This time we are discussing another important COP26 topic; climate finance. Our guest is the head of the climate and energy programme at WWF Russia, Alexey Kokorin. Developing countries have hit out at the OECD definition of climate finance, which includes grants, loans, and export finance credits from both private and public sources. We asked Alexey, amongst other things, what exactly counts as climate finance.The Eurasian Climate Brief is a new podcast dedicated to climate news in the region stretching from Eastern Europe and Russia down to Caucasia and Central Asia. In this episode, James joins with Russian environmental journalist Angelina Davydova to host a conversation about Russia, Australia and climate change. Both countries have recently seen extreme summers, and people are increasingly awakening to the impacts of climate change. We also share large fossil fuel export industries, and governments recalcitrant to act. Featuring:Angelina Davydova - Angelina is the director of the NGO Office of Environmental Information (based in St. Petersburg, Russia), which works in the area of cooperation between Russia and other countries in the climate and environmental sectors. She is also one of the leading climate journalists in Russia, regularly contributing to Russian and international media. She also teaches at a number of universities in Russia.Dr Alexey Kokorin - Dr. Kokorin is Director of Climate and Energy Program of the WWF – Russia. He served for the World Wide Fund for Nature from 2000. From 1984 to 1999, Dr. Kokorin worked in the Institute of Global Climate and Ecology of Russian Hydrometeorology Agency and Academy of Science including as Leading Scientist (1997-1999). In 2007, he was awarded by Nobel Peace Prize in large group of authors of the IPCC reports. Professor Will Steffen - Professor Steffen is Emeritus Professor at the Fenner School of Environment & Society at ANU. He has a long history in international global change research, serving from 1998 to 2004 as Executive Director of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), based in Stockholm, Sweden, and before that as Executive Officer of IGBP's Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems project. Will was the Inaugural Director of the ANU Climate Change Institute, from 2008-2012. Prior to that, he was Director of the ANU Fenner School of Environment and Society. From 2004 to 2011 he served as science adviser to the Australian Government Department of Climate Change. He is currently a Climate Councillor with the Climate Council.

Er absolvierte 36 Pflichtspiele in der abgelaufenen Saison, dabei gelangen ihm 7 Tore und 8 Vorlagen, auch wenn man ihn nicht auf seine Statistiken reduzieren sollte, da Dzagoev mittlerweile deutlich defensiver agiert, mehr für den Aufbau tut und somit einen größeren Einfluss auf das gesamte Spieltempo hat. Der mögliche Shooting-Star: Hierbei kann man das möglich streiten. Wenn ein Spieler im russischen Kader das Zeug zum Shooting-Star hat, dann ist das Dzagoevs Teamkollege Aleksandr Golovin. Der 21-jährige stammt aus der Jugend von ZSKA Moskau, stand in 43 Spielen auf dem Platz und erzielte 7 Tore bei 6 Torvorlagen. Golovin besticht durch seine Dynamik und seine hervorragende Technik, ist schon jetzt sehr konstant und spielt teilweise instinktiv, macht auch in Bedrängnis wenige Fehler. Auf ihm lastet im Gegensatz zu Spielern wie Dzagoev aber nicht der große Druck, sodass er durch einen Schuss Unbekümmertheit eine ganz wichtige Rolle spielen kann, damit die Sbornaja ihre Ziele erreicht. Und das bedeutet mindestens das Erreichen des Achtelfinals. Der Trainer: Stanislav Cherchesov ist eine wahre Koryphäe. Der 54-jährige kam in seiner Karriere schon sehr viel herum, war als Spieler unter anderem für Sparta Moskau, Dynamo Dresden und den FC Tirol aktiv, sammelte als Trainer ebenfalls Erfahrungen in Tirol, coachte später Spartak Moskau, Amkar Perm, Dinamo Moskau und Legia Warschau. Seit August 2016 trainiert der die russische Nationalmannschaft, sein Vertrag läuft nach der Weltmeisterschaft aus. Bisher sammelte er in 18 Spielen eine durchschnittliche Punktzahl von 1,11 - was nicht gerade für Begeisterung sorgt. Allerdings waren, wie erwähnt, einige Gegner auch sehr stark. Es ist schwierig einzuschätzen, wo die Elf von Cherchesov zurzeit steht. Vielleicht weiß er es selbst noch nicht so genau Stärken und Schwächen: Russland geht mit Euphorie in dieses Turnier und hatte lange Zeit sich in Ruhe auf die Heim-WM vorzubereiten, zudem ist der Trainer sehr erfahren und der Kader mit Talenten und erfahrenen Spielern ausgestattet. Klar ist aber: Dass die russische Mannschaft in den letzten Jahren keine ernsthafte Wettkampfpraxis hatte, ist sicherlich kein Vorteil. Auch die schwache russische Liga, die hohen Erwartungen der Fans und die Verletzungsprobleme sind nicht gerade ideal. Ansonsten gibt es tatsächlich den ein oder anderen richtig guten Fußballer in den Reihen der russischen Mannschaft, die alten Haudegen in der Innenverteidigung wurden zwar ersetzt, aber die Individuelle Klasse ist trotzdem auf dieser Position nicht besonders hoch.
