Season 4 Episode 53 with former ODU Head Baseball Coach Pat McMahon
In this episode, Alan and Alex are joined on the show by long time pinball artist Greg Freres, and they discuss Greg's time working in the late 1970s and early 1980s art department at Bally, a truly remarkable time period for pinball art.Greg tells us all about the different processes that revolutionized the industry, working under art director Paul Faris, and the fraternity bond that he shared with Paul, Kevin O'Connor, Margaret Hudsen, Dave Christensen, Tony Ramunni, and Pat McMahon.Greg tells us some great stories from the absolute peak of Bally pinball, and how this rogue's gallery of young artists came in and completely changed the game with their bold and risque illustrative style. Here's a bonus link to Greg's seminar from the Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show that we mention in this episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChCqJVvGlL8
Community makes McMahon's Best-One stand out from the competition. The company was founded in 1969 by Pat McMahon, who bought out a local independent tire dealer in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, with the help of Paul Zurcher.Pat built a strong foundation for the business, and today, his son, Bubba, who grew up in the tire industry, now owns it with Randy Geyer, a longtime employee. Bubba's wife, Kim, is now president of McMahon's Best-One, and together they are pushing the limits on what it means to be an independent tire dealer. With 13 locations and counting, McMahon has close-knit ties to the communities it serves and is elevating the professionalism in our industry to thrive in the future.
A retiring Newmarket-on-Fergus councillor believes lessons his father instilled in him served him well throughout his lengthy political career. Councillor Pat McMahon, aged 78, has announced that he won't run in the upcoming local elections, after having held his seat on the council for 48 years. The Fianna Fáil representative, who served as Mayor of Clare twice and Cathaoirleach of Shannon Municipal District once, set out on his journey in politics in the 1970s, after his father Andy, who himself was a councillor for thirty years, passed away suddenly. Councillor McMahon says the attention his father showed to people in need inspired him to serve his constituents to the best of his ability.
Uisce Eireann has been given the green light to carry out major upgrade works at the Newmarket-On-Fergus Wastewater Treatment Plant. The development will involve a new pumping station which will aim to prevent the discharge of effluent into Lough Gash. Previously an application to construct 51 homes in the village was refused due to inadequate sewerage infrastructure. Newmarket-On-Fergus Fianna Fáil Councillor, Pat McMahon believes the community can finally build a future.
A Shannon-based councillor says he is in favour of the government joining an EU or NATO-led mission to protect undersea cables. It follows comments from the Taoiseach that he will give strong consideration to joining any such venture in light of reports of Russian mapping of the seabed off the Irish coast. Ireland is a member of PESCO or Permanent Structured Cooperation which aims to deepen security and defence cooperation between EU members. Fianna Fáil's Pat McMahon believes Ireland is unable to protect its undersea cables by itself.
Today is the second episode on our two-part series looking at Black representation on the Phoenix City Council. Morrison F. Warren was the first Black man to ever sit on the Phoenix City Council. But he wasn't a politician. Rather Warren spent his life building bridges through education and advocating for equality. He grew up at a time when Phoenix was segregated. It was something that struck him deeply. He graduated valedictorian of his high school and attended Phoenix College before serving in the Army during World War II. He survived and came back to Phoenix to earn his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University, then called Arizona State College. He was a star player on the football team there and even had a short stint in the NFL. Later, Warren moved on to get his master's and PhD, all in education from ASU. In this episode, we hear from his son, Kevin Warren, and from Morrison Warren himself from an archived interview. The audio of Morrison Warren is provided by the Arizona Historical Society. You can watch the interview with him here. The video was directed and written by Chris Wooley. The director of photography was Wayne Dickmann. The video was produced by the Historical League, and narrated by Pat McMahon. It was made possible by a financial grant from Dr. Edward B. Diethrich. Learn more about your ad choices. Mike Matarazzo isn't just a big body ... he's a student of the game and one of the young dynamic players in the MLR. Clocking in at 6'5", 250lbs, he's a tower in the lineout and has the hands to move the ball under pressure. We caught up with Mike back in fall of 2021 when he attending the U-23 Eagle Pathway Camp. At the time, Mike had just signed with Dallas and was selected to travel down to Uruguay with the Falcons. Since then, he's played a ton of MLR minutes, and was most recently selected for Team of the Week as he continues to get selected for the Chicago Hounds (both in the 2nd row and the loose). Mike has a huge rugby future ahead of him! Top 3 (Players Mike has shared the jersey with) - Evan Slattery - Flanker, Ginger, Super Fiery Rugby Player. Always made the big tackle. Pat McMahon - "Hell of a guy to play with" - M.M. Johan Momsen - Professor of lineouts, ATL leader. Special Thanks to Mike for rolling with the punches (waiting ~2 years since the recording!) Enjoy!
You would be hard-pressed to find someone in Arizona who couldn't share a vivid memory of Pat McMahon – either as a talk show host interviewing the likes of Muhammad Ali and Barack Obama to Mother Teresa and Mick Jagger, or maybe as the host of his internet program “The God Show.” They might have attended an event he was emceeing, where he has helped worthy organizations raise millions of dollars. Chances are though, they know him from his 30 years on the longest-running live children's show, “Wallace and Ladmo,” where he played Gerald and a host of other memorable characters. Pat was literally born into the entertainment business to parents who were lifelong Vaudevillians. He went on the road with them at 5, and he's been touching lives ever since, bringing joy through entertainment, raising funds, causing people to think about the things that matter, and making the world a better place with his gracious heart and sharp wit. An East Clare Councillor predicts more than 100 homes could have been prevented from being built in Newmarket-on-Fergus due to delays in upgrading waste-water infrastructure in the town. Permission to construct a 51 unit housing development in Ballynacragga, Newmarket-on-Fergus, was previously refused due to inadequate sewerage infrastructure. Irish Water has yet to submit a planning application to complete the necessary upgrade works at the treatment plant. Newmarket On-Fergus based Fianna Fáil Councillor, Pat McMahon, says the impact it's had on locals who want to build in the town can'tbe allowed to continue.

Pat has had the opportunity over the years to interview some amazing people, from JFK to Mohammed Ali to Mother Teresa. In this episode of “Spirituality for Everyday Living” he shares some real gems that will delight you and others that may shock you. JFK was very handsome, witty and clever and in fact shares some similarities to Donald Trump…wealth, womanizing and narcissism. Texas Gov. John Connally was with JFK when he was assassinated in Dallas and told Pat there was definitely a second shooter on the Grassy Knoll but denied he ever said that 5 years later. If you're intrigued, you don't want to miss the rest of the conversation, which includes Sen. Barry Goldwater and UFO's! www.melindavail.com

Pat McMahon and I have made something special for you.During the lockdown we made this 6-part series discussing and summarising the book 'The Science of Getting Rich' written by the New Thought Movement writer Wallace D. Wattles, all the while examining how the books teachings can be applicable to chiropractic and how we practice. This summary of a classic book is made BY chiropractors FOR chiropractors. It's a great dynamic because you have myself reading it fresh for the first time and asking questions as the young chiropractor contrasted with Pat who has read the book 100 times and applied its teachings to his success in practice, building Syntropy and being a strong force within our community. Each episode is 30-45 minutes long, Pat gives a tonne of value guiding me through the book and also throwing in plenty of advice for life and practice. These episodes will help chiropractors navigate through this book for many years to come. I am very excited to see what you all think of it. Love to you all. Z
