Personal stories ripple through the hour, from listeners wrestling with infertility options to those struggling with marriage outside the Church, each seeking clarity and reassurance within the Church’s teachings. Nancy (email) – Why do some parishes offer confession after mass but no before? (00:30) Rhonda – With the shortage of priests today, why shouldn't we allow priests to be married? Why can’t we have women priests? (03:16) Terry - I learned that God put a beautiful barrier up with infertility if there is an infection. When we jump that barrier with IVF, you will lose the baby. (12:30) Joshua - You said that the devil is not totally evil and that we aren't supposed to hate things. Should we love the devil? (16:37) Penny (email) - I was told about a nearby SSPX mission church that holds the Traditional Latin Mass (24:56) Marcela - I was away from the church for 50 years and I’ve been brought back by Patrick Madrid and Relevant Radio! (31:16) Mary - If someone married outside of Church but Catholic themselves and did not marry a Catholic, are they in state of grace? What do they do? (37:11) Jeanette - What happens to aborted babies' souls? Where do they go? (43:28) Email - goes into more detail from yesterday concerning John 6:25-70

For fifty years Catholics have debated the Society of Saint Pius X, episcopal consecrations, and questions of schism and canonical status. But according to Bishop Athanasius Schneider—and Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre before him—most people are arguing about the wrong thing. Let's examine the real "State of Emergency" in the Catholic Church: collapsing vocations, shuttered churches, empty monasteries, declining belief, the suppression of the Traditional Latin Mass, and a growing crisis of Catholic identity in the post-Vatican II era. The question is not whether emergency measures are justified, but whether the emergency itself can still be denied.  Featuring: Bishop Athanasius Schneider Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre The SSPX consecrations The Traditional Latin Mass Vatican II and Nostra Aetate Pope Francis and religious pluralism The Chartres Pilgrimage The future of Catholic Tradition What is the REAL crisis facing the Church today? Patrick answers questions ranging from the rites of the Catholic Church and differences between Eastern Catholic and Orthodox practices to the emotional tug-of-war families sense over traditional Latin Mass versus contemporary liturgies, wrestling with reverence, choir commitments, and parental concerns for their children’s formation. He shares thoughts on altar girls, highlights generational shifts in liturgical norms, and responds to listener reflections about the abolitionist movement within pro-life circles, threading through conflicting impulses of tradition and innovation while also confronting online hostility and resurfacing anti-Jewish rhetoric. These moments, layered with personal anecdotes and real-time problem-solving, propel the episode forward with frankness, vulnerability, and a call for discerning faith in a world pulsing with contradiction. Monica (email) - Could you elaborate on the Greek / Russian Orthodox. Are their priests ordained like ours? Can we attend their mass and receive the Eucharist? (00:43) Kristy (email) - Should we alternate Sundays between our local Novus Ordo parish (where our 9-year-old homeschooled son loves singing in the children’s choir twice a month) and the Traditional Latin Mass parish an hour away, or commit to one church to avoid confusing him? (06:27) Michael (email) - Should I allow my 6-year-old daughter—who already wants to be a nun—to serve at the altar in our reverent Novus Ordo parish (which has great reverence for the Eucharist), or would that risk pushing her away like my parents’ decision to forbid my sister, who later left for Protestantism? (19:51) Rich - What are your thoughts on being pro-life vs being an abortion abolitionist? (29:43) Andrew - I attended a wedding in a park and the presider said 'by the power invested in me by the universal life church, God, and her universe...' (41:24) Irene - I came across a Catholic group on X that hates Jews (48:27)

Concerns are raised that deeper questions surrounding authority, doctrine, and Catholic identity remain unresolved. The conversation also explores why some faithful Catholics feel increasingly discouraged or spiritually exhausted.HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents! Send us a text by clicking this link!Holy Week hits different when you stop treating it like a reenactment and start treating it like formation. We sit down with Father Mawdsley to talk about the older Catholic instincts that the liturgy can rebuild: steady trust under pressure, clarity about what the Church is doing at the altar, and the quiet courage to refuse performative participation when something feels spiritually off.We get specific about the Good Friday liturgy, the solemn intercessions, and the practical question many people ask every year: when do you genuflect, and when do you remain standing? From there we move to Palm Sunday and the Passion reading, and why speaking certain crowd lines as a congregation can confuse contrition with participation. Along the way we keep coming back to the Traditional Latin Mass, pre-1955 Holy Week, and the claim that the rites don't merely reflect Catholic belief, they shape Catholic reflexes. The conversation widens into bigger questions about propaganda, war reporting, and how Christians hold moral lines when everything feels like spectacle. We also take a listener question on usury and modern finances, including retirement accounts and how to detach from systems you didn't build without letting money rule your life.If this helped you think more clearly about Catholic Holy Week, the Good Friday prayers, and the role of tradition in spiritual life, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review with your biggest Holy Week question.Support the showNeed seafood for Lent? Want to reach out to us? Want to leave a comment or review? Want to give us a suggestion or berate Anthony? Send us a text by clicking this link!A single rumor from Rome can light the fuse again: is Pope Leo quietly trying to de-escalate the fight over the Traditional Latin Mass and stop turning Catholic liturgy into a battlefield? We start with the latest chatter around easing hostility toward TLM communities after Traditionis Custodes, then zoom out to the deeper question: what does fidelity look like when Church politics, social media, and constant scandals train us to pick teams instead of pursuing holiness? We also get honest about how online Catholic drama warps the soul. The temptation is to draw hard lines, label people, and turn “calling out” leaders into a sport. We push back on that impulse and talk about why cohesion matters, especially if the cultural weather keeps shifting toward real hostility. The point isn't to pretend everything is fine. The point is to stay in the Church, stay near the sacraments, and refuse to let rage replace judgment. From there we dig into Scripture and history, including Genesis 3:15 and the theme of spiritual conflict, plus why the liturgy itself keeps forcing these questions back onto the table especially as we head into Holy Week and the Triduum. We react to a clip about a young adult stumbling into a reverent Mass and realizing, “This is what I've been missing,” and we ask what that says about worship, culture, and the future of Catholic life.If this kind of deep Catholic commentary helps you think clearly, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review. Want to reach out to us? Want to leave a comment or review? Want to give us a suggestion or berate Anthony? Send us a text by clicking this link! One bad Mass can haunt you for years. So can one truly reverent one that finally makes the Catholic faith click. We sit down with Catholic Esquire to trace the path a lot of serious Catholics have quietly taken: from lukewarm Novus Ordo parish life, to apologetics and “doing all the programs,” to the shock of realizing how much the liturgy forms what we believe about sin, sacrifice, and the Eucharist. We talk about the Traditional Latin Mass not as nostalgia, but as a place where the prayers and posture teach the faith with force and clarity.COVID comes up as the accelerant. When parishes shut down Mass and delayed sacraments, many people stopped trusting the idea that everything was fine and started seeking a community that would protect a sacramental life. From drive-through confessions to Communion policies that felt irreverent, we unpack why 2020 pushed people “full trad” and why even defenders of the status quo still end up parish-shopping for reverence. Then we go big: Vatican II, religious liberty, ecumenism, and the social kingship of Christ. We explore why these debates connect to the current Catholic crisis, why sedevacantism arguments keep growing, why the SSPX question won't go away, and how online “trad wars” can destroy charity if we let them. If you're trying to raise a family, keep the faith, and think clearly about authority, this conversation is for you.Subscribe for more conversations like this, share it with a friend who's wrestling with the same questions, and leave a review with the biggest point you disagreed with.Support the showNeed seafood for Lent? Catholic Answers Live

Why does the Catholic Church have both the Traditional Latin Mass and the modern form of the Mass—and how should you explain the difference without getting pulled into “liturgy wars”? In this episode of Catholic Answers Live, Catholic Answers apologists address this common question before diving into a wide range of topics. They explore whether charging interest is still considered usury, how just war theory applies to rebellions, and how historical cases like the Knights Templar fit with Church law. The episode also explains the role of baptism in justification, offers arguments against naturalism, and gives practical advice for strengthening Catholic marriages. Additional questions include how to understand Peter's denial of Jesus and what it means for salvation. A rich discussion covering liturgy, moral theology, and everyday Catholic life. Questions Covered: 05:32 – I attend the Tridentine Mass Almost exclusively at my ‘local’ FSSP parish. I have a friend seeking the Catholic Church who asked me ‘why do you have two different masses in the Western Rite? Why don’t you just attend the regular English one?’   I often say that I am drawn to the beauty and simplicity of it. How do we respond to this simply without dragging them into the so-called ‘liturgy wars’? How do we respond given the restrictions placed on the older masses? Basically, how do we address this difference to those outside the church? Do I just keep a response about ‘preferences of the faithful’?  11:46 – The Church has been quite vocal against usury over the centuries. Is it still defined as any lending of money at interest? How does this notion square with the idea of a variable money supply? Would things like bank accounts, bonds, cds or stocks still be considered illicit? Has there been any recent guidance from the magisterium?  19:02 – Does just war theory apply to rebellions? Historically, I'm thinking of Irish wars against the British Empire and slave revolts of African-descended peoples in the Americas, including during the U.S. Civil War. What would be the conditions of jus ad bellum in cases like these or any other group dealing with an oppressor?  28:46 – Canon 7 of Chalcedon forbids clergy and monks from war and holding secular office. How then did the Knights Templar, and bishops such as the bishop of Andorra, who also holds title of Co-Prince of Andorra, not violate this?  34:03 – How does baptism fit with “faith alone working through love?” Can someone with “faith alone working through love” be initially justified apart from baptism?  19:44 – What do you think is the most convincing argument/thought exercise against naturalism/empricism (or at least what the average indifferent secular person thinks they believe).  46:29 – What is your best advice for a married Catholic couple to strengthen their bond in marriage? Your stories about you and Renee are always so beautiful (the blue birds especially). Also thanks for being a Catholic cowboy. I grew up Southern Baptist, and seeing a southern Catholic gentleman do apologetics is really cool.  50:51 –  Peter denied Jesus 3 times. After the cock crows three times he ran away in shame. What if he falls, hits his head and dies after this? Would his soul be in danger of damnation?

Bishop Athanasius Schneider delivers a powerful message about the future of Catholic liturgy, warning that the Novus Ordo Mass, as it currently stands, cannot continue without serious reform. He explains how Vatican II's ambiguities have fueled doctrinal confusion and allowed anthropocentric trends to undermine Christ-centered worship. The conversation highlights how a false synodality, modeled more on political systems than apostolic tradition, is weakening the Church's structure and authority. Bishop Schneider calls for restoring clarity, reverence, and doctrinal fidelity, beginning with the sacred liturgy. He urges Catholics to defend the Traditional Latin Mass and reform the Novus Ordo so that it better reflects the Church's true identity and mission. True evangelization, he argues, will only be possible once Christ is restored to the center of Catholic life.HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL U.S. residents! With growing restrictions and renewed attacks on the ancient Mass, Fr. Paul Robinson unpacks the legal, historical, and theological questions at stake. Does Quo Primum still bind the Church? Can a pope forbid what previous popes promulgated? What about the authority of Pope Paul VI and the New Mass? Father explains how changes made by Luther and Cranmer in the 16th century—reducing the priesthood, eliminating sacrifice, and downplaying the Real Presence—are echoed in the Novus Ordo. We examine how a Mass shaped by ecumenism and a new theology ends up looking more like a Protestant service than the Traditional Latin Mass.
