In this episode of The Cordial Catholic, I'm joined by former Protestant pastor Keith Nester and author and speaker Devin Schadt to discuss the process of Catholic conversion from two sides of the same story. In a first for this podcast we unfold the narrative of a Catholic conversion–Keith's conversion, in this case–from two different perspectives; from the perspective of the Catholic loving and practising and sharing their faith, and from the side of the skeptical Protestant doing the exact same thing on the other end. You'll hear how these two friends journeyed together, how they used apologetics, how they argued and debated and nearly got arrested one time, but how the Holy Spirit ultimately used Devin's witness, and their friendship, to convince Keith of the truth of the ancient Catholic faith. It is an incredible story and a real privilege to share it with you. My guest today is Keith Nester, a former pastor who spent over 20 years in ministry—until one verse changed everything. When he heard Jesus say in Matthew 26:26, “This is my body,” he knew it wasn't symbolic. Embracing that truth meant losing his ministry, his income, and nearly his marriage. He resisted at first, but as liberalism overtook his denomination, he realized only Church tradition could stand firm. Today, Keith helps others find their way home. His mission: unite Christians in truth and reignite a deep love for scripture and Christ's teachings. He's living proof that following truth is worth everything.NEW: Join our exclusive Rose Report community! https://lilaroseshow.supercast.com - We'll have BTS footage, ad-free episodes, monthly AMA, and early access to our upcoming guests.A big thanks to our partner, EWTN, the world's leading Catholic network! On the Sunday before Easter is the Christian moveable feast of Palm Sunday that commemorates Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. Its name originates from the palm branches waved by the crowd to greet and honor Jesus of Nazareth as he entered the city. Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week and the beginning of the last week of the solemn season of Lent, preceding Eastertide in Western Christianity. In biblical times, leprosy was often viewed as a divine punishment, a mark of sin or impurity. Such beliefs fostered fear, ostracism, and discrimination. The biblical portrayals of leprosy reinforced a narrative that associated it with moral wrongdoing, leading to social exclusion and isolation. But what is Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s Disease? And how exactly does scripture employ this terrible affliction in its teachings? In this week's episode guest host Keith Nester, Executive Director of Down To Earth Ministries, discusses the reality of the resurrection and our doubts and fears as he opens up the Gospel of John 20:19-31. John 20:19-31 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed." Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

In this episode, I'm joined by my good friend Keith Nester to talk about some of the pitfalls new Catholic converts may experience on their journey. Keith is a former Protestant pastor (with 20+ years in ministry), a Catholic convert himself, the author of some fantastic books, and the host of a popular YouTube channel – and he knows a thing or two about this topic! We talk about bad liturgy, bringing kids to Mass, a loss of programs, events, and a sense of community we once had in our Evangelicals churches, sermons and homilies, music in the Mass – and much, much more. This episode is all about being guide for those looking into the Church – a kind of peek into what you may encounter – what we encountered – that wasn't always exactly what we expected. It's an honest, earnest conversation about how, sometimes, our expectations weren't exactly met – and how maybe those expectations weren't the best anyway. Plus much more. For more from Keith please check out our extensive back catalogue – he's appeared may times – and find him online on his website and YouTube channel. Also, check out the Rosary Crew where Keith and his community pray the rosary every single day (for over 1,000 days and counting).
