Andrea Keith, a criminal defense attorney in California, helps Kate discuss the trial of Rebecca Grossman. Grossman, a wealthy California socialite and philanthropist, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the deaths of 11-year old Mark Iskander and his 8-year old brother Jacob in a Los Angeles crosswalk in 2020. She must pay more than $47,000 in restitution. The wife of renowned plastic surgeon Peter Grossman was found guilty earlier this year of second-degree murder in the death of the young brothers. The two were crossing the street in the west San Fernando Valley with their mother Nancy and 5-year-old brother Zachary when Grossman, driving her white Mercedes SUV at 81 miles per hour, struck the two brothers, killing them. Kate also discusses Murder on Middle Beach on HBO. In March of 2010, a 48-year-old woman was found murdered in the backyard of her Connecticut home. With her murder appearing personal, police wondered if someone in her inner circle could have been behind it. But as years passed and justice didn't come, her son took the investigation into his own hands. This is the murder of Barbara Beach-Hamburg. This is a story about eco-tourism and indigenous culture in two of Australia's most spectacular spots: Tanja Lagoon Camp on the Sapphire Coast, and Wajaana Yaam Adventure Tours, in Gumbaynggirr Country, near Coffs Harbour. Combine them into a coastal road trip and you may just have the perfect Aussie adventure ..."Everywhere we look, in our country here, in Gumbaynggirr Country, we have story, to every landscape, to every mountain, to every river, to everything that we see. To every island, there is knowledge about every place. And it's something that I feel really passionate about because I feel so connected to it through those 60,000 years of history. And I feel very privileged to be a member of our community, and a descendant of all of that knowledge and all of the history. And it's something that I feel really proud about, and I'd like to share that pride."- Clark Webb, Wajaana Yaam Gumbaynggirr Adventure Tours"The local beach, Middle Beach, is a very wild and beautiful piece of coastline, and we went there to watch the moon rise because there's a spot where we can potentially see the sunset and moonrise and it was a full moon we knew we were in for a treat. So we've gone out to the end of the beach and sat on the rocks. And I just remember seeing the moon rising up over the horizon. Just blissing out on, oh yeah, this is what it should be for kids growing up, really feeding on those beautiful places and beautiful moments in nature."- Loz Hunt, Tanja Lagoon CampTrailfinders are the no.1 tour operator to Australia. Christopher & Eric's True Crime Special Edition serves up a multi-episode true crime documentary series for you in one episode of our podcast. In this installment, we bring you the HBO series MURDER ON MIDDLE BEACH, a sprawling and frustrating tale of suburban privilege and addiction that at times pushes the boundaries of journalistic ethics. When Connecticut housewife and mother Barbara Hamburg is brutally murdered in 2010, police fail to arrest the prime suspect. In the years since, her son employs his dubious and ineffective investigating skills to cast suspicion on an ever-growing list of possible killers, many from his own family.
"Ostatnio robię tak, że wchodzę na serwis streamingowy i z listy wybranych wcześniej seriali na chybił-trafił klikam ten, który mam obejrzeć. Niestety, na Amazonie trafiłem bardzo źle." - mówi Bartosz Węglarczyk. "I Know What You Did Last Summer", bo o tym serialu mowa, to remake serii filmów pt. "Koszmar minionego lata." Seriale i filmy, o których rozmawiamy: (2:10) - "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (Amazon Prime) (5:40) - "Tidelands" (NETFLIX) (10:00) - "The Line" (Apple TV+) (15:50) - "Finch" (Apple TV+) (17.05) - "Murder on Middle Beach" (20:00) - "Dr. Death" (Canal+) (26:50) - "Crown Vic" (Amazon Prime) (30:45) - "Dom Gucci" (32:05) - "Tick, Tick... Boom" (NETFLIX) (36:00) - "Spider-Man: Bez drogi do domu" (40:30) - "Yara" (NETFLIX) (41:55) - "The Trip" (NETFLIX) (47:20) - "Pam & Tommy" (49:10) - "Mentalista" (Amazon Prime)
Managed retreat is on the table for Dunedin's iconic southern coastline, which is being eroded by climate-related sea level rise. Dunedin City Council's recently released Whakahekerau-Rakiatea Rautaki Tai/St Clair-St Kilda Coastal Plan reviews four coastal management options, including coastal setback to shore-up the coast between these beaches. The plan also pays special attention to an old landfill site at Middle Beach, whose contents are at risk of being expose by the sea. Among the aims here are improving beach access, to plan for planting and sand stockpiling and to continue modelling for longer term solutions. The plan is out now for public consultation until December 17th. Kathryn is joined by Dunedin City Mayor Aaron Hawkins and City Council Coastal Specialist Tom Simons-Smith.
