There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh. In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.

We kick off another Inside Music Row with the mention of Carrie Underwood - Carrie has been tapped to star in the role of Maria von Trapp in NBC's live broadcast of "The Sound Of Music." The three-hour event is based on the original Broadway musical from 1959. We also mention the CMA Songwriters Series as it is returning to the U.K. and Ireland next month - look for Kristian Bush, Brett James, Chris Young, and host Bob DiPiero. Sarah Darling is also in the news as she will be featured on cartons of chocolate Single Decker MoonPies in support of the Home To Me Sweepstakes. Look for the moonpies nationwide in many neighborhood grocery stores. Up next is the new book from music industry veteran Dave Rose: "Everything I Know About The Music Business I Learned From My Cousin Rick; The Musician's Practical Guide to Success." The book is geared towards musicians to help them navigate the twisting path of success in the music industry and is available through many online retailers, as well as at MyCousinRick.com. Finally, we go Inside The Song with Kristy Lee Cook to hear about her latest single "Airborne Ranger Infantry."
Kristy Lee Cook earned her way into America's hearts as a top ten finalist on American Idol's seventh season. After recording for a time on Arista Records, she's now been signed to Broken Bow Records...the label home to Jason Aldean, who is now the executive producer of her upcoming album. The lead single is a song she co-wrote about her Dad's experiences while serving in the Vietnam War. We headed out to a farm in Ashland City, Tennessee on the set of the music video for "Airborne Ranger Infantry" to see what it's all about.
GallantFew is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to reduce veteran suicide, unemployment and homelessness. Todays' guest is country music's Kristy Lee Cook. Kristy Lee was born in Seattle, Washington and was the seventh place finalist on the seventh season of American Idol. In 2005 Cook released her debut album called Devoted. She is releasing her new single "Airborne Ranger Infantry" on October 15th and will be on GallantFew's The New American Veteran internet radio show to talk about it, and we have permission to play it for you early!
Tonight on Ajam121 we got started with a few small and little bit weird impressions. From there we went into golf and how Tiger Woods gets mentioned even when he is sucking. I think it is a bit overkill but at least he has earned his position in the media unlike some people. We talk a little bit about the NCAA Tourny while in the middle of another subject that Adam was researching at the moment. American Idol was briefly mentioned particularly the incident involving Kristy Lee Cook and what she said to Simon after she was judged. If you don't know what that was I guess you are going have to listen to the cast for yourself. ajamshow@gmail.com
Tonight we reach our 120th episode and we pretty much used it up talking about mostly two things. Why? Who knows? We just started talking and a show was born. Well the show this week end up being about mostly nothing but golf and American Idol. In the golf world we were discussing the excitement surrounding Tigers win today(Sunday) and then it went from there to talking about the Masters upcoming and really just a variety of golf related topics from there. After that we did talk about American Idol and the possibility that they have extended the Beatles week to one more week. Well, at least that is the impression that we were given when the show left us last week. Even though the weakest performance did not get voted off this past week. I still believe that the voters made a good choice in choosing Hernandez to be voted off. You really could have gone with either him or Kristy Lee Cook and been justified. The only good reason I can see for keeping Kristy around for at least one more week is for the eye candy. I do think that as far as the bottom three went this week I would have replaced Syesha with Ramielle. Oh well, there is my two cents worth. Send us your comments. ajamshow@gmail.com
