You don't put Christian Nielsen, Michael DiGiovanni, Carlin Trammel, Shawn Robare, William Bruce West, Rob Graham, Michael May, Jeeg, and Paxton Holley in a room together and not record a podcast. While at C2E2, the group (minus Jeff Somogyi who sadly was not feeling well that evening) gathered in Christian and DiGio's hotel room to revive the classic Atomic Geeks topic: "Robot, Monkey, Michael Caine." Each person suggests a movie, TV show, event, etc. and discuss what would best improve it: a monkey, a robot, or... well, you'll see.
In 2015, the Nerd Lunch crew met up with most of the Atomic Geeks and assorted members of the Fourth Chair Army at C2E2 in Chicago. Ten years later, it's time to get together again with even more friends. The group this time included Carlin Trammel, William Bruce West, Jeeg, Paxton Holley, Jeff Somogyi, Shawn Robare, Michael May, Rob Graham, Christian Nielsen, and Michael DiGiovanni. In this audio diary, we learn about how the trip came together, check in with the attendees at various points of the weekend, and tease a very special podcast episode that we recorded there and will be Coming Soon.
Michael stretches the definitions of both "Western" and "Horror" when he makes Pax and guest Shawn Robare watch House II: The Second Story. Though it does have undead cowboys. The movie is the sequel to 1985's House and stars Arye Gross, Jonathan Stark, Royal Dano, John Ratzenberger, Bill Maher, and Lar Park-Lincoln.
It's October! Check out the first of Hellbent's Halloween episodes where Mike and Pax are joined by Shawn Robare to discuss Knife for the Ladies from 1974 starring Jack Elam!
What's up, dudes? Merry Dinosaur Day! Shawn Robare from Cult Film Club, Crestwood House, and Plastic Rocket Pop and I talk the 1987 cartoon “Dinosaucers!” It's good dinos versus evil tyrannos as two dinosaur alien factions fight for freedom! It's Dinosaur Day on Reptilon, and the Dinosaucers are set to return to their home planet for the celebration. The Tyrannos decide to spoil it for Bonehead by telling him Stego-Claws isn't real. Consequently, the dejected dino refuses to go back home for the holiday. Luckily. He's visited by the actual Stego-Claws who takes him and David on a trip to deliver presents on Reptilon in his sledosaucer pulled by Rude Ralph the red-nosed rhamphorhynchus. The Tyrannos ambush the trio at Stego-Claws's workshop. Using furball elves and Bonehead's devolved pachycephalosaur self, the trio escapes and delivers presents to good dinosaucers. At another house, they again encounter the Tyrannos, and again, with Stego-Claws's magic, they defeat them. Bonehead and David return to Earth, and, with renewed belief, Bonehead joins his friends for Dinosaur Day.Stego-Claws? Check. Rude Ralph? Yep. Saucertoe? Well, they don't have missiles on Reptilon! What's up, dudes? It's a St. Patrick's Day Christmas when Shawn Robare from Cult Film Club, Crestwood House, and Plastic Rocket Pop and I talk the 1981 Rankin Bass special “The Leprechaun's Christmas Gold!” Written by Romeo Muller, it was originally conceived as a St. Patrick's Day special, but was retooled and released in December instead. Oh, and the word Christmas is just thrown into random sentences. One hundred years ago, two leprechaun clans existed. Their gold, unfortunately, attracted the banshee Old Mag the Hag, who used her shapeshifting abilities to cause a rift between the clans. Blarney Kilakilarney, leader of the gold-mining faction, asks Patrick, Lord of the Leprechauns for help. Subsequently, he tricks Mag into turning to tears, and Blarney plants a pine cone atop her puddle. The pine cone, taken from a tree planted by St. Patrick himself, grows into a beautiful tree. Meanwhile, present day sailor Dinty Doyle chops down the tree to use for Christmas. The oblivious boy accidentally releases the banshee, who immediately resumes her quest for gold. Consequently, Blarney gives the gold to Dinty, who is almost instantly tricked by the banshee into giving it to her. Luckily, she doesn't reach it by Christmas morning and turns to tears! Weird, right?!Powerful leprechaun wizard lord? Check. Weather controlling shape shifting banshee? Got it. Brightly colored clogs made by the O'Clogjiggers? Yes, but only if they can be distributed amongst the Irish people! So grab your gold, dig up your Christmas tree, and sail into this episode on “The Leprechaun's Christmas Gold!”Cult Film ClubFB: @CultFilmClub Twitter: @CFCPod IG: @cultfilmclub Check us out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Totally Rad Christmas Mall & Arcade, Teepublic.com, or TotallyRadChristmas.com! What's up, dudes? Everybody look around, hear the sound. Something special's gonna come your way when Shawn Robare from Cult Film Club, Crestwood House, and Plastic Rocket Pop and Sean Sotka from the Christmas Podcasts Podcast join me to talk “Kids, Incorporated!” They even had a New Year's Eve special where they rock in the New Year!In this Dec 31st clip show, Kids, Incorporated are rehearsing in the garage when Riley breaks the bad news. Apparently, his latest invention exploded and covered The P*lace in ice cream! Everything is ruined, and the New Year's Eve party must be canceled! Despondent, the kids reprimand him and begin to sulk when Stacy finds their old New Year's resolutions. As they comb through each others' resolutions, they reminisce about particular instances: Ryan trying to fit in, Renee attempting to be a better sister, Gloria getting her tonsils removed, the Kid stealing Gloria's fame, and Stacy helping a has-been trombone player. The kids realize that their friendship has gotten them through hard times, and apologize to Riley. Luckily, as the plot demanded, Riley found a substitute venue and the party is back on! Oh, and lots of singing ensues!Clip show flashbacks? Check. Perfectly convenient plot contrivances? Got ‘em. Killer tunes sung while wearing sequins tuxedos? Definitely! What's up, dudes? Shawn Robare from Cult Film Club, Crestwood House, and Plastic Rocket Pop and Chad Young from Horror Movie BBQ are with me to discuss “Kidd Video!” That's right! We're talking the long lost “Kidd Video Christmas Special!” It's ‘80s cartoon awesomeness re-edited in ‘91 to fill a one hour time slot on WGN. The special consists of 2 episodes of the show, ‘Double Trouble' and ‘Master Blaster Brat.' All the licensed Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, etc., music was removed and replaced with generic Christmas songs. In ‘Double Trouble,' while exploring the tunnels of South Plumbington, the band goes down a drain and is attacked by a giant plunger. They find a message in a bottle and decide to rescue the sender. When they go to free him, they find out that they have rescued Laster Blaster, Master Blaster's identical twin brother. Master Blaster had imprisoned him so that he could take his place as treasurer of South Plumbington and get the town treasure. Master Blaster just needs to find the key to the vault. Once he does, Whiz forges a duplicate key, and Glitter switches them. Laster approaches the town to win his rightful place back as treasurer. Master and Laster's mother shows up to determine who is who, and picks Master Blaster as her favorite rotten son. Master Blaster still steals the treasure, only to find out the treasure is shower heads! The Copy Cats accidentally turn Master Blaster into a toddler. They wicked youths immediately transform nearly the entire town, including Whiz and Carla. While Glitter babysits, Kidd and Ash seek out the sorceress Xenia who possesses a magic aging ray. Eventually the duo overcome her fearsome creatures. After Ash does a Stomp-inspired performance, Kidd and Xenia have a sock hop and they duo takes her magic ray. Soon the townspeople are returned to normal.Evil twins? Check. Dancing sorceress? Got it. Christmas songs edited over the band's hit videos? Whoa, yeah! Shawn Robare returns to help Michael and Pax discuss the David O. Selznick mess, Duel in the Sun, featuring a legendary cast, but also six directors, a terrible script, and a central relationship that no one (including the movie) cares about. Happily, that makes for a great conversation anyway.

Remember Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics where various Hanna Barbera characters crossed over to compete against each other in Olympics-style events? EP78 | Sequelto RAD How RAD are you? In 1986 Hal Needham, the director of Smokey and The Bandit was tasked by Talia Shire from the Rocky films to direct a “sportsploitation” film in the style of The Karate Kid, but with BMX racing. Who knew that by including scenes of Bike Dancing, Ass Sliding and the wicked BMX danger of Helltrack he would create an 80’s cult classic like RAD? More than 30 years later, this wild 80’s movie starring Bill Allen and Lori Laughlin is still not commercially available, but that won’t stop Adam and a duo of guest hosts from the Cult Film Club podcast from pitching their epic sequel ideas for RAD 2 in this podcast adventure. Paxton Holley from the NerdLunch podcast and I Read Movies delivers not 1, but 2 RAD sequels in order to create a trilogy that completes the journey of earnest BMX biker, Cru Jones. While RAD mega-fan, Shawn Robare from Branded In The 80’s imagines an Infinity War style crossover film featuring characters featured in Thrashin’, North Shore, Gleaming The Cube and Airborne coming together to get EXTREME! Meanwhile Adam combines the disciplines of BMX and Kung Fu for an unforgettable RAD 2 scenario that kicks the fun into high gear. Listen now and get ready to walk this sucker! EP57- 30 years ago a group of monster loving kids teamed up to kick evil in the nards and save the world from the unholy alliance of Dracula, Gill-Man, Mummy and The Wolfman. Unfortunately few people saw this wacky 80's adventure upon it's release, but the cult of The Monster Squad has grown in the last decade, making it a staple of Midnight Screenings and Halloween playlists. To create a truly monstrous sequel Adam and Jeramy recruited Monster Squad super fan, Shawn Robare from the Cult Film Club podcast and brandedinthe80s.com who came equipped with endless trivia about the film and the current 30th anniversary celebration. The crew then discuss some fantastic ideas for continuing the heroic exploits of Sean, Rudy, Horace, Eugene, Patrick and Phoebe for modern moviegoers. Shawn Robare of Branded in the 80s and the Cult Film Club podcast joins me to discuss a topic inspired by Shawn's own Awesome 80s Bedrooms series, the inner sanctum of our childhood bedrooms. For some kids, the bedroom is the one place in the house that we have any control over. Shawn and I reminisce about the different bedrooms we occupied in our formative years and the fun or sometimes scary things they contained. Despite it being the envy of every 80s kid, Shawn concedes that the G.I. Joe U.S.S. Flagg battleship is the worst toy ever made. These cartoon plaques hand painted by my dad are among my most prized childhood relics. Home is where you hang your AT-ST? One of my favorite rooms housed my Mattel Putt-Putt set, my Mego Superheroes, and a terrifying pin-up of Gene Simmons of KISS. This image of Stephen Spielberg from a People magazine article on Tiny Toon Adventures prompted Shawn to turn his room into a cartoon studio. Hear a report about the escapades of the crew during the visit in Atlanta and then follow that up by listening to them talk about what they are looking forward to seeing, smelling and doing this summer!

Break out the Doritos and Mountain Dew, the Nerd Lunch Podcast had reached triple digits! It's episode 100 and to celebrate, CT, Jeeg and Pax welcome the two other members of the Nerd Lunch Family. Joining as guests are Nerd Lunch blog co-founder PLee and Nerd Lunch: The Web Series co-host Savannah Staverosky. However, the show honors many of our past guests by including a look back at several Fourth Chair Carryover Questions from the past year. Find out who never watched Saturday Morning cartoons, who doesn't like Seth Rogen, who (sort of) ran a 5K to save the Clock Tower, who watched the royal wedding and who likes Foofur a bit too much. Also...who is 'Saint Cosplay'? All that and more! With this episode, we end "season 2" of the show and we'll be taking a slight break before returning with episode 101. Look for bonus content in the meantime and we'll be back with new, full episodes soon. Special thanks to everyone listed below for awesome questions that we had fun revisiting on this episode: Rondal Scott Brian Adams Christian Nielsen Michael DiGiovanni Jen Usellis Mackay Thom Holbrook Jon Cross Robert Zerbe Shawn Robare Matt Ringler Doug Frye Kirk Howle Des Taylor Michael May Tim Lybarger Jasmin Fine Andrew Bloom The Retroist Vic Sage Aaron Nix Kristin Rielly William Bruce West Steve from Food Junk Matt Young Claymation Werewolf Howie Decker Ryan Hewson Jay from Sexy Armpit
