Welcome to another episode of Fratello On Air. This week, we hop into our time machine and travel back 10 years to 2016. As we'll see, in some ways, this wasn't so long ago. Yet, in others, it was a different lifetime. Join us as we look back on fonder days.HandgelenkskontrolleIt's been a while since we've recorded, and much of this is down to Mike's travels in Germany. Sadly, on one of the trips, he had a very Balazs-like travel experience involving planes and trains. If he did have a time machine, he'd probably go back and choose to sleep through his alarm that day. We mention an upcoming Sotheby's auction featuring a pair of Michael Jordan's shoes from the Dream Team Barcelona Olympics. Balazs discusses the return of The Night Manager, a show that, coincidentally, has returned after its first season in 2016! For the Handgelenkskontrolle, Balazs is wearing an upcoming release, the Nivada Grenchen F77 MKII. Mike was wearing his Rolex Sea-Dweller 1665 "Great White" in Germany and still has it on his wrist.Taking our time machine back to 2016Yes, it's hard to believe that 2016 was 10 years ago! Time flies! In this episode, we're reminiscing about a year that brought some interesting releases and behavior. Specifically, vintage watches were within a boom period. In particular, a Patek Philippe 1518 sold at Phillips for over CHF 11 million! It was hard for us to believe that watches were achieving these sums a decade ago.Many new watches from back then still feel relatively modern, but there's no doubt that larger diameters and chunkier cases were in vogue. The Blancpain Bathyscaphe Blue and Ceramic is a good example of this, but to be fair, the same basic platform is still in the catalog today. Speaking of big and robust watches, Robert-Jan reviewed the Sinn U212, which still looks fresh. If we truly want to feel old, Tudor was already in its second year of offering non-ETA movements. Omega launched a rare box-office stinker with the blue and white CK2998, a piece that has aged quite well.Our time machine continues its journey and finds the wild Hublot Big Bang Berluti, which was available in gold or steel and showed off a leather dial. Seiko, announced a partnership with PADI. This caused a stir, and several of us on the team grabbed one of the new models. TAG Heuer announced a Monza PVD, a retro chronograph with a thick case. However, we save the most significant announcement for last. Rolex, after producing steel Daytona 116500LN models with a steel bezel for over 25 years, introduced pieces with ceramic bezels. Understandably, the excitement was palpable and hit Basel like a hurricane. We remark that these watches have been unavailable since that time!We hope you enjoy today's episode. Sometimes you just have to be honest with yourself and, when it comes to my latest efforts regarding my diet and training, I have to accept the fact that a seven week plateau is probably a sign that I've found myself doing 'just enough' instead of 'what's required to make change'. That doesn't mean I'm defeated, far from it. I'd rather be realistic and adjust now than keep going for another six weeks and find myself in the same position. I've given it a fair crack but the science would say, I'm not doing enough (in the episode, I explain why this is actually really valuable data). Outside of that, I need your TV recommendations. Adeel Akhtar is an award-winning actor whose breakthrough role came in 2010 when he starred in Chris Morris's black comedy Four Lions. He won his first BAFTA for Best Actor in 2017 for his role in the BBC drama Murdered by My Father. His second, for Best Supporting Actor, came in 2023 playing Andy Fisher in the BBC series Sherwood.Adeel was born in Hounslow in West London and grew up in Buckinghamshire. He discovered a love of acting at school when he and a group of friends put on a production of Harold Pinter's play The Homecoming. He read law at university but in 2002 followed his true passion and took a drama course at The Actors Studio in New York.He got his first screen part playing one of the four hijackers of United Airlines Flight 93 in the television docudrama Let's Roll: the Story of Flight 93. He has gone on to stretch his talents playing roles in the television series Fool Me Once, The Night Manager and Killing Eve. When The Night Manager aired in 2016, it was an instant success. Based on the 1993 John le Carré novel of the same name, the series centered on former British soldier Jonathan Pine. In the show, Pine is recruited by MI6 to infiltrate the secret network of a notorious arms dealer. Ten years later, the series returns, despite the fact le Carré never wrote a sequel before he died. The number of abortions recorded in England and Wales has reached a record high, according to the latest government figures from the Department of Health. There were 277,970 abortions in 2023, the highest number since the Abortion Act was introduced in 1967 - which is 11 per cent higher than the previous year in 2022. Rachael Clarke is Head of Advocacy for the British Pregnancy Advisory Service - known as B-PAS, and tells Anita Rani about the findings. In 2025 alone she walked at Paris Fashion Week, spoke at the United Nations about face equality and won 'Fashion and beauty influencer of the year' at the the UK and Ireland TikTok awards, all while managing a chronic illness. Nikki Lilly is a Bafta and Emmy award-winner, an influencer and a campaigner and she joins Anita in the studio. January is one of the toughest times for managing finances - and this year the pressure is hitting harder than ever. In just the first week of 2026, more than 13,000 people turned to Citizens Advice for help with debt. Last January, over 50,000 people sought support, and they expect this year to be even worse. New polling commissioned by the charity over the last six months reveals one in three people in problem debt have gone without essentials like food and women are feeling the squeeze more than men, with nearly 40% of those seeking advice being impacted compared to 31% of men. To discuss, Anita is joined by principle policy manager at Citizens Advice, Emer Sheehy, and personal finance and consumer expert Sue Hayward.Grief over a pet's death can be as strong as that for a family member or close friend, new research shows.
