Martin Dobson (born 14 February 1948) is a former professional footballer and England international who played as a midfielder. He was the first player to be transferred for £300,000, when Everton bought him from Burnley in August 1974. Playing career He was born in Rishton and attended Clitheroe Royal Grammar School. He was signed as youngster by Bolton Wanderers who spotted him playing for Lancashire Grammar Schools. However he was given a free transfer and moved on to Burnley.[2] He had a long and successful playing career, playing for almost 20 years and totalling over 600 league appearances while playing for Burnley, Everton and Bury. He won five England caps overall, four while at Burnley and one while at Everton. His first England cap was awarded to him by manager Sir Alf Ramsey (because of FA Cup commitments of other players) on 3 April 1974, a 0–0 draw against Portugal. However, he impressed enough to win four more caps that year. Managerial career As well as finishing his playing career with Bury, Dobson became their manager until 1989. During this period they were promoted from the old Fourth Division and became an established Third Division side.[3] Dobson was appointed manager of Bristol Rovers in July 1991, but was sacked after only 12 games in charge in October of the same year.[4] On 10 January 2010 he was appointed joint caretaker manager of Premier League side and former club Burnley, with Terry Pashley, after Owen Coyle left the club for Bolton Wanderers. However, Dobson and Pashley never managed a game due to the rapid appointment of Brian Laws. Laws kept Dobson on his coaching staff in the short-term as he built up his backroom staff. Dobson then returned full-time to his role as Burnley's director of youth development.[5] Dobson left his post as director of youth at Burnley in October 2011 after his contract was not renewed by manager Eddie Howe who instead appointed his reserve team manager Jason Blake, from former club AFC Bournemouth, as academy manager. Dobson became the professional development co-ordinator at Everton in February 2018.

Scott Parker agrees that Bournemouth seem a perfect fit for him, but he's cautious about getting carried away, as he sits down and explains his thinking to Mark Clemmit. His table topping Bournemouth side will have tough tests throughout the season, he has no doubts, but for now they're flying high and he's enjoying his time on the south coast. Further afield but equally close to the beach, Owen Coyle is live from Goa, as he's based over there as the boss of Jamshedspur FC in the Indian Super League. He may be nearly 5000 miles away, but his knowledge of the daily goings on at every level within the EFL is encyclopaedic, as he proves once again with Clem, as the two dissect all the latest news this week!
He spent 12 years at Vicarage Road, which is enough to cement and secure a very special place in Troy Deeney's heart, but when his boyhood club came knocking, at the age of 33 he couldn't possibly turn them down. Arguably the biggest story of the recent EFL transfer window, Mark Clemmit catches up with his old mate, to find out what it feels like to be finally coming home! And when it comes to unparalleled knowledge of players, management, stats and stories from one end of the pyramid to the other, there are few finer than Owen Coyle! Always entertaining and informative in fairly equal measure, it's a pleasure to hear Owen and Clem look forward to what's in store for the next few weeks!

Football without everyone is nothing #6 Owen Coyle Junior (England Amputee Football Association) I'm sure I'm not alone when I say the proposed Super League was met by little more than a shrug in my house. In all honesty I was happy that the cat was finally out of the bag. Take your ball, and sod off I thought. My allegiances with football have always been less about the sport, and more about everything good that comes with it. The friendship, the camaraderie, the sense of unconditional inclusion. Now, it would of course be disingenuous of me to suggest that I, as a white, heterosexual man in my mid 20's has ever had to truly deal with exclusion in any real world sense. It would also be naive of me to suggest that football has always been a place where everyone feels welcome. Far from it. But I firmly believe that football, more so than anywhere else, has the power to enact social movements that encourage better inclusion for all. With that in mind, I introduce to you, to the ‘Football without everyone is nothing' series. Every day this week I will be speaking to different individuals, and organisations, all of whom have used football as a vehicle to improve social inclusion. As we well know, social inclusion is a key component of improving our collective mental health, so that will be a crucial part of our focus as well. Today, in episode five we'll be speaking with Owen Coyle Junior. Owen is a coach at the England Amputee Football Association (EAFA). The EAFA is a registered charity supporting amputees, the congenitally deficient, and those with limb affecting disabilities engage in football from grassroots to international.
