Welcome to Eurotales, where we offer a refreshing change from the same old stories about European football's top clubs. This week, we're heading to France to catch up with our friend, respected journalist Roy Calley, now based in the beautiful French Riviera. After years with the BBC, Roy was drawn to OGC Nice, where he's now a season ticket holder and deeply involved in the vibrant French football scene. OGC Nice is a club often affected by changes in the wind, and its landscape has shifted significantly since Franck Haise took over as manager last summer. Haise's appointment is a major coup for the club, owned by Manchester United's Jim Ratcliffe. As the former Lens manager, Haise masterminded the RC Lens fairy tale, using his shrewd management skills to help the team achieve more than expected. With Haise at the helm, OGC Nice is set to adopt a new philosophy, revamping tactics and team dynamics. The club's ability to adapt to high-profile player departures will test its resilience and ambition. As OGC Nice navigates this period of change, questions arise about its future direction, identity, and competitive edge in Ligue 1, especially with Monaco, Marseille, and Lille reemerging as strong contenders. Roy Calley's insight sheds light on this transformative time, combining local expertise with journalistic acumen. Hello Colorado Rapids fans and UP THE ****ING PIDS! This week on Holding The High Line, THE RAPIDS beat Club America! Rabbi and Red banter about Moïse Bombito officially going OGC Nice. Check out our special exit interview with Moïse here. Then we bask in the joy of that win over America. The game plan worked and the players executed it very well. Colorado still played like the smaller team at times. It was another 50/50 game they found a way to win. We relive the penalties heroics from Zack Steffen AGAIN. Liga MX fans are coping and maybe finally seeing the excuses MLS fans made for years during the Conca Champions. They we've got a really good Ask HTHL on comparing Chris Armas to Coach Lasso. We preview LAFC as Colorado look to get their first ever result at BMO Stadium. Kei Kamara is still there. Olivier Giroud is available. There could be no more fitting test for the Rapids than to finally go on the road to the black and gold and try and win. They've played six road games against LAFC and lost all of them. Total score 17-2. Perhaps this is the way that streak has to end? One final exorcism to make their first final since 2010? Also we do a Rapids history side quest.

Hello Rank Squad! We're into the festive spirit here at Ranks FC and we thought we'd do something a little bit different for a laugh today. Dean has been trawling the four corners of the internet to find some of the most interesting and potentially controversial takes that he could discover - that were still worthy of discussion. We talk about whether Evan Ferguson could truly reach levels similar to that of Erling Haaland; why some people consider Jurgen Klopp a better manager than Pep Guardiola; if footballers genuinely care less about their clubs than they did 20 years ago; whether the Champions League this season will be won once again by an underdog - and who might qualify for that tag; and if Jude Bellingham is on a course to have a better career than the likes of Kylian Mbappé; before ranking each of those takes in terms of how valid they could be. Before that, there's Things We Love, where Dean applauds the teams who have forced their way into title race conversations out of seemingly nowhere - Girona, Aston Villa, Bayer Leverkusen and OGC Nice; and Jack gets excited about a few disruptors a little further down their respective tables - Bologna in Serie A, and Athletic Club in La Liga. Finally, Dean gives us some Christmas Guru Wisdom, with his tips for the festive season; and youngest Ranks FC heir Dylan Jones sings us all out on a jolly festive tune. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
With Stan By Me in town, the omens had to be good. Could John and Alex get to the cursed Allianz Riviera stadium and actually see OGC Nice play, without a hitch? The fearless duo went forth, the wise Stan at their side and, for good measure, the youthful vigour of Young Trafford also present. And lo! They made it! They got to Nice v Toulouse before the game, had what passed for a hot dog and finally witnessed the beautiful Mefi the Eagle. With second-placed Ligue 1 outfit Nice having only scored 13 goals all season, the odds of a goal-fest were long. But no matter. This was a decent game, with some killer facts to savour and great performances by Dante and Thuram.
Host Robbie Thomson is joined by Jonathan Johnson, Baptiste Reynaud and Andreas Evagora to discuss PSG's 4-0 Classique win over Marseille, intriguing OGC Nice coach Francesco Farioli and the impending Derby du Nord between Lens and LOSC. Speaking of whom, Prof Evagora takes us back 2011, when a certain Belgian youngster with a dangerous last name drive Rudi Garcia's Dogues to a league and Cup double... the lads also look ahead to all the European action, with PSG, Lens, Marseille, Rennes and LOSc all in action across the continent this week. Of course there's also the dangerously addictive French football quiz Déjà Who, which this month gives you a chance to win a Terem Moffi OGC Nice jersey - all you have to do is answer the cryptic questions posed by our peripatetic football oracle Robbie!

The 2022-23 season is in its final stage, and Paris Saint-Germain has one hand on the Ligue 1 title, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of drama to discuss involving the capital club.On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the 3-1 win over RC Lens at the Parc des Princes. We also touch on the Christophe Galtier allegations, and debate the latest transfer rumors.Up first, we recap the win over Lens. The match was hotly contested initially, with Lens giving PSG all they could handle, then in the 19th minute, Lens midfielder Salis Abdul Samed received a straight red after a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi. Down to 10 men, the sting was taken out of the Lens attack, and PSG scored three goals in 9 minutes before halftime. We debate what we liked about the match, what we didn't, and share our overall thoughts on the victory.Next, we discuss PSG's manager, Christophe Galtier, who is embroiled in controversy dating back to his time at OGC Nice in 2021. The alleged contents of a leaked email indicate that Galtier made racist and insensitive remarks during a meeting in 2021. While we don't know if the contents of the email are accurate and Galtier has not only denied the allegations but taken legal action, we discuss how PSG should handle the situation and whether sacking Galtier is more difficult now.We wrap up the show by discussing transfer targets and whether PSG should go all in for superstar Victor Osimhen, or sign several players instead to fill in the holes in the squad. We also share what we'll be looking for during PSG's final seven matches and we highlight former manager, Thomas Tuchel, who is having a rough go of it at FC Bayern Munich. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts.
