"I'm joking. I'm joking. I'm joking. I'm joking. I'm joking. I'm joking. Big respect. Big respect. Big respect. Big respect." So, 'The Big Suey' will hereforth be called 'Hour 1,' but not the first hour of the show, which remains the 'Local Hour,' and so the second hour is 'Hour 1,' not Hour 2, and that is because 'Hour 2' is actually the third hour, and the fourth hour is now Hour 3. Got it? Also, the best baseball play ever made was supplanted by another play over the weekend, but that play wasn't the greatest play of the weekend. Got it? Send us a textWhat happens when you bring together three comedy legends with wildly different styles? Pure entertainment gold. This episode delivers a masterclass in comedic diversity featuring Andy Kindler, Bobby Slayton, and a rare behind-the-scenes moment with Gary Shandling.First up is Andy Kindler, known for his work on "Everybody Loves Raymond" and as a regular on "Late Night with David Letterman." His set from a special concert in Canada showcases his signature brand of industry-insider humor and meta-comedy. With jokes ranging from Nazi documentaries to social media absurdities, Kindler demonstrates why he's considered a comedian's comedian. His self-referential style and willingness to embrace awkwardness create moments of brilliance that highlight his unique voice in the stand-up world.Bobby Slayton takes the stage next with a performance recorded live at Laughs Unlimited. Nicknamed the "Pitbull of Comedy," Slayton lives up to his reputation with a no-holds-barred examination of relationships and romance. His hilarious deconstruction of supposedly romantic activities—from candlelight dinners to showering together—resonates with audiences through its brutal honesty. Slayton's masterful crowd work and rapid-fire delivery demonstrate why he's been a fixture in comedy clubs and films like "Bandits" and "Dreamgirls."The episode concludes with something truly special: an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes recording of Gary Shandling preparing for a television interview about his role in the 2006 animated film "Over the Hedge." This rare glimpse into Shandling's natural wit reveals the improvisational genius that made him a pioneer of meta-comedy in shows like "The Larry Sanders Show." His bizarre tangents about teaching dogs acting skills and what might be found in his garbage showcase the free-associative style that influenced a generation of comedians.Whether you're drawn to Kindler's self-deprecating observations, Slayton's unapologetic relationship truths, or Shandling's meandering absurdity, this episode offers something for every comedy fan. One might think that by my fifth year of doing this podcast, I'd remember to introduce the guest at the beginning of the episode! Sadly, I did not in this case. So, this is my conversation with Liv Wickedly, a multidimensional artist and creative who loves jumping in to try new things, a woman after my own heart. We talk about art as intentional self-expression, through whatever medium feels right, which has personal value regardless of how it may be 'liked.' Reaction and feedback from others, however it may align with your own feelings and intentions, are always better than ambivalence. And we talk about vulnerability as raw or tender moments of being seen, or even seeing oneself, when we aren't feeling so certain or clear about what we're sharing of ourselves. To learn more about Liv and her work, you can explore livwickedly.com as well as her profile on instagram @livwickedly For more information about the Gene Keys, you can listen to episodes 115 and 117, my conversations with Elijah Parker, or visit genekeys.com And check out Babe Philosophy, the podcast Liv hosts with best friend Meli Wolf, which is 'a podcast where questions matter more than answers, where liminal spaces are revered, and where magic is practical.'

In this Thanksgiving week episode of Citizen McCain, Meghan and Miranda celebrate the season of giving, swap favorite holiday traditions, and talk about real ways to support families in need, from food banks and adopt-a-family programs to paying off layaways. The conversation gets heated as they dig into the viral discourse around Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande's dramatic weight loss during the press tour for 'Wicked,' and what feels like a cultural return to "heroin chic" just as Hollywood and social media glamorize Ozempic. They also break down Marjorie Taylor Greene's surprise resignation from Congress and the growing civil war inside the GOP, fueled by antisemitism, conspiracy obsession, and the sudden split between MAGA influencers and traditional conservatives. Meghan, Miranda, and guest Christine Rosen react to the shockingly cozy Oval Office meeting between Trump and Zohran Mamdani, now being dubbed a political lovefest, and what it signals for New York, the future of the party, and the pro-Israel fight on the right. Later, Ryan Manion joins to share how military families navigate grief during the holidays, the mission of the Travis Manion Foundation, and her new children's book, "Things My Brother Used to Say." Welcome to Director Watch! On this AwardsWatch podcast, co-hosts Ryan McQuade and Jay Ledbetter attempt to breakdown, analyze, and ultimately, get inside the mind of some of cinema's greatest auteurs. In doing so, they will look at their filmographies, explore what drives them artistically and what makes their decision making process so fascinating. Add in a few silly tangents and a fun game at the end of the episode and you've got yourself a podcast we truly hope you love. On episode 113 of the Director Watch Podcast, the boys are joined by AwardsWatch Associate Editor Sophia Ciminello discuss the last film in their Paul Verhoeven series, Benedetta (2021). For Verhoeven's latest film, the director reteamed with his Elle collaborator David Birke, to make a religious film, as he's an expert scholar of the Jesus Seminar, even writing a book in 2007 entitled Jesus of Nazareth. Though his adaptation of his book, along with several other projects, didn't come to head, he was able to make Benedetta, a loose adaptation of Judith C. Brown's Immodest Acts: The Life of a Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy, following the life of a nun (Virginie Efira) who joins the Italian convent while she was a young child and later has a forbidden love affair with another nun, while also seeing religious visions that make her seem like she has direct contact with Jesus. Wickedly hilarious, sensual, and fascinating, Benedetta is a thorny tale of the complexities of faith, as well as Verhoeven's critique of the church, an institution that he's examined for all of his life. Ryan, Jay, and Sophia break down their thoughts on the film, just how funny the film is, if it has more to say than what Verhoeven is bringing up on the surface, the dream sequences, Benedetta's struggles with temptation, Jay's love of The Great Gatsby, Sophia's story about seeing the film at the world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, and splinters. And seeing that it is the end of the series, the boys give out their Paul Verhoeven rankings as well as preview their new director series starting new week. You can listen to the Director Watch Podcast wherever you stream podcasts, from iTunes, iHeartRadio, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music, YouTube and more. This podcast runs 2h44m. The guys will be back next week to begin their new series on the films of Yasujirō Ozu with a review of his film, Late Spring. You can rent it via iTunes and Amazon Prime rental in preparation for the next episode of Director Watch. Till then, let's get into it.
