Podpals, here's a fun movie review episode for the Eraserheads documentary Wincy watched a week ago. (And yes, The Eraserheads, aside from BINI, is Cj's favorite Pinoy musical acts!) We roped in Carljoe Javier to discuss the finer points of the film and what makes the Eraserheads music endure through different generations. Expect a lot of laughs and stray observations, listeners. Fans and non-fans alike will surely have a blast. Also, Cj, through an AI voice cloner, reads your Podpal Answering Machine messages. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Podpals. Thanks for following the good ship Graventown into the night. After a short hiatus, we are back in the saddle with episode 51 (can ya believe it?!) featuring the fierce fiery phenon music maker Jenn Grant. Jenn Grant's music is deeply empathetic and generous of heart, so of course one day she would invite the whole country to make it with her. Champagne Problems, her eighth album and first in the producer's chair alongside partner Daniel Ledwell, gathers 13 musicians from coast to territory to coast in a series of collaborative Canadian magic tricks spun into classic country, lost disco hits, and ruminative folk fables. Featuring folks like Kim Harris, Aquaculture, Basia Bulat, Afie Jurvanen aka Bahamas, Dan Mangan, Hannah Georgas, Kevin Drew, Amy Millan AND more, Champagne Problems is now in the world on platform of your choosing. We had a real deep and honest chat and I hope you listen in. Hope to see ya for my final full band shows of 2023! E99 - We’ve been Mousing and Weening since December 2017 so this marks our three year anniversary of the podcast! Thank you to everyone for supporting us and listening! We celebrate by talking all about the party that some Christmas rats threw in Julianne’s kitchen and futon and closet and lingerie drawer. We even get a pop-in interview (the sweetest ever!) with the pest control man who happens to interrupt our recording! All this hot rat talk naturally gets us onto the subject of men so we create some steamy Damon, DiCaprio, Martin and Banderas sandwiches. After some past Argentine boyfriend reminiscing, we jump back to reality and recap Christmas in Idaho. It was a great visit full of skeet shooting, holiday traditions, and Cowboy Denny bear poking. We segue into Juls’ story of an ex throwing her into a bear, and an injurious snowboarding photo adventure. And now that we’re back in California, we’re in quarantine and questioning bubbles. We are hearing about more and more people close to us catching covid, which is not a fun subject. Be careful everyone! Back to fun romantic memories of New Years and our goals for 2021. Ah, it’s fun to relive these Tahoe, New York, Times Square crowd stories. Remember crowds?! We close this with a shoutout song to all of the podcasts we’ve mentioned in past episodes. The return of Rainbow Valley – the podcast that tells the stories about the swinging decade. Episode 023 The Theft Of The Duke Of Wellington Dr No, the first big screen outing for Ian Fleming’s James Bond. Its 1962, and the movie would start to lay out a successful formula for most of the other movies that would follow in the series. Of course when we speak about Dr No, most of us will remember Bonds introduction at the casino, Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder emerging from the sea in ‘that’ bikini or the scene where the spider crawls up Sean Connery’s arm. But what about this scene….and in particular, one specific moment. James Bond and Honey Ryder have just met the evil Dr No in his underground lair. Before crushing an ornament with his metal hand and telling the pair of SPECTRE’s dastardly plan to hold the world to ransom, they are led away. As they walk up a small set of steps, Bond stops, noticing an oil painting on an easel to his right …. The painting was a portrait of Arthur Wellesly the first Duke of Wellington, painted by Francisco de Goya - and only several months before the release of Dr No it had been hanging on display in London’s National Gallery. When it was stolen however, one early August morning, it made national and international headlines. The story would develop with an unlikely villain, who like Dr No, would hold the British government to ransom. A story that would span many decades and involve a high profile court case, the introduction of a new criminal offence, and, of all things….the British tv license! Ladies and gentlemen, Rainbow Valley is proud to present the story of the theft of the Duke of Wellington. The return of Rainbow Valley – the podcast that tells the stories about the swinging decade. Episode 021 – The Zapruder Film. Season three opens with the story of a sequence of film that runs for approximately 22 seconds. A piece of 8mm film that is only 25 feet in length and yet is possibly the most watched piece of celluloid in history….and certainly the most famous home movie ever. For within that 22 seconds, Dallas dress manufacturer, Abraham Zapruder managed to capture the death of the most powerful man on the planet on November 22nd 1963. Episode 020 of the Rainbow Valley podcast – telling the stories that made the swinging decade. Emil Savundra, for a brief period in the late sixties, was probably the most reviled man in the UK. A Sri Lankan swindler, the collapse of his Fire, Auto and Marine Insurance Company left about 400,000 motorists in the United Kingdom without coverage. As a post-war black marketeer, Savundra committed bribery and fraud on an international scale before settling in the UK to sell low-cost insurance in the fast-growing automotive market. By defaulting on mandatory securities, he funded a lavish lifestyle and travelled in fashionable circles. This attracted the attention of the press, who uncovered evidence of major fraud. In a TV interview with David Frost, Savundra demonstrated contempt for his defrauded customers (some of whom were in the studio audience) and denied any moral responsibility. That particular tv show witnessed the birth of trial by television and is a fascinating piece of broadcasting history. Ladies and gentlemen, Rainbow Valley is proud to present the story of David Frost, Emil Savundra, and the trial by television. Episode 018 of The Rainbow Valley podcast – telling the stories that made the swinging decade. Join me as I tell the story of the movie that nearly brought 20th Century Fox crashing to the ground. The longest and most expensive movie ever made at the time. The movie that nearly killed it’s leading lady, Elizabeth Taylor. The movie that sparked one of the greatest romances of the twentieth century. Ladies and gentlemen, Rainbow Valley is proud to present the story of the making of Cleopatra (1963) This and other episodes are available on our website rainbowvalley.libsyn.com You can follow the podcast on Twitter @rv_podcast Join our Facebook group Or send us your thoughts and feedback to rainbowvalleypod@gmail.com #Podpals #podernfamily This has been a Stinking Pause production. This week's podcast starts off with Tom recounting a trip up to London to meet Adam Roche from the Attaboy Clarence and Secret History of Hollywood podcasts as well as a bunch of his listeners. A good time was had by all, but no ice creams! A North Korean soldier defected to the south under a hail of bullets, but what was really strange is what was found in his gut that made treating him so difficult. Tom got embroiled in a Twitter argument on Friday about a potential terror attack in London that raises some interesting questions about social justice warriors and when a rumour becomes news. Ant reads some nominations from the Bad Sex in Fiction shortlist, which includes some 'interesting' descriptions of appendages and actions. Liz Taylorson, the wife of #PodPal Ben (Rated H), has had her first novel published. Go buy it through our amazon banner, it's called The Little Church by the Sea and costs £1.99. Perfect for a quick Christmas read. Also, check out our other network mates on #Podpals, #BritPodScene and Abnormal Entertainment. Enjoy! The Anywhere But Here Podcast has reached it's 200th episode, so Ant and Tom decided to have a few guests on that they have somehow overlooked or previously promised. The first half of the episode features Andrew Bartlett who has taken a break from podcasting for a while, but is still working on things. On this part of the episode the guys talk Doctor Who, work, books and Terry Pratchett's last wishes. The second half of the episode features Andrew, Scott and Steve from the Weekly Geek Speak Podcast. For reasons that escape all of them (mainly politeness and forgetfulness) these two shows have never crossed over. It looked like it would never happen either, but it seems the WGS lads are going to get it together again and record at least one more episode and possibly more. In this part of the show there's a special 'Bumpy Goose' story and the return of 'Coffee Table Movie Quiz, along with a load of chat. Here's to the next 200 hundred episodes and the resurrection of the PodPals! Enjoy! Get in touch with us: Twitter - @abhpod Facebook - facebook.com/abhpod Youtube - youtube.com/abhpodcast

In this emergency edition of the Anywhere But Here podcast, Tom sits down at a moment between engagements to rain down praise on the shows he thinks you should be listening to and why. Ant was supposed to have recorded an episode with a special guest, but has come down with tonsilitis, prompting Tom to save you all from a month without a podcast. But, what he is really doing is putting out a huge, shameless advert for the PodPal community of independent podcast which Ant and Tom fully admit to being lax on promoting in the past. Podcasts included in this episode include: The Tom & Jo Show, Shipped High In Transit, The Attaboy Clarence Podcast, The Secret History of Hollywood, Mating Habits of the Modern Geek, The Stinking Pause Podcast, Weekly Geek Speak, The DrunkGeekBlog Podcast, A History of Misunderstanding, Nerd Church, RIJcast, Room 173, The Adam Buxton Podcast, Athletico Mince, Kevin Smith's podacst network, Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo's Film Reviews, Page 94, Richard Herring's podcast output, Scott Mills Daily, What Say You?, [BRACKET!], Dark Angels and Pretty Freaks, Stride and Saunter, Sweet Feathery Jesus, Idiots of Facebook and We're Alive! Tom completely forgot to mention Distraction Pieces by UK spoken word artist and rapper, Scroobius Pip. This is one of the big ones that you really should listen to if you enjoy interview-based podcasts. Ant and Tom will be back, health permitting, in two weeks time returning to regularly scheduled programming. Until then, have fun perusing these podcasts and let us know of any podcasts we really should be listening to too. Enjoy! We made it to Episode 70! It's our 3rd anniversary, and 70 episodes later we're still going strong. We ramble on about Batman: Arkham Knight, my haunted second bedroom, and my dead grandma's new Twitter account. Paris and The Business, LLC talk about their wedding and show unmarried listeners what they have to look forward to when they finally find their true loves. The Business, LLC thinks kids who've lost their hair due to chemotherapy are just Airbenders. and he has concerns about the recently bankrupt 50 Cent. Paris has got all the latest Reddit news and shares her concerns, and we come up with a new teen magazine for Star Wars nerds: PalpaTEEN! For the main topic, we focus specifically on what's been happening in my dating life over the past month and why guys who I'm chatting with seem so aloof and uninterested after the initial online connection. The Business shares some interesting insights as to what might actually be happening, Paris is concerned with why it's always up to the girl to steer the conversation, and I give some advice to guys in the dating world who are striking out and don't know why -- is it because you're doing the things we're talking about? Tables are flipped over smug guys I went out with once or twice two years ago who think I owe them sexting, and Paris is furious about internet trolls who just don't get it. Were taking a small summer break and will return with Episode 71 in three weeks. In the meantime, check out what's shaking over at Alpha Counter, any of the #PodPals podcasts, and please listen to the first episode of Room 173 with M3JCNV - My Fair Andrew's new solo show! Mating Habits of the Modern Geek: Love and Dating within Your own Species - your comedy source for relationship advice for geeks and nerds!
What happens when you ask the internet to share personal stories about infidelity with you? A 3 hour and 15 minute podcast, that's what. But look at it this way, you've got three weeks to listen to it while we go on our cycle break. Sean Ryan of Alpha Counter invites us into his studio to talk about one of the most negative sides to dating and relationships: cheating. Emails and interviews came pouring in from you, the much-loved listeners, and in addition to some emails (a couple of them from fellow #PodPals) we got five interviews from all sides of the spectrum: Bill, Pete, and Erin are straight-up cheated on, while Amy and Dandy - well, it's more complicated. We thank them profusely for coming forward and sharing their personal stories. We truly have the best listeners in the world! In more faithful news, we geek out over Destiny, and a game called Starwhal where you can be a narwhal in an afro, dressed in a sushi costume, piercing the hearts of your fellow narwhals IN SPACE! We check in with My Fair Andrew for reports from his fourth task and assign his fifth - always a delight! Sadly, the 24-hour news stations had to take a break from reporting about llamas in blue/black or white/gold dresses to deliver the sad news that Leonard Nimoy passed away on Friday, February 27th at the age of 83. He was beloved, lived long and prospered, and his talents will live on forever. Tables get up-ended over guys who respond to regular non-flirty question with confirmation that they have a girlfriend/wife/partner, and Sean wants you to give up he ghost on any of your comic movies ever being like it was, "Well, in the comic..." See you back on March 23rd for another round of Mating Habits - don't go cheating on us with any other nerdy relationship podcasts. We'll find out! Mating Habits of the Modern Geek: Love and Dating within Your own Species - your comedy source for relationship advice for geeks and nerds!
Michael returns to help us navigate the choppy water known as Social Awkwardness. We offer tips from personal experience on how to get through the toughest of social situations, and ways to psyche yourself out when that inner voice is telling you everything is going to go wrong. I mean, one time I unintentionally make fun of a one-eyed barista - you can dig yourself out of any hole ;) Why aren't the PodPals a group of superhero, crime-fighting, cape-wearing corgis? Because we should be. Michael finishes Skyrim (current news!) and bitches about the Hobbit movies, and I make a case for Netflix's The Fall. Someone makes a bad first impression with me, which is hardly news-worthy, but certainly apropos. And we get another installment of My Fair Andrew, complete with new theme song! Tables are flipped because everyone's panties are in a bunch about an all-female Ghostbusters reboot, and apparently snow is a thing that sometimes happens in NYC. LINKS: Like a Punch to the Dick! Mating Habits of the Modern Geek: Love and Dating within Your own Species - your comedy source for relationship advice for geeks and nerds!
What happens when two people who love to talk are put on the same podcast? Epic-length show! Andrew from Two Loose Screws stops by to discuss anything and everything, including Andrew's Vine fame (Look him up - username: M3JCNV), the horrors of working retail during the holidays and returned mince meat pies, and the country song-like ballad of Grandma's Tiny Christmas Tree. I'm officially a member of #PodPals, Hooray! I finish Dragon Age: Inquisition, fail at doing so on Twitch, and finally try Destiny, which is pretty fun. Hackers are bullshit assholes, both at home and abroad. We go deep with a discussion about the Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Last Christmas. It's a Mating Habits tradition. New Episode Segment: May Fair Andrew Andrew plays the Audrey Hepburn to my Rex Harrison (go watch some great classic movies, damn it!) in a new segment called: "My Fair Andrew" where we follow his progress as he builds his self-confidence and gets better at meeting and talking to new people. We'll be checking in on him as the weeks go by to follow his progress through different challenges that should help him get better at socializing with strangers and building confidence. Wish him luck! Pro-tip: Don't ask people questions like, "How much does your skin weigh on its own?" You won't get advice of this quality anywhere else - guaranteed. Tables get flipped over strangers arguing with me on OKC, and Andrew likes to keep it vanilla, and that's just fine. He has enough personality that he doesn't need your flashy flavors! Mating Habits of the Modern Geek: Love and Dating within Your own Species - your comedy source for relationship advice for geeks and nerds!
