The Toronto Blue Jays have made changes to the roster; it's apparent the club's philosophy also has changed in its pursuit of more offence. Griff and Scotty Mac wonder: is the new philosophy sustainable? The Blue Jays are dealing with another worrying injury in the bullpen. And the 30th anniversary of the OJ Simpson Bronco chase brings up where-were-we-then memories.
Filmmaker, producer, writer, and podcast guest extraordinaire Jared Bailey joins to discuss one of the iconic texts of 90s popular cinema, 'Forrest Gump' directed by Robert Zemeckis and winner of the 1994 Academy Award for Best Picture (among many others). For all its swings at grandeur, the film is a deceptively simple one in premise: An ordinary man reflects on his life, regaling passersby with his stories about coming of age in America from the 1950's onward and detailing the instances in which he became a passive observer of - or coincidental participant in - many of the generation's noteworthy events. One of the greatest box office successes of the decade, the movie is also one that perfectly encapsulates the deeply cynical politics (or the posited apoliticism) of The End of History. We discuss the film's curious flattening of the historical record, papering over the thornier details of post-war America for an audience seeking to make sense of the decades of conflict that preceded the 90s and its erasure of the material context for monumental touchstones such as the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement. Then, we explore filmmaker Robert Zemeckis and his seemingly pathological need to embed bizarre racial elements into his most popular features, often commenting in ways that become more problematic than the surface-level prejudices of his contemporaries. Finally, we discuss the long-gestating (and ultimately cancelled) sequel to the film, which would have seen Forrest involved in even more historically resonant instances such as the OJ Simpson Bronco chase and the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The bonus show opens with the Allen Iverson statue controversy coming out of Philadelphia, after the Internet turned on the 76ers for unveiling a very small statue for Allen Iverson… but context matters, because every Philly legend has the same small statue outside the practice facility. Plus Kevin Durant talks about staying healthy this season by avoiding “floppers and crash dummies,” guys that Rob used to call “fake hustle” guys. We even dive into how much fun WrestleMania was this year, from guys that are NOT wrestling fans and really enjoyed it. And Rob weighs in on the Scottie Scheffler dilemma, as his wife was pregnant with their first child while he was leading the Masters, and he said he’d walk off the course if his wife went into labor… and Rob says he would leave any event, but Jenners contends that guys don’t have much to contribute during delivery. Plus, after the passing of OJ Simpson last week, Rob recounts what it was like playing in the NBA Finals the night of the OJ Simpson Bronco chase. And we close things out by talking about the 20 instances of guys scoring more than 50 in a game this season, and the final debate about who gets our MVP votes now that the regular season is over.
Alexi Lalas and David Mosse recap an epic week of soccer. To kick things off stateside, the USWNT won their 5th straight She Believes Cup, with Sophia Smith leading the way. On June 17, 1994 the country was glued to their television sets watching a white Bronco traveling as normal speed along California Highway I-91 followed by dozens of police cars. The "Bronco Chase" is familiar to the vast majority of people in America and throughout the world. Back in 1994, I was working with the Fox Television affiliate in Philadelphia as a medical reporter on the 10:00 pm newscast. Police discovered the Bronco with OJ Simpson at 6:45 west coast time. The Philadelphia 10:00 news (east coast time) began as the chase was just beginning and the newscast did not end until OJ had turned himself in. I found myself reporting live on the air as events unfolded. Recently I discovered that I had a copy of the newscast. There have been many stories about the chase using real as well as "creative" footage. I felt it was important to re create the way it happened, the evening it happened.
This Week Bridget Kelly and Mandii B are joined by comedians and host of Keepin' It Re; with Young Wayne Podcast, Lil' Rel and Young Wayne. The food for thought segment (1:02:00) this week is brought to you by Affion Crockett from our interview with him in LA. We loved him so much he came out to New York and we recorded a full length episode dropping soon! Yesterday was the 27th anniversary of the famous OJ Simpson Bronco chase and we have some bad news from around the world involving Chuck Schumer's recent use of the "R" word during an interview, an outdated law that allowed Hawaii employers to pay people with disabilities less than minimum wage, and recent controversy over Hunter Biden calling Asians "yellow." We also discuss the public's reaction to Batman going down on Cat Woman and take a look at some embarrassing TYT footage of Cenk Uyger where he repeatedly uses the "N" word. Awful lots of "words" in this week's installment of Brass Tacks Podcast!
The OJ Simpson Bronco chase and subsequent trial forever changed the face of television programming-especially the daytime soap which suffered the most.
Welcome to the 104th episode of the DeanBlundell.com Podcast with Daren Millard. On today's episode the boys talk about how to count in the podcast, the Kawhi Leonard circus that went down yesterday, Kawhi's demeanor during this process and the coverage by CP24 regarding Kawhi's landing and car drive to his meeting. Gives us some serious OJ Simpson Bronco chase vibes. Daren questions how the helicopter was allowed to troll the airspace during the stakeout. Dean thinks it was all set up by Bell. Dean makes fun of a story that was written about seeing Kawhi at the Hazelton Hotel in Yorkville. Dean also takes some time to read some mean tweets. Daren goes over the luxury rooms in the Hazelton and Dean tells us about a weird party he went there one time. Where they had to wear masks. Cool stuff. Leaf Nation, Daren breaks down the Leafs current situation, the Leafs D core, and why you won't be seeing a Marner deal anytime soon. We close with some Swiss Chalet talk, they have fried chicken now. Mind. Blown. Enjoy! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
As Raptors fans await Kawhi Leonard's decision, Toronto media made his visit to the city play out like the OJ Simpson Bronco chase. We talk in depth about the craziness surrounding the NBA Finals MVP

After my dad and Robert Shapiro dealt with some timeline issues in OJ's case, and the limo driver placed him at the airport at a different time, the OJ Simpson case played out on national television. Here's how OJ's Bronco chase and the addition of Johnny Cochran to the defense changed the course of the case forever. This is what you didn't know about the OJ Simpson Murders Part II
Greg is glad he watched The Ten Commandments. Keith proves Mystery Diners is fake. And The Duo start to remember the OJ Simpson Bronco chase, and other things.
Download the MP3 file here. It's summer time and we've been busy enjoying the sun. We are planning on getting more shows done soon. Here's a show we recorded in June. The guys start out the show talking about Rodney King dying and segue right into the OJ Simpson Bronco chase. They then get into the impending zombie apocalypse and talk about Sasquatch and aliens. They then discuss which "myths" are real versus the obvious fake ones. They then talk about movies for quite a bit. First movies that scare them. They then focus on Tom Cruise for a bit and discuss his career and movies which leads right into talk about the Rocky and Rambo movies. Staying on entertainment, they then talk about the Muppet Movie and show. After a shot and they get right back into talking about a strip club adventure in Las Vegas. They then get on a tangent about bicyclists and how society has seemed to give them preferential treatment for no reason. They then talk about music and going to concerts. They then talk about sports and the concussion debate that surrounds much of them. They then talk about women and how many of them are such a slob today. Email us here: drunkenlogicpodcast@gmail.comWe hope you enjoy the show!
