscience is captive to the Word of God. To go against my conscience is neither right nor safe.” Jesus used the Word of God to defeat Satan, confound the religious and bring hope to the sinner. The Word brings light, direction, guidance, peace, hope, assurance and so much more to the one who chooses to believe. +++++++ You can find our service times on our website: https://allnationstallahassee.com/ You can find sermon highlights on Twitter here: https://mobile.twitter.com/allnationstally
The healing of blind Bartimaeus and the salvation of Zacchaeus is recorded for us from Luke 18:35 to 19:10. These two accounts seem separate but are deeply connected to each another. One occurred as Jesus was making His way towards Jericho, while the other as He exited from the same city. The parallels are uncanny and clearly intentional so that the divine may convey a single clear message to us.

What do we know about Jesus and the story of Jesus from outside the Bible? Much more than you might think! Archaeologist Dr. Titus Kennedy joins Frank to reveal the Top 20 discoveries about Jesus from outside the Bible. Here they are: The place and nature of his birth. The murderous nature of Herod. The synagogue where Jesus taught in his adopted hometown—Capernaum. Peter's house in Capernaum. The pool of Bethesda. The pool of Siloam. The nature of the town of Bethany where Jesus raised Lazarus—Leper colony, “the place of Lazarus”, tomb that matches John 11:38. The temple place of the trumpeting. The Caiaphas ossuary (also the Miriam Ossuary—granddaughter of Caiaphus) The James ossuary. The gates of Hell. The miracles of Jesus—he's admitted as a miracle worker even by non-Christian sources. The fearful nature of Pilate—Why was Pilate afraid of upsetting the Jews? Archaeological evidence of Pilate includes coins, a ring, an inscription, and ancient writers). The nature and place of burial and resurrection: Tomb of the Shroud (nature of the burial), Church of the Holy Sepulcher, place of the burial and resurrection Nazareth inscription. Crucifixion—archaeology, writings (Acts of Pilate). Christ the magician cup. The murderous nature of Herod Agrippa I. The early spread of Christianity and the belief in the Resurrection. The graffiti found in Rome. Due to time constraints, we only were able to discuss the first 15 of these. But Frank and Titus kept recording! To see the remaining five, join our new CrossExamined Community which is a private online forum where believers can interact with us and one another without the fear of being canceled. After the program will be posted there. To learn much more, get Dr. Kennedy's excellent new book, Excavating the Evidence for Jesus: The Archaeology and History of Christ and the Gospels.
