Two Bits was released in North America in November 1995. It was directed by James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross) and starred Al Pacino (Glengarry Glen Ross), Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Scarface) and Jerry Barrone. It told the story of Gennaro, a young boy, who wants his Grandpa's last quarter so he can go to the movies, but he must first deliver a message from his ailing Grandpa to a woman he loved years prior. Set in 1933's Philadelphia, and also shot in the city. Two Bits was not a hit. In fact, it was seen by very few. A common explanation points to material hardship: when people feel left behind economically and socially, they often turn to radical political alternatives. One critical dimension of this hardship is housing — especially the lack of affordable and secure homes. Could building more affordable housing help reduce support for far-right parties?New research provides a nuanced answer. It finds that expanding access to social housing does seem to lower far-right support — but only in areas with low immigration. Alexian Santino Spinelli, musician, composer, writer, poet and university professor. The first Italian Roma to be appointed Commendatore of the Italian Republic for artistic and cultural merits. Spinelli with the Alexian Group holds numerous concerts in Italy and abroad. Founder and president of the cultural association Thèm Romanò, he is an ambassador of Romani culture in the world. Il libro è il prodotto di un progetto che mette insieme i nomi di artisti e di gruppi musicali, ognuno con la propria impronta e il proprio stile; e che avvia un processo collettivo di memoria e di consapevolezza: gli incidenti sul lavoro e le malattie professionali non sono qualcosa di occasionale e di imprevedibile. The recent death of Dave Myers, one half of ‘The Hairy Bikers' with Si King, has prompted this programme celebrating successful food friendships. Dave and Si made food shows and cookbooks that took their fans all over the world, and off-screen they were close friends. In this programme Ruth Alexander speaks to two chefs who have found success in food with a good friend. Ruth Rogers, co-founder of The River Cafe restaurant in London, talks about her partnership with the late Rose Gray, who died in 2010. Together they presented ‘The Italian Kitchen' for Channel 4 in the UK in 1998. Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo talks about his long friendship and work with the late chef Antonio Carluccio, and the TV series they made together for the BBC, ‘Two Greedy Italians' in 2011 and 2012.
