In this episode of The Venture Capital Podcast, Jon Bradshaw and Peter Harris sit down with Costas Papaikonomou, co-founder of the $200M Una Terra Early Growth Fund, to unpack what it really takes to scale the circular economy.Costas shares how his background in engineering, innovation consulting, and a successful exit to Accenture shaped Una Terra's thesis: backing “drop-in” solutions that plug into existing industrial infrastructure instead of trying to rebuild the world from scratch. They get into: • Why packaging, waste and food ingredients are massive, underrated VC markets • How regulation in Europe is reshaping single-use plastics and recycling • Why Una Terra focuses on real-world unit economics first, impact second (but still runs as an Article 9 impact fund) • Case studies: pulp-based bottle packaging, Greyparrot's AI for waste sorting, and circular fashion brand Another Tomorrow • Power law vs “normal distribution” returns, and why most exits will be strategic acquisitions, not unicorn IPOsIf you care about climate, industrial innovation, and non-SaaS venture opportunities, this one's loaded.Follow the Unaterra HQ: www.Unaterra.vc Linkedin: www.linkedin.com/company/una-terra-vs Costas Book (Disruption Fallacy): www.re8el.com Follow the PodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/venturecapitalfm/Twitter: https://twitter.com/vcpodcastfmLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/venturecapitalfm/Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7BQimY8NJ6cr617lqtRr7N?si=ftylo2qHQiCgmT9dfloD_g&nd=1&dlsi=7b868f1b72094351Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/venture-capital/id1575351789Website: https://www.venturecapital.fm/Follow Jon BradshawLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mrbradshaw/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrjonbradshaw/Twitter: https://twitter.com/mrjonbradshawFollow Peter HarrisLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peterharris1Twitter: https://twitter.com/thevcstudentInstagram: https://instagram.com/shodanpeteYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@peterharris2812

Dr. Costas Karatzas, CEO, Director, and Co-Founder of Acesis BioMed, is focused on developing a novel treatment for low testosterone in men, an oral peptide that stimulates the body to restore its own natural testosterone production. The therapy's mechanism differs from current testosterone replacement therapies and avoids the side effect of infertility seen in younger men using traditional TRT, which shuts down natural hormone and sperm production. This low T condition is not just a function of aging but is increasingly affecting younger men due to lifestyle, environmental factors, and co-morbidities like diabetes and obesity. Costas explains, "Our mission is to revolutionize the treatment of low T, or male hypogonadism, and related comorbidities. Although we remain laser-focused on going in phase one with a low T application, because low testosterone is involved in many other diseases like type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, obesity, etc., we're also going to be co-developing those with partnerships initially with academia and later on with other pharma companies. So this is, in a nutshell, the short story about Acesis. The differentiation being everything else marketed provides the body with exogenous testosterone, whereas in our case, we teach the body to go back to its old memory and generate or restore its own testosterone in a natural way." "Men can develop low testosterone because of the aging process, but this is a wrong idea. Low testosterone is not just an aging problem. It's true that we as men lose testosterone from the age of 30, about 1-1.5%, which is circulating in our blood. By the time we reach sixties or seventies, we could have probably 50% to 60% of the testosterone levels we had while we were at the age of 30 years old. Globally, it's estimated that about 40% of adult men may have suboptimal testosterone levels, especially if you include men with other health issues like diabetes, and we mentioned obesity. So, for older men, this is a big demographic, and as the global male population ages, the number of men with low T is increasing. Interestingly enough, the FDA has only approved the current marketed products of testosterone for men who are between the ages of 30 and 65. Anything over 65 is considered a normal process of aging according to the regulators." #AcesisBioMed #HormoneHealth #TestosteroneReplacementTherapy #TRT #MensHealthAwareness #BiotechInnovation #EndocrinologyResearch #LowT #MensHealth #Testosterone #HormoneResearch #Menswellbeing #Andropause acesisbio.com Download the transcript here

Bob Costas is more than a sports broadcaster—he's a storyteller and trailblazer who shaped how Americans experience sports. Having been voice of the Olympics, the World Series, and countless other events, he defined how we remember these moments --blending history, storytelling, and context, making sports feel bigger than the score. In this episode, Costas joins Strategerist host Andrew Kaufmann and Kevin “Sully” Sullivan, senior advisor at the Bush Center, to discuss what went on behind the scenes of those broadcast moments. He reflects on the art of the introduction and explains why sports continue to bring us together.
This segment is a high-energy dive into the Jaxson Dart debut for the Giants, with Sal and BT debating whether the team's abysmal foundation—poor offensive line, lame-duck coach Brian Daboll, and constant negativity—is setting the rookie up for failure, mirroring the struggles of past quarterbacks. They ridicule Giants fans for flying "clean house" banners over MetLife, arguing it's the wrong time for negativity. On the baseball side, they analyze the Mets' slim playoff hopes against the Marlins, with Sal remaining skeptical due to the lack of pitching, while BT is more optimistic. The Yankees, conversely, are lauded for their strong play, with BT and Costas agreeing they have a "championship look" and are poised to win the AL East. The segment wraps with a lighthearted but fiery call-out of David Cone for confusing Rocky III and Rocky IV and Nick Costos providing his best NFL Week 4 bets and a Perfect Parlay rundown.
Episode 546 of the Sports Media Podcast features Rich Podolsky, the author of “Madden & Summerall How They Revolutionized NFL Broadcasting.” In this podcast, Podolsky discussed the process of writing a book about John Madden and Pat Summerall; the beginning of Madden's broadcasting career and how he was mediocre at first on air; Madden working with Bob Costas when Costas was just 27; Madden getting the biggest break of his fledgling broadcasting career when he was paired with Summerall; how Vin Scully nearly became Madden's permanent partner; how Summerall's broadcasting career began; what the NFL Today was like in 1975, and more.
