If you're a business leader, creative director, entrepreneur—or someone curious (or even a little anxious) about how AI fits into your work—this episode is for you. In this conversation, Justin Ahrens talks with Scott Meyer, co-founder of Chipp.ai, about designing AI tools that don't just automate—but amplify creativity, strategy, and human connection. Scott's journey—from studying peace and conflict in Norway to building tech startups—has always centered on clarity, access, and community. Together, they explore what it means to make AI more human, more useful, and more aligned with how we actually think, lead, and create.
“Music is completely emotion-driven for me. If I don't feel it, I can't fake it. That's why I keep writing—to stay close to that feeling.” In this deeply reflective episode of The Design Of, Justin Ahrens sits down with musician, composer, and sonic storyteller Ryan O'Neal, best known as Sleeping At Last. With millions of listeners around the world and a body of work that's as emotionally rich as it is expansive, Ryan shares how he intentionally designs not just music—but meaning. We explore how Ryan's creative process is rooted in emotion, curiosity, and the desire to stay connected to what truly moves him. From writing songs inspired by the Enneagram to scoring film and television, Ryan talks about chasing wonder, navigating vulnerability, and using music as a mirror for growth. While Ryan is a musician, his approach offers powerful insights for anyone in business, branding, or leadership. His creative process models how to: + Lead with emotional intelligence—understanding the power of empathy in connection + Tell stories that resonate—by tapping into universal emotions and personal truths + Build a brand with heart—that earns trust, loyalty, and long-term impact + Design experiences that feel human—not just polished If you're trying to inspire teams, connect with customers, or create more meaningful marketing—this episode will remind you why feeling is often more powerful than strategy alone.

We now know exactly when Ohio State's 2022 season will kick off, and it's hard not to start getting excited.Ohio State's Sept. 3 season opener against Notre Dame is still more than three months away, but the buildup to the Buckeyes' first game of the year received a big jolt of energy Tuesday when ESPN announced that the highly anticipated non-conference clash at Ohio Stadium will be played under the lights, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.So we begin this week's episode of Real Pod Wednesdays by starting to look ahead to the first game of the year, as we discuss some of the many reasons Ohio State vs. Notre Dame will be the Buckeyes' most exciting season opener in some time and share our thoughts on the early 13.5-point spread. In that same spirit, we also share our thoughts (beginning at 14:30) on the other early betting lines for Ohio State's big games that were recently released by FanDuel, which has the Buckeyes as a 16-point favorite over Wisconsin, 21-point favorite over Iowa, 13-point favorite over Penn State and 14-point favorite over Michigan. Are the Buckeyes really that much better than everyone else on their schedule, or are those spreads a bit too generous? And we make our picks for which games we'd feel most and least confident betting on Ohio State's side right now.We also take a look (20:08) at the early odds to win the Big Ten by BetOnline, which has Ohio State as a -200 favorite to take the conference crowd and no one else with better odds than +1000. Is betting on the Buckeyes good value even at 1-to-2 odds, and which other team in the conference would we be most inclined to take a flier on? Plus, we discuss which teams could be the sleepers to contend in the conference or at least pull off a big upset in Big Ten play.In the second half of the show, we hit on a variety of miscellaneous topics including: 29:57: Ohio lagging behind other states by not allowing high school athletes to make NIL deals 32:50: Why Noah Potter and Justin Ahrens' transfer destinations make sense 38:30: What Malaki Branham and E.J. Liddell could do at this week's NBA Draft Combine 42:40: Griffin's post-vacation thoughts on Ohio State basketball's addition of Isaac Likekele 46:11: Who the Big Ten's best running backs will be this year 48:40: Why Braxton Miller is Ohio State's most exciting quarterback of the past 20 years

The transfer portal is a phenomenal tool for college athletes. The ability to transfer to a new school and immediately be eligible is a luxury numerous collegiate athletes weren't able to have. There have been three Ohio State athletes that have entered the portal this week. Jay opens today's show discussing what players have decided to enter the transfer portal. You'll quickly realize that these announcements are coming during a busy time for both the football and basketball teams. With so many players transferring you might be wondering why so many players are leaving. Or asking yourself if this is a sign of an internal problem. Jay spends some time dissecting with Lejond Cavazos, Bryson Shaw, and Justin Ahrens decided this is the time for them to look at playing at a different school. The timing of Justin Ahrens entering the portal might be the most interesting of the three players mentioned. You often ask us who's standing out and making a move up the depth chart at spring practice, and now, we feel equipped to actually answer those questions.Saturday's Student Appreciation Day gave us our first opportunity of the spring to watch the Buckeyes practice actual football – as in, we got to watch team drills, 7-on-7 drills and head-to-head competition rather than just warmups and individual drills – and as a result, we got our first real glimpse of who's where on the depth chart and who's making plays in competitive action. We spend the first half of this week's episode of Real Pod Wednesdays talking all about what we took away from Saturday's viewing opportunity, including which players and position groups stood out most and which units look like they still have a lot of work to do between now and September. In the second half of this week's episode (beginning at 30:28), we talk about the impact of a busy week in the transfer portal for multiple Buckeye teams, starting with the football team, who lost defensive backs Lejond Cavazos and Bryson Shaw to the portal on Monday. While those moves are a hit to Ohio State's secondary depth, we discuss why neither of them came as a big surprise and why heading elsewhere at this point in their careers is probably in both of their best interests. After answering some listener football questions, we shift the conversation to basketball (beginning at 48:47) and talk about the likely departure of Malaki Branham from the Ohio State men's basketball team and how the incoming transfer of former Wright State guard Tanner Holden could help fill some of that void. We also discuss who else the Buckeyes could add from the portal – and whether the next priority should be a power forward or a point guard – after Justin Ahrens' entry into the portal. To wrap things up, we also share our thoughts on Chris Holtmann's hiring of Jack Owens and expected promotion of Mike Netti and on what we expect from Thad Matta's return to the sideline at Butler.
Monday was a busy one for the Ohio State Buckeyes, as three OSU players decided to enter the transfer portal. And the football program could be on the verge of landing a commitment from an elite safety prospect.Kevin Noon, host of the Big Me Kickoff podcast, joins host Tom Orr to discuss that and more.- What the departure of Lejond Cavazos tells us about some of the other defensive backs on the team- Why Bryson Shaw is hitting the portal just months after recording the third-most snaps on the defense- Who's left on the basketball team after Justin Ahrens decided to transfer out- The latest on 2023 safety prospect Malik Hartford, who is announcing his commitment on Wednesday

Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions. On this episode, Jamari Wheeler, Justin Ahrens, and Chris Holtmann discuss No. 23 Ohio State's (18-9, 11-7) terrible, awful, no good, very bad loss to Nebraska (9-21, 3-16) Tuesday night. Despite leading for a portion of this game and rarely trailing by more than six or seven points, the Buckeyes were unable to string stops together to make up the deficit, falling to the Big Ten's worst team on their home floor. Wheeler and Ahrens had few answers to explain what contributed to the brutal loss. Wheeler said that the team simply did not come into the game with the focus needed for a game of this magnitude with Big Ten Tournament seeding on the line. They also mentioned that losing Kyle Young (plus Zed Key) was a killer, but that it was not why they lost this game. Holtmann then took the loss on the chin during his time, saying that it is his fault that the team “is not connected on defense like they should be” this late in the season. He acknowledged injuries, but also acknowledged that there are a lot of things “that are correctible that need to be corrected.” We also heard from the victorious coach, Fred Hoiberg, and his star player, Bryce McGowens. McGowen had 26 points to lead Nebraska. Connect with the Podcast: Twitter: @BucketheadsLGHL Connect with Connor: Twitter: @lemons_connor Learn more about your ad choices. Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions. On this episode, Zed Key, Jamari Wheeler, Ben Johnson, and Chris Holtmann discuss Ohio State's come-from-behind 70-45 win over the Gophers at the Schottenstein Center Tuesday night. After trailing by two points at halftime, Ohio State overwhelmed Minnesota over the final 20 minutes, denying them their fourth conference win of the season. Key and Wheeler discussed some of the changes that needed to be made to play a cleaner second half. Wheeler also talked about his mindset when teams back off of him and “dare” him to shoot threes, like Minnesota did tonight. Head coach Chris Holtmann addressed Justin Ahrens' reduced role on the team as the season progresses and his confidence in his team to pull away from opponents late. He described Ohio State's pace as a “slow drip” that he knew would eventually lead to his team taking command of the game. After another unexpected layoff, Ohio State's basketball players were really looking forward to taking the court Sunday afternoon in the Schott. Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conference, but also from individual interview sessions. In this episode you will hear from both head coaches — Chris Holtmann and Danny Manning — as well as select Ohio State players following Ohio State's 82-67 victory over Maryland Sunday afternoon in the Schottenstein Center. Manning spoke first, repeating several times that Ohio State has several guys who can really make you pay, and that allowing a team to shoot 60% in the first half isn't going to win you many games. Then, Justin Ahrens — and later Zed Key — step in to discuss Ohio State's tenth home victory of the season in 10 tries. Ahrens took questions alone first, as Key was held up speaking to his adoring fans as he tried to exit the arena floor. Ahrens talked about the stress of going through the tough stretch he went through, and the vitriol some fans had been showing him lately. Key also sang Ahrens praises and expressed how happy he was for his teammate following his big game. Finally, Holtmann talked to the media about starting and finishing strong, something he says the Buckeyes were not able to do against Purdue last weekend. He expressed how happy he was for Ahrens, and thanked the Buckeye Nuthouse for “consistently being phenomenal” all season long. Ohio State Buckeyes Basketball is now sitting at 11-3 on the 2020-21 season and ranked in the top-25 but there is a very long way to go for this team with at least 11 more regular season conference games to go in a super-competitive Big Ten Conference. Chris Holtmann's team is coming off of an impressive road win at Illinois, down a pair of point guards and on the back of a hot shooting afternoon by EJ Liddell as well as some instant offense by Justin Ahrens. It is an action-packed show as The People's Champ, Matt Baxendell, joins Dave Biddle to discuss the following: * Ohio State's men's basketball game with a crucial 90-70 victory over Iowa Tuesday night in Columbus, which will be remembered as the coming-out-party for Justin Ahrens. The freshman sharp-shooter exploded for 29 points for the Buckeyes. He had scored just 38 all season entering play. * By every metric available, the Buckeyes (18-10, 8-9 Big Ten) are projected to make the NCAA Tournament. * On the football front, what will Jonah Jackson's role be? Will the Rutgers transfer definitely start at guard, or might he compete with Josh Myers for the starting center spot? He will be a starter at one position or the other, but which will it be? * Even after landing Jackson, Ohio State might not be done on the offensive lineman grad transfer market. Parker Braun from Georgia Tech is interested in OSU, and his father told our Bill Kurelic that Braun will visit Ohio State in March. And if he picks Ohio State, the plan might be to redshirt in 2019 and then play as a fifth-year senior in 2020. What a unique situation, and we talk all about it. * Ohio State redshirt freshman offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere has already gained 16 pounds since enrolling (272 to 288). Can he add another 16 pounds or so before the season starts without losing his agility? * The Buckeyes are now two over the scholarship limit. Who could be on "transfer watch" for OSU this spring? All of that and more is coming at you on the Wednesday extravaganza. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

I am super excited to have Justin Ahrens of Rule 29 on the show today. On the side of his firm, Justin launched an initiative called Wheels 4 Water, where he’s raised over $200,000 for a non-profit focused on providing clean drinking water in Africa. What’s cool about our conversation today is that Justin shares why it’s easier to set up a non-profit by not actually setting one up. We also talk about why Justin started this initiative and how it’s opened up big doors for his primary agency. If you are in a spot where you want to do more good in your business and see it grow as you do that, this is the episode for you. For full show notes go to jake-jorgovan.com/podcast/094 ...
