【 What We Talked About】 An unforeseen storm is sweeping through Trump's second term. The "Epstein client list," once seen by MAGA voters as the key to a reckoning with the "deep state," has been declared "nonexistent" by Trump's own Department of Justice, instantly sparking a crisis of trust with his base. Is this a clumsy political maneuver, or a conspiracy to hide a more shocking truth? Will Attorney General Bondi be the first cabinet member to be sacrificed? Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress have powered through the landmark "One Big Beautiful Bill," making corporate tax cuts permanent while delaying cuts to social benefits like Medicaid until after the midterm elections. Is this move a victory for the traditional GOP establishment, or a strategic compromise of Trumpism? In response, Elon Musk, once briefly allied with Trump, has loudly announced the formation of the "American Party," citing his dissatisfaction with the bill's new energy policies and the ballooning fiscal deficit. Is this the beginning of a shake-up of America's two-party system, or just another billionaire's political fantasy? This episode was recorded around 10 PM ET on July 13, 2025. Which side of politics loves the monarchy more? Conventional wisdom says Conservatives are the monarchy's biggest fans. But are Ed Balls and George Osborne the exceptions to that rule? The pair explore how royalist sentiment plays out across the political spectrum, how long this current reign might last, and whether we'll ever see a King George. Then, it's onto a different question of longevity: what will it take for the Conservative Party to survive? Is the future in rebuilding the 2015 voter coalition of social liberals and economic conservatives? Or has that alignment passed its sell-by date? Ed and George debate whether One Nation Conservatism still has legs, or if the party is heading in a Reform-lite direction. Plus, what should Labour do next to avoid complacency after its 2024 landslide? And finally, parties of a different kind. A listener asks about the best parties they've ever been to. George plays it coy, but Ed eventually gets the details out of him - including a story or two from Madonna's legendary Oscars after party…To get episodes early and ad-free, join Political Currency Gold or the Kitchen Cabinet:

Former CNN and Fox anchor Dave Briggs applauds Elon Musk for trying to launch a brand new political party and would eagerly jump on board to join him in the effort if asked. In this eye-opening and insightful discussion, Chris Perkins, Managing Partner and President of CoinFund and macro thinker and founder of Visserlabs, Jordi Visser, explore the profound impacts of AI and crypto on the future of the global economy and investment landscape. Jordi argues we will soon see a significant societal and financial shift: that traditional business cycles are dead, the Fortune 500 will not exist and Stablecoins are the bridge to the future. Thanks to legislation like the “Genius Act” and “Clarity Act”, Jordi feels investors and financial institutions will see Stablecoins as a critical bridge between traditional and digital investing — and give an accessible money alternative to people in countries with volatile currencies. Today's Headlines: President Trump signed his sweeping budget bill into law. The law eliminates taxes on silencers and some firearms, adds new taxes on remittances, and includes bizarre provisions like $40 million for a MAGA statue garden and Trump-branded savings accounts for babies. It extends Trump's 2017 tax cuts, slashes Medicaid (projected to leave 12 million uninsured), defunds Planned Parenthood reimbursements, and guts food assistance while ballooning ICE's budget to over $100 billion. Elon Musk, furious over the bill's impact on his business, announced a vague new “America Party” as his teen protégé “Big Balls” was hired by the Social Security Administration. Meanwhile, 79 people died in sudden Texas floods, FEMA grant programs are quietly being withdrawn, and Kristi Noem is under scrutiny for accepting undisclosed payments from a nonprofit promoting her political ambitions. On the global stage, Trump's trade war deadline looms with only 3 of 90 deals finalized, and up to 70% tariffs threatened for non-compliant countries. Proximity talks between Israel and Hamas resume this week in Qatar, as Netanyahu visits the White House following Israel's rejection of Hamas's latest ceasefire demands. In this marathon episode, Jon Herold and Chris Paul pull back the curtain on the spectacle of Washington's latest trillion-dollar spending spree. They break down how Trump's massive funding bill was rushed through with grand promises, only to end up stuffed with pork, lobbyist favors, and half-measures like the single-year defunding of Planned Parenthood. The hosts dissect the performative drama in Congress, including Hakeem Jeffries' record-breaking speech, and question whether Trump plans to claw back spending with impoundment tactics or challenge the system outright. As Elon Musk floats his “America Party,” Jon and Chris debate whether this is genuine or just kayfabe engineered to herd public frustration back into the same corrupt machinery. The conversation stretches into the origins of the two-party monopoly, the futility of voting in a rigged system, and why “representatives” today are little more than corporate salesmen. Packed with historical context, biting humor, and candid skepticism, this episode challenges listeners to rethink everything they've been told about politics, governance, and the illusion of choice.
