Erzincan'ın İliç ilçesindeki Çöpler Altın Madeni'nde 13 Şubat'ta meydana gelen maden faciasından birkaç saat önce işçilerin çektikleri fotoğraflara ilk kez Medyascope ulaştı. Fotoğraflarda toprakta çatlaklar olduğu ve bir makinanın kuma batarak bir tarafa doğru yattığı görüldü. İşçiler bu çatlaklara rağmen ekiplerin sahadan çekilmediklerini söyledi. Bir işçi, “Sahadan çatlakları raporlayan arkadaşımız göçük altında” dedi. İşçiler olay sırasında herhangi bir alarmın çalmadığını ve alanın terk edilmesi yönünde bir çağrı yapılmadığını söyledi.
