Ep 13 - - James Bond - No Time To Die, But A Lifetime to LiveIn this episode, I dive into the thrilling world of James Bond with a review of "No Time To Die." Bond is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica after leaving active service, but his peace is short-lived. His old CIA friend, Felix Leiter, shows up asking for help with a stolen DNA-based bioweapon that has global implications. Before Bond can start the mission, he must ensure that Madeleine Swann isn't hiding any Spectre secrets. An explosion at Vesper's grave convinces Bond that Madeleine may be keeping secrets from him.My paranormal review begins with the DNA weapon, highlighting its eternal storyline. The Bible points out that the struggle on Earth is between those who want to corrupt God's bloodline and those who want to preserve it. "No Time To Die" places bloodline at the core of the storyline for Bond, both personally and professionally.Want to hear more? SPECTRE – can this James Bond movie be defended? Dan and Tom bring Vicky back to answer this question. While SPECTRE is not often in a James Bond fan's top 5 list, it is often in a Bond fan's bottom 10 list. Why is that? What about this movie turns fans off? Dan, Tom, and Vicky uncover both the positives and the negatives of SPECTRE to try to figure out if it can be defended. Let's Look At The Negatives They start with a look at some of the negatives of SPECTRE. Dan, Tom, and Vicky think one of the problems is the reason Blofeld hates James Bond. At least the reason Blofeld tells Bond. Dan says that this plot point irks him. Or maybe it is the character of Madeleine Swann. Vicky says she thinks the character is too flat. Or maybe it is the writing of Purvis and Wade. You know Tom will chime in on that one. And more. And Now The Positives To be sure, there are some positives in SPECTRE. Such as: The production quality is top-notch, a signature of Eon Productions' James Bond movies. The spectacular pre-title sequence. The supporting cast. And more. This is a lively discussion as the three of them aren't in agreement on all the positives and negatives. So, What Do You Think: SPECTRE – can this James Bond movie be defended? So, what are your reasons for liking or disliking SPECTRE? Can you defend it? Let us know your thoughts, ideas for future episodes, and what you thought of this episode. No Time To Die is Daniel Craig's final outing as James Bond. This time, he's dealing with the skeletons of his past while trying to build himself a future. That future may or may not include Léa Seydoux, who returns as Madeleine Swann — she's nursing a secret involving Rami Malek's Safin, who's a kind of classic Bond villain, factory-installed with a master plan, a secret headquarters and access to a terrible bioweapon. The film is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, and add newcomers Lashana Lynch and Ana de Armas to join in on the action.
People don't come much more chic or more soothing (it's the French accent isn't it?!) than this week's guest on Reign with Josh Smith, it's the Bond Girl herself, Léa Seydoux! I am BEY-BOND excited for the release of the latest James Bond film 'No Time To Die', so it was epic to talk to the ONLY Bond Girl in history to return to the film franchise, after starring in the last movie, Spectre. We got into how Léa broke down the outdated ‘Bond Girl' stereotypes with her character, Madeleine Swann and why she refuses to ‘play the game' of sexualising herself or her characters anymore - yas queen! Léa also spoke about how Phoebe Waller Bridge joining the writing team brought Bond into a post Me-Too era, how she was in a very ‘vulnerable' place whilst filming, and how taking on such a physical role made her reflect on her body image. Elsewhere in the episode Léa opens up about her mental health and how Imposter Syndrome affects her - it's pretty reassuring that even a Bond Girl feels like an imposter sometimes, right? I can totally relate to Léa's words. Léa also reflects back on her career and respecting her inner voice. You might remember Lea's career-changing role in the queer coming-of-age movie, 'Blue is The Warmest Colour', where she made history at the Cannes Film Festival winning the top prize, the Palme d'Or as the first actor to do so! And off screen, as the Time's Up movement was born, Léa talked about her own experiences of sexual harassment in a very powerful article in The Guardian. This is an actress who is just as powerful off-screen as she is on-screen, and is an important role model for making sure YOUR voice is always valued. You will next see Léa in the new Wes Anderson movie, The French Dispatch starring alongside Timothée Chalamet, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton and given that stunning cast list I couldn't resist getting a little tea on that movie, too! I really hope you continue to listen and find the power to Reign in your own lives, too. Until next time, WEAR THOSE CROWNS WITH PRIDE and get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts), I love hearing from you. Love, Josh xxxP.S I am so proud that this episode of Reign with Josh Smith is brought to you thanks to my friends at Pandora because their new collection, Pandora Me, is all about embracing who you are and celebrating self expression - just like this very podcast! It's time for part 2 of James Bond Radio's '30 Days of No Time To Die.' In today's episode, Tom & Chris talk about the first part of the pre-title sequence. We discuss the young Madeleine Swann witnessing the murder of her mother by our new villain Lyutsifer Safin, and take a look at the opening to the Matera sequence.
We chatted to some of the cast of No Time To Die, including Rami Malek (playing the movie's villain Safin), Ben Whishaw (who plays Q), and Lea Seydoux (returning as Madeleine Swann). We also chatted to the movie's director/co-writer Cary Joji Fukanaga, and they all discussed their favourite Bond songs, their first/best memories of Craig as Bond, and loads more!
Led by interviews from Rami Malek, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw and Lashana Lynch, we'll explore what makes a classic supporting character and look back at some of 007's most iconic nemeses such as Le Chiffre from Casino Royale, Raoul Silva from Skyfall, Blofeld and Rami Malek introduces his new supervillain: Safin. We'll dig deep into Bond's greatest allies, tracing Miss Moneypenny's role in the series, Jeffery Wright's interpretation of Felix Leiter and hear from Léa Seydoux on the return of Madeleine Swann. We also meet new 00 agent Nomi as Lashana Lynch explains what this newest MI6 recruit means for Bond… The series' longstanding casting director Debbie McWilliams will also take us behind the scenes to uncover how she and her team find the perfect cast for a James Bond film. You can also be the first to hear exclusive score from Hans Zimmer released by Decca Records.
