Se por um lado Roberto Landell de Moura enfrentou dificuldades técnicas e financeiras para realizar as pesquisas, trabalhou sozinho e sofreu resistências das autoridades e da população, o inventor depois de muito tempo teve um tardio reconhecimento como Patrono da cidade de São Paulo e foi incluído no livro de Heróis da Pátria, em 2012. Alguns dão o crédito ao italiano Guglielmo Marconi, mas outros, sobretudo os brasileiros, dão o crédito ao gaúcho Landell de Moura. Landell nasceu em Porto Alegre em 1861. Era conhecido por todos na cidade como o "Padre Cientista". Era aficionado por estudar diferentes áreas da física, especialmente da radiotelegrafia e da radiotelefonia. Algumas vezes o chamavam de Padre Bruxo, por alegarem que ele usava magia durante suas apresentações públicas das suas novas descobertas. Mas e aí? Quem inventou o rádio? De acordo com - César Augusto dos Santos, autor do livro "Quem inventou o rádio?": "As diferenças técnicas entre as invenções dos dois cientistas são: Marconi patenteou na Inglaterra, em 12 de setembro de 1896, somente a transmissão-recepção eletrônica por centelhamento dos sinais telegráficos em código Morse (...) Landell de Moura, por sua vez patenteou, no Brasil, em 9 de março de 1901, um sistema fotônico-eletrônico. Dessa forma, o cientista brasileiro inovou, em relação à patente de Marconi, a prioridade na transmissão-recepção mundial da palavra, ou fonia, em emissão fotônica-eletrônica, até então sem patentes mundiais".

O inventor do rádio foi o padre gaúcho Landell Roberto de Moura, apesar de a invenção estar erroneamente associada ao italiano Guglielmo Marconi. Nascido há 160 anos, no dia 21 de janeiro, Padre Landell foi o primeiro no mundo no ano de 1899. Seu invento foi patenteado no Brasil e no exterior, mas, apesar do pioneirismo, padre Landell não teve condições financeiras para desenvolver e implantar um sistema de rádio no Brasil.
