This was the day we truly became Season Eleven, Blue Ballers. Jake and Trey can't help themselves — your boys in blue devote the WHOLE episode to a man-by-man and play-by-play unpacking of the 2-1 victory over Orlando in NYCFC's tenth-anniversary home opener. It was a game of generations; we chat MOTM Johnny Shore's ascendance, the indispensability of the invisibly geriatric Maxi Moralez, Kevin's Toole Time Takedown and the subsequent ten minutes of white knuckles, and we don't even get to Matt Freese's ice cold toes that left the home side with a sweet three points. THEN: a tidy little precap of New England. Will Carles Gil be our boys' achilles heel? Or will Johnny Shore Up The Defense once again? Get your Nuts 4 Nuts ready — you've got Blue Balls.

OLE OLE OLE OLE // OLE // OLE // After a BRUISING 2021 season, highs and lows, ups and downs, doubts and determinations, injuries and miracles, your NYCFC stood tall on Sunday and secured the EASTERN CONFERENCE TITLE -- someone should probably make sure that brand new silverware doesn't get any pigeon mess on it!! BEENG BONG, Blue Ball bitches! We're here to RECAP IT ALL FOR YOU -- the game-winner from double-sub supercrew Talles Magno and Gudi Thorarrinson, the quick recovery off a BALLSY shot from Chanot delivered by the tiny patriarch Maxi Moralez, even the stumbly fumbly first half that had us all smelling toast and getting numb in the left arm. Jake and Trey are here to break it down -- and what it means for Portland and Golden Boot winner Taty Castellanos' return. PLUS: Jim Curtin's tweetable and shit-eatable snipes, Narrative Narrative Narrative, the Fash question, seat total woes, and of course a preview of our rivals in the West hunting for their second-ever MLS cup. Plus a pint-size precap to an LAFC match away that promises white-knuckle moments galore. You ain't seen nothin' yet, folks -- you've got Blue Balls.

A new episode is out and this time Aaron (Autto421) joins Jordan and me on the podcast. We quickly recap the gritty 3-2 victory NYCFC had against Inter Miami but then the conversation switches to the rumors that Alexandru Mitrita will be loaned, with an option to be bought, to Al Ahli FC. This news couldn't have come at a worse time after Mitrita playing his best two matches of the year and that Maxi Moralez is still injured. Aaron breaks down his thoughts of NYC's season and it's head coach Ronny Deila performance. Then we finish up previewing the match against DC United which is being played for the first time in eight months at Yankee Stadium. Join us on SportsHosts and be entered in our monthly NYCFC merch giveaway: http://thenycfcnation.com/sportshostsapp Game recap provided by MLS Soccer New York City FC continued their strong run of form, twice seeing off Inter Miami comebacks to win 3-2 at Inter Miami CF Stadium on Saturday courtesy of two goals from Alexandru Mitrita. All five goals came in a rollercoaster of a first half when momentum swung rapidly between the two teams. Mitrita got the scoring going early, running in behind the Miami defense and providing a neat one-time finish to an Alex Ring ball over the top. We had to wait a while for the game's second goal, Lewis Morgan applying an emphatic right-footed finish to a stylish team move involving Blaise Matuidi and Victor Ulloa in the 27th minute. But the goals then came thick and fast. Eight minutes later, Anton Tinnerholm drove forward and cut inside from the right before beating Luis Robles with a low left-footed shot from 20 yards, Miami again pulled level in the 38th minute. Morgan grabbed his second of the night, this one even more spectacular than his first as he struck an unstoppable right-footed shot after a layoff from Gonzalo Higuain. But the parity lasted just five minutes. Mitrita matched Morgan with his second goal, running from deep inside his own half and into the Miami area before getting the benefit of a deflection off Ben Sweat to find the net. That proved to be the end of the scoring, though Miami were celebrating a late equalizer from Julian Carranza only to have it called back for offside following a video review. Not only do we have actual soccer to discuss, but we’re talking about an Orlando City victory, which makes it even sweeter. Christian Smith, manager of Hudson River Blue, joins us to break down the Orlando City vs. New York City FC match-up and what we can expect from the Pigeons. They won’t have Maxi Moralez but the New Yorkers will still have plenty of quality on the pitch and the Lions better step up their game. In the latest episode of the "Soccer in the City" podcast, the guys talk about the importance of the 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes - the fourth match in the last six where New York City FC came back from a goal down to win the match. NYCFC won for the first time in nine matches without playmaker Maxi Moralez and the boys describe how City changed their style without the MLS leader in assists. Also, they respond to the postgame comments from San Jose coach Matias Almeyda who called City’s home a “small-sided field” that is “not real."
In this episode, Andrew Wiebe, David Gass and Bobby Warshaw have a long conversation about Sergino Dest, emerging Ajax fullback, US U-20 star and US national team starter against Mexico. Only … we didn’t know that when we recorded! So the guys ponder whether Gregg Berhalter will start the 19-year-old dual national, who just got a call from the Dutch U-23s and what the push and pull says about the program. Plus, Bobby builds his ideal “play proactively” XI against El Tri. >Also in the episode … Nations League begins and Canada know they’ve got to be perfect! The guys heap praise on the underrated Maxi Moralez, NYCFC’s diminutive playmaker. Are LAFC vulnerable without Carlos Vela? Yeah, probably. Top expansion draft picks and most disappointing MLS team of the last decade. 3:40 – Sergino Dest … Should he start vs. Mexico (he will, says Berhalter) and what’s his future with USMNT? 23:12 – How should the US play against Mexico? 32:38 – Goal.com’s Jon Arnold gives the Mexico perspective 39:36 – Why Concacaf Nations League matters and is very fun 43:37 – Why Canada has to be perfect to get into the Hex … and that’s fair 48:05 – Maxi Moralez is the most underrated attacker in MLS 52:48 – Are LAFC just a little bit vulnerable? What if Vela is out come playoffs? 55:10 – MAIL: Best expansion draft pick of all-time? Most disappointing team in the last decade?
New York City FC thrashed FC Cincinnati at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night, 5-2. The Pigeons have a 22-day break from regular MLS matches and own the league’s longest current active unbeaten steak at 10. The arrival of Héber and the emergence of Taty Castellanos are two players whose contributions are discussed at length. And with Maxi Moralez contract set to expire at the end of 2019, should NYCFC be talking to his agent about an extension - the boys think so.

Plus, we talk about the forthcoming Audi Field in DC, how short Maxi Moralez is, and precisely which transit line goes to Qualcomm Stadium. All that and more in the latest Straight Red #WarOnAlex #Tramp100K Follow @StraightRedPod on Twitter for dispatches straight from the StraightRedplex. Send all food questions to @geoffisfamous on Twitter.
Se fue Ali Curtis de Red Bulls como se esperaba, pero vuelven Rodney Wallace y Fredy Montero a la MLS. También analizamos la llegada de Maxi Moralez y hacemos una previa de Concachampions.
In the thirty-fifth episode of Hand Of Pod, Sam, Dan, Dan and Seba begin with a discussion of just how much of a massive idiot Carlos Tevez is, and conclude with a reflection on Cristian Fabbiani's suitability for the second division in Argentina. In between we discuss Wednesday night's Brazil v Argentina friendly second leg, Seba wishes death on Diego Maradona (sort of), we wonder whether anyone can catch Boca Juniors at the top of the league, ponder San Lorenzo's problems in the relegation zone and remark on what a lovely little player Olimpo number 10 Martín Rolle is. This weekend sees the clásico de Avellaneda between Racing and Independiente, and we also preview that, as well as answering a listener's question on former Racing and Vélez Sarsfield star Maxi Moralez, now with Atalanta in Italy. Enjoy.
