***We sincerely apologize for the technical difficulties that impacted the audio quality of our recent podcast episode; despite these challenges, we have employed artificial intelligence editing tools to salvage the audio to ensure that our listeners can still enjoy and benefit from the content.*** Karl Monger is a remarkable figure with a solid commitment to serving veterans and their communities through his multiple roles and initiatives. As the founder and Executive Director of GallantFew, Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization established in 2010, he has dedicated himself to addressing and mitigating the challenges faced by veterans, including unemployment, homelessness, and suicide. Under his leadership, GallantFew has launched several innovative programs aimed at supporting veterans in their transition to civilian life and promoting their overall well-being. One of the cornerstone programs of GallantFew is The Darby Project, which connects Ranger veterans with those transitioning from active duty, facilitating mentorship and guidance. The Run Ranger Run initiative brings awareness to the arduous journey soldiers face when becoming civilians. Descendants of Sparta is a powerful peer anti-suicide program that provides vital support to those in need. Additionally, the Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) training program educates law enforcement on veteran issues and conflict de-escalation tactics. Karl's commitment to this cause is evident in his speaking engagements, having addressed nearly a thousand officers at six conferences in the past year. Karl's dedication to supporting veterans extends to his role as the owner and CEO of DriPowder, LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in business development and veteran care and support issues. His company's recent recertification by the Veterans Administration is a testament to its ongoing commitment to serving the veteran community. Karl also contributes his expertise as a consultant for the Kansas Small Business Development Center, helping veterans establish or expand their small businesses and advising corporations and agencies on veteran-related activities. His efforts were recognized in 2012 when he was named U.S. Small Business Administration Region VII Veteran Small Business Advocate of the Year. Karl's military service has been equally distinguished. He began his career as an Army ROTC scholarship cadet at Wichita State University, achieving the rank of Major and earning the title of Distinguished Military Graduate. His service record includes numerous leadership positions and deployments, including parachuting with the 1st Ranger Battalion into Kuwait in 1992. A graduate of various military schools, his commendable service has earned him several awards and decorations. Beyond his professional commitments, Karl is actively involved in the community, serving in leadership positions within various organizations and mentoring both veterans and young people in challenging situations. He lives in Texas with his family and is eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first grandchild. His story and the impact of his work serve as an inspiration, highlighting the power of dedication, leadership, and community in making a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and their families. Boone Cutler is an author, columnist, music video director and Warfighter Rights leader that has become the first nationally recognized radio talk show personality who is also a combat veteran from the current war. He began writing his Iraq War inspired novel "Voodoo in Sadr City" during his combat tour in Iraq and later completed it during his two-year recovery from wartime injuries at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, during the Neglect Scandal of 2007. After his recovery Boone began to see a major void in the Warfighter community and decided to approach Fox News affiliate 99.1 FM Talk with the concept of a new show that focused on national, international and social events based on the Warfighter's perspective. In 2011, his show "Tipping Point with Boone Cutler" began and gave him a weekly stage for his raw Paratrooper, no-holds-barred style, quickly becoming a hit over the air waves and online with curious mainstream American listeners, and his fellow Warfighters. In June 2014, "Tipping Point with Boone Cutler" began its partnership with KNEWS 107.3 FM in Reno, NV where it can be heard every Saturday. In 2010, Boone founded the National Warfighter Symposium to bring much needed attention to Warfighter issues such as post combat life changes and especially the alarming Warfighter suicide and homelessness rates. America currently loses at least 23 Warfighters (22 veterans + 1 active duty) to suicide every single day. This is a number that Boone has made his mission to combat by his creation of "The Spartan Pledge" for fellow Warfighters to who promise not to take their own lives and instead vow to find a new mission to help one another. He has chosen GallantFew.org, founded by Ranger Karl Monger as his signature charity In 2012, Boone was diagnosed with Early-Onset Parkinson's Disease secondary to a blast-injury in Iraq and is currently starting to campaign for more awareness on the issue of degenerative brain disease in the Warfighter Community. Governor Sandoval of Nevada appointed Boone to the Inter-agency Council on Veteran Affairs for the 2012/2013 term working with the council helping establish the objectives of The Green Zone Initiative based on the needs of Nevada's veterans. Boone believes in healing through the Art's and has remained periodically involved over the years helping to develop the Warfighter Community message as music video producer / director for REDCON-1 MUSIC GROUP after seeing first-hand the healing effects of music therapy. In 2014, Boone became the national spokesperson for the Warfighter Rights' Movement whose mission is to end Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder phobia that results in discrimination against Warfighters in employment, housing and the judicial process. On that mission he lived the Rangers Creed to the fullest, and dug out the bodies of the other soldiers who were captured and killed with Jessica Lynch. He was injured on his last deployment which in the end led to being discharged. Along the way he battled with substance abuse and PTSD, and was involved in a horrific vehicle accident while under the influence. He broke his neck among other injuries and was paralyzed from the chest down. Chris continued to battle with PTSD from combat, and from his accident and injuries and eventually attempted suicide. He never gave up and fought back, and faced his demons and with the help of the Gallant Few org, he regained control of his life, ended his substance abuse issues and carries on honoring our men and women of the armed forces. His daily life consists of helping veterans AND civilians battling suicide and by being a shining light of someone who never gave up! He is still paralyzed and lives with chronic pain but focuses 100% on helping others and giving back! A true hero in my book!He has a documentary called "The Ranger" and it is available on Amazon Prime, YouTube and Netflix. He can be reached at bemiss@galantfew.org

Military men and women face an enormous challenge transitioning from active duty to the civilian world, often describe it as the hardest thing they've ever done. Leaving behind a life and mission governed by purpose and putting their own life on the line in service to it, veterans often find re-entry to civilian life lacking and thus isolate themselves without help and resources. The GallantFew organization exists to help veterans reclaim hope and purpose in their lives as they reintegrate socially and professionally back into the civilian world.

The Hotwash is Honored to Present: Founder of GallantFew MAJ (R) Karl Monger WED 8 MAR 2017 7-8pm EST Call in @ (563) 999-3015 http://www.blogtalkradio.com/wor/2017/03/09/the-hotwash-presents-gallant-few-founder-maj-r-karl-monger GallantFew's mission is to prevent veteran isolation by connecting new veterans with hometown veteran mentors, thereby facilitating a peaceful, successful transition from military service to a civilian life filled with hope and purpose. We do this by creating and supporting a nationwide network of successfully transitioned veterans that engage locally with new veterans with the same military background now going through transition and by motivating communities all over the nation to take responsibility for veterans returning; welcoming, connecting, and including. We believe this will prevent veteran unemployment, homelessness and suicide. GallantFew was founded by Veterans for Veterans. We know that, in many cases, the trust level between a Veteran and one or more non-veterans can be low or nil. Another Veteran is sometimes the only assurance that a Veteran can have, the only trust, the only stability. GallantFew is Veterans from all branches of uniformed service, with no inter-service rivalry bullshit, helping our fellow Veterans in any way that we can. We've all been there when we were needed, when that call came. Now we know that at least we can trust one another to get some things done right. Because that's how Veterans get the important things done. With a plan, with standards, and with a commitment to one another. Welcome to GallantFew ! https://gallantfew.org/
Former 1/75 Ranger 01-07, 5 Combat deployments. Part of such missions as the Jessica Lynch POW rescue and recovery of her fellow Soldiers remains. Few know that Rangers dug with only their hands for hours to recover the remains of 8 Americans after Seal Team 6 had secured PFC Lynch in a Blackhawk. My 5th Combat tour, Jan 28th Mosul Iraq I was injured after being ejected from the turret of the Task Force Delta, Pandur I was a gunner on. Operator SFC Zaun was KIA, but only after he saved me and the others in the vehicle. I turned to alcohol to cope and 7 May 05 I flipped my car. Ejected once again, this time breaking my neck permanently paralyzing me from the chest down and spending 19 months in the hospital. For 16 months I was unable to eat or drink due to a hole in my esophagus. May 23 05 my girlfriend married me while still in the trauma unit. I finally left the hospital Dec of 06 immediately turning to prescription drugs and alcohol to self-medicate. It destroyed my marriage and Jul 13 my wife and little boy left me forever. After divorce, I tried numerous times to overdose or find the courage to put one in myself. Thankfully a Ranger brother SFC Jay Granger pulled me up and got me motivated in helping other Vets. 4 weeks later Jay died on a civilian skydive. Jay's family was on the drop zone, his wife and three boys saw him hit the ground. I made up in my mind after Jay passed, I was going to fearlessly honor him and help Vets, making no excuses for myself and fighting like hell to stop the 22 a day that commit suicide. I now volunteer with Gallant Few helping Vets daily. I have also made a PTSD documentary with the All Warrior Network in Los Angeles that was released last Memorial Day. The film THE RANGER has thankfully helped to save many lives! I stopped living for myself years ago and the one and only reason I do live is to help all of my Warfighter brothers and sisters. It truly is an honor to do so! RLTW SINE PARI JAY STRON
