Now in year three of my Pride Month Feature coverage on the show, I'm more excited than I've ever been about shining a light onto the diversity of projects representing queer focused characters and getting to chat with the creators who make them. For myself, Pride this year feels like a more somber affair as the current administration seeks to not only suppress the struggle of the queer community but also to attempt to eliminate their history and in the most extreme cases, invalidating that certain people even have the right to exist but instead of getting down about it, let's flip the script so it is my pleasure to host comic creators Alex L. Combs and Andrew Eakett to talk about their engaging new graphic novel out now Trans History: From Ancient Times to the Present Day from Candlewick Press. I encourage everyone to pick up Trans History: From Ancient Times to the Present Day and to approach it with an open and curious mind. I went into it not knowing exactly what to expect and came out with a much more rounded historical perspective and love the use of a comics formatting to make what many consider a drier subject matter with history in general, far more engaging. Buy it direct from Candlewood Press. Alex's website Alex on BlueSky Further education as discussed by Alex and Andrew on the show Ajuan Mance author of Gender Studies: The Confessions of an Accidental Outlaw Bishakh Som author of Spellbound Breena Nuñez and Lawrence Lindell (I mispronounced "Lindell" and am really embarrassed!) creators of the indie comics collective Laneha House Sensitivity readers used in the book: Writing Diversely Hans Lindahl Trans History: From Ancient Times to the Present Day From the publisher An essential introduction to trans history, from ancient times to the present day, in full-color graphic nonfiction format. Deeply researched, highly readable, and featuring a broad range of voices. What does “trans” mean, and what does it mean to be trans? Diversity in human sex and gender is not a modern phenomenon, as readers will discover through illustrated stories and records that introduce historical figures ranging from the controversial Roman emperor Elagabalus to the swashbuckling seventeenth-century conquistador Antonio de Erauso to veterans of the Stonewall uprising Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. In addition to these individual profiles, the book explores some of the societal roles played by trans people beginning in ancient times and shows how European ideas about gender were spread across the globe. It explains how the science of sexology and the growing acceptance of (and backlash to) gender nonconformity have helped to shape what it means to be trans today. Illustrated conversations with modern activists, scholars, and creatives highlight the breadth of current trans experiences and give readers a deeper sense of the diversity of trans people, a group numbering in the millions. Extensive source notes provide further resources. Moving, funny, heartbreaking, and empowering, this remarkable compendium from trans creators Alex L. Combs and Andrew Eakett is packed with research on every dynamic page. PATREON We have a new Patreon, CryptidCreatorCornerpod. Carol Hoeksema was born at the Salvation Army Evangeline Home for unwed mothers in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1957, where she stayed the first 13 days of her life before going to an unknown foster family arranged by Bethany Christian Services. At 3 months, she was given to her adoptive parents and raised in the Dutch immigrant community of Pella, Iowa. She always knew that she was adopted and was curious about her roots. At age 19, she started her search by going to the adoption agency, and over the next 15 years, she was able to find and contact the families of both birth parents. After experiencing a secondary rejection by her mother, she found healing and belonging in doing genealogy research. In contrast, her late father's family welcomed her with open arms. She has lived a rich life, full of family, friends, and adventures. A retired family physician, Carol lives with her husband on Camano Island, Washington. They have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. In this interview, she tells the story of her adoption and search for her roots so that her descendants will know their history, too, and wants to give hope to others experiencing birth mother rejection.Sign up for our mailing list to get updates and the Eventbrite - (soon to be published) - for our September 12th & 13th Washington, D.C. Daily Voice Devotional with Niyi AdekunleTuesday, 29th AprilHe's Alive Again: The Present-Day Ministry of Jesus 9Jesus' resurrection is not just a one-off demonstration of power grace, and love—it is a continuous theme of His present-day ministry on our behalf. As we reflect on the resurrection this season, it's important to understand that Jesus' triumph was not just to prove that the Kingdom of God was more powerful than the kingdom of darkness, we were on His mind. He is our perfect representative in heaven. He is fully God, yet fully man, and He understands every struggle we face. When Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, (Phil. 4:13)" it is rooted in the understanding that Jesus walked this earth, experienced its challenges and triumphed, so we can receive that same grace from Him. God is not distant or disconnected from our daily lives. He is intimately involved in every detail—big and small. When you are sensitive to His presence, you'll realize He constantly inviting you: "Bring your pressures, your victories, your failures, your celebrations, your pain—bring it all to Me." He desires to be an active part of your life, no matter the situation. At the throne of grace, Jesus is interceding for you. Whether you need mercy, strength, wisdom, or grace, He is ready to supply it. He knows your weaknesses, your fears, your dreams—and He cares deeply. You are not alone. Whether you feel you're in a good place with Him or even if you stumbled, His arms remain open. He invites you to come boldly, to receive help, healing, and restoration. He is our true High Priest, always present, always faithful. Take advantage of all He's made available to you and watch how it would add beauty to your life.God bless you, enjoy your day.

Daily Voice Devotional with Niyi AdekunleFriday 25th AprilHe's Alive Again: The Present-Day Ministry of Jesus 5Jesus Christ is risen and alive, this is the foundation of our faith and the essence of His present-day ministry. Often, we focus so much on what He did in the past that we forget He's actively ministering even now.His present-day ministry operates in two realms: in heaven and on earth. Heaven is the headquarters of Kingdom and the earth is the operation field. Jesus present day ministry on the earth is through the Holy Spirit and the church, in heaven He serves in a number of roles but we will consider three that directly impact us.1. High Priest: Jesus, after His resurrection, presented His own blood to the Father as the final sacrifice for our sins. As our high priest, He continually represents us before God, fulfilling the priestly role of standing in the gap for humanity. Hebrews 4:14 reminds us that we have a great high priest in God's presence—Jesus, the Son of God.2. Advocate: Jesus is also our advocate, our divine lawyer, supporter, the one defending us against the accusations of the enemy. According to 1 John 2:1, even when we stumble, we have Someone who speaks on our behalf before the Father. His advocacy doesn't excuse us from prayer or give us the right to sin because we have an advocate.3. Intercessor: Jesus still intercedes for us. His prayers continue for us in heaven, as seen in the book of Hebrews. His intercession ensures we're continually covered and supported in our walk with God.These three roles, high priest, advocate and intercessor are a major part of His present-day ministry in heaven and influence every aspect of our spiritual journey on earth. They are not just theological titles; they are active, ongoing expressions of His love and commitment to us. May His present day ministry become real in your life in Jesus' Name.God bless you. Enjoy the rest of your day.

DVD With Niyi Adekunle Thursday 24th April He's Alive Again: The Present-Day Ministry of Jesus 4Many wonder what Jesus is doing now. Is He in heaven simply to wait for the rapture of the saints? Is He watching us from afar as we go through life's challenges? The Bible clearly shows that Jesus is not idle in heaven. He is actively involved in our world. Ephesians 1:20–22 (MSG) says God raised Christ from the dead and set Him in authority over the universe—galaxies, governments, and all things—now and forever. Christ rules it all, through the Church. The Gospels show Jesus' earthly ministry, but the epistles reveal His ongoing work through the Church. How does He do this?John 16:14–15 (TPT) explains that the Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus by receiving what is His and revealing it to us. Everything the Father has belongs to Jesus, and the Spirit brings that divine knowledge to us. This highlights a powerful partnership: the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and us.Though Jesus ascended, He is present on earth through the Holy Spirit. He reveals the will of the Father to us, and as we respond in obedience, that's how His will is done on earth as in heaven. So, part of the present-day ministry of Jesus is this: He receives from the Father, gives to the Holy Spirit, who then reveals it to us. Through our obedience, Jesus continues to rule and work on earth. The more we yield to Him, the more His glory is revealed. You have a vital role in this ministry.I pray that in the name of Jesus, you will not miss your part in what He is doing today. God bless you enjoy your day

Daily Voice Devotional with Niyi AdekunleWednesday, 23rd AprilHe's Alive Again: The Present-Day Ministry of Jesus 3Jesus' ministry is well and active at the right hand of the Father in heaven, He's for the restoring and fulfilling all things. This work is ongoing and will continue until the end of time. The work Jesus is doing from heaven today impacts on the entire universe, government, the church and even into our personal lives. Many of us need restoration and long to see God's promises fulfilled in our lives. Jesus is doing this work—through the Holy Spirit, the angels and through us, His church.A powerful reminder from an old song declares:“He's alive again, the stone's been rolled away. He's alive again, He is no longer where He lay. He's alive again, I can hear the angels sing. He's alive!”The truth of this song is encouraging to us, why? No matter how dark or hopeless life gets, Jesus is alive, and the devil does not have the final say. Jesus' current ministry is about bringing healing, purpose, and power to every area of life.Eph. 1:20-22 MSG, All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but [forever]. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church.Jesus taught us to pray, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” God's will is being carried out through His people on earth today. As we grasp this truth and yield to Him, we walk in His authority and dominion. God bless you, enjoy your day.

Courtney Eaton's Lottie Matthews continues to be one of the most enigmatic characters in the Yellowjackets ensemble, making her one of the most exciting to track. And while it's nearly impossible to explain away all of Lottie's choices and actions, especially in Season 3, the character is still shockingly grounded courtesy of the fact that Eaton understands her and has successfully established an anchor for the character via her own intuition and instincts as an actor. As Eaton noted during her first Collider Ladies Night appearance for Yellowjackets Season 2, “Lottie does everything from the best place. She's trying to give her heart to everyone. It might not come across in the right way sometimes, but she's always well intentioned.” Does that thinking still apply when it comes to axe murder, ruining the group's chance of recuse, pushing Travis (Kevin Alves) to the brink, and then some in Season 3? Eaton does, indeed, hold tight to that mentality. “[Lottie] knows that the best version of herself is once she's connected [to the wilderness] and that can help the group.”During her second go-around on Collider Ladies Night, Eaton digs into how that thinking influenced Lottie's choices this season, offers her thoughts on Lottie possibly being the one who burned down the cabin, confirms how far Lottie walked over the pit during that scene with Travis, reveals if Lottie was really trying to help Mari during the hunt, and so much more! The late Paleozoic ice age began in the Late Devonian and ended in the Late Permian, occurring from 360 to 255 million years ago. It was similar to the present day in two key respects: rising atmospheric CO2 and recurrent major ice sheets. In the podcast, Isabel Montañez explains how we can use proxies to learn about the climate and ocean conditions that prevailed then. And with the help of a model, she says that we can also learn about sensitivities and feedbacks of Earth systems to rising CO2. Among other things, the model suggests that when the atmosphere reaches the present day level of CO2, significant parts of the ocean may become anoxic and ocean circulation patterns alter.Montañez is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of California, Davis.

Why do you think God chose to be illiterate when he came to earth? When Jesus taught the Lord's Prayer, did he mean we should only pray that way and not ask for any other specific items?

On this episode of the Influence Continuum, I spoke with Craig Unger, an investigative journalist and the author of Den of Spies, which is described in his biography as “a real-life political thriller about how master spy William Casey put together a treasonous covert operation in 1980 that hijacked American foreign policy and stole the election for Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.” Craig is also the author of six books on the Republican party's assault on democracy, including American Kompromat: How the KGB Cultivated Donald Trump and Related Tales of Sex, Greed, Power, and Treachery. He has written for New York Magazine, The New Republic, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Esquire, The Independent, and many others. “Initially, I think, it was very covert, as I show in this book. Everything was behind the scenes. With Trump today, it's almost overt,” Craig said, noting Trump's direct message in 2016 to Russia to retrieve Clinton's emails. I noted The Wall Street Journal's recent article citing Elon Musk's relationship with Vladimir Putin and secret conversations. We then discussed the volumes of evidence supporting the idea that Trump was recruited as an asset for the KGB in the 1980s. This book is a well researched documented revealing of how American Democracy has been manipulated. Tragic and Americans wil now see what is brought to power.
