After that epiphany, he was determined to take action. He obtained a home line of credit (HELOC) on my one-bedroom condo in Boston and bought 10 deals over the course of 3 years; he purchased four 3 families, one 5 unit, two 6 units, and joined 2 apartment building syndications as a limited partner, one in Lowell MA and the other in Phoenix AZ. He also syndicated a 65 unit portfolio in New Bedford MA as a GP. Currently, he self manages 24 rental units and owns 95 units. The clean energy transition means jobs, especially here in Massachusetts. Vineyard Wind is preparing to start construction of a wind farm off the coast. These will be ‘green jobs' and so it is interesting to find out more specifics. In mid- January, Vineyard Wind held a job fair in New Bedford MA to find workers for the task. He was a three-year starter and two-time team captain at Bishop Stang High School before going on to play at Framingham State where he was third in the nation in assists for DIII during the 1981-82 season and was the Defensive Player of the Year. He officiated basketball for 20+ years and ran the Monte Park Shootout for over 30 years which leads to some incredible stories! Conceicao wrote several great articles including “A Day with Dr. J” that we get to hear about as well. Michael is truly a basketball historian and we can’t thank him enough for his time. It was a pleasure learning more about him and the love for hoops that New Bedford has. He also shared some great stories about Julius Erving, Nate Archibald, Joe Bryant, David Leitao, Larry Bird, Reggie Lewis, Chris Herren and MUCH more. We learned so much about the game from an officiating standpoint due to his experience as an official and these are simply hoop stories that you won’t hear anywhere else.
