Label: Epic 10864 djYear: 1972Condition: M-Price: $22.00Stereo/Mono promo copy. The overwhelming feeling of joy in this performance is truly infectious... And notice that what's been found is not just "love" or "a love," but "The love"! How radio failed to notice it is beyond me, but don't you miss out! I'm adding a snippet to the Classic 45s jukebox so I can keep the sound handy. :-) Note: This copy comes in a vintage Epic Records factory sleeve. The A side label has very light ringwear (doesn't show up well in the scan). The audio, I'm pleased to say, is pristine Mint!

Hi. How are you? I hope you and your loved ones are coping with the lockdown. Here in London we're into the third week of isolation, and thought I'd try and improve the mood by mixing up some great disco tracks so that we can all safely party on at home. And here they are; over two and a half hours of original, new, remixed and edited disco, mixed with love in London. Some of my personal favourites include our set starter, Bob Sinclar's collaboration with Robbie Williams, given a total disco makeover by Discoslap; Again & again by DJ Mark Brickman; Arthur Prysock's "When love is new" lovingly edited by DJ Laurel, a great track with a great pedigree with Gamble & Huff as writers and John Davis on production - lush. And there's a couple of tracks that pre-date the disco era including Frankie Valli's "The Night" which in its original 1972 form was a massive Northern Soul hit and features here slowed a little and disconated by Lolita. Then there's the legendary Dusty Springfield and her 1969 hit "Son of a preacher man" given the 4/4 treatment and a new funky bassline by Jakob Trice. And I love Rena Scott's 1979 hit "Super lover" with a subtle edit by DJ XS. Plus classics from Michael, Chaka, and Thelma. Enjoy! Taken from the Rena Scott Album " Come on inside " this absolute bomb of a piece of disco boogie gets a slight rework with drums and percussion nothing more... Sure, I love Multi-track remixes but for me this has as much as it needs to make it work on the current dancefloor. A vinyl only release at this stage and you can get it from the follwoing link. What a gem!

Funky Pearls vol 782 special Rena Scott Rena Scott was inducted into the R&B Hall on August 21st, 2016 in Detroit, Michigan along with Smoky Robinson, Dione Warwick, Kathy Hughes and many more. Rena has a new Hot Single “A LOVE THANG” Remix Soulful Jazzy BM Remix that released on February 25th, 2017 in the Netherlands as a soulful dance song. The song is written by the talented Lloyd Tolbert and Rena Scott is now soulfully remixed at TheRoomRecordings here in Holland. The song A Love Thang received a Grammy nomination in 2005 for Best New R&B Album in the Urban Adult Contemporary Category. It is time to do a new release of this major hit. She is pushing her legacy and music forward with her experiences toward the young and the gifted singers, writers and producers. With her new release single ‘A Love Thang’ Rena also reaches out to her fans here in Europe. Rena Scott performs with several new young and established artists, producers creating the musical bridge towards the future. She has 3 new single releases. They are remixes of her classic Hit “Remember” on the Room Recordings Label released on September 16th, 2016. Her first Christmas song “Christmas Time Is Here” was released on Nov 17th, 2016. Starting out at age 12 in her hometown Detroit, singing for local Baptist congregations, singer Rena Scott entered her first major talent contest at age 13. Soon afterwards came her very first record. "I Just Can't Forget That Boy" at the age of 15. She blossomed as a performer, and began playing two or three gigs a night on weekends at local nightclubs. She opened for many of the Motown acts like The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Originals and many other popular artists. When the "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin (also a native Detroiter) needed a third backup singer for a few gigs, the then 18 year old Scott got her million-to-one shot at singing on stage with her idol at the Pine Knob Ski Resort in Northern Michigan, and more importantly, in front of thousands at Carnegie Hall! In those days, she patterned her own singing after her. Scott then started working to develop her own style as she listened to other artists like Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, and Barbra Streisand. She emerged with a unique sound. Having had that one night experience at Carnegie, Scott vowed she would return there someday to perform. Scott began recording and/or touring with such greats as The Jazz Crusaders, David Ruffin, Bobby Womack, Phil Perry, Ronnie Mc Neir and Michael Henderson (with whom she recorded the smash hit "Take Me I'm Yours" from Henderson's album "In The Nighttime" in 1979) With her growing years of experience and popularity, Scott wowed many thousands in other places; first the nightclubs in Detroit, then later in Los Angeles. She toured in the 80's with The Crusaders, and came on board with founding Crusaders members Joe Sample, Wilton Felder and Stix Hooper after the departure of Randy Crawford, performing their 1979 pop hit "Street Life" performing for crowds of up to 50,000 people, touring top R & B and Jazz festivals in the U.S. and Europe that included the famous Montrose Jazz Festival in Montrose Switzerland.. While she's always made her living singing in clubs, singing backup, performing with legendary figures and doing jingles for companies like Levi's 501 Jeans and Sunny Delight, the stop and start nature of Scott's own solo recording career has made for an intense emotional roller coaster. After touring with Michael Henderson on the strength of their hit single “Take Me I’m Yours’s” in 1978, Henderson's record company Buddha Records signed her to a record deal. She recorded the half disco, half R&B ballad album titled `Come on Inside'. The album was produced by the powerhouse R&B team Mtume and Reggie Lucas, former jazz musicians who had scored pop hits for Stephanie Mills, Roberta Flack & Donnie Hathaway, Phyllis Hyman and Lou Rawls. After the record company folded, she left Detroit for a short stop in Las Vegas where she did shows at Caesar's Palace and the Landmark Hotel. She then decided to settle in Los Angeles to seek new recording opportunities. Before hooking up with The Crusaders, she had started writing songs with veteran producer and songwriter Skip Scarborough who wrote songs for LTD, Anita Baker, Earth, Wind & Fire and many other artists. In 1989 Scott re-emerged on Sedona Records with the album `Love Zone', from which the first single "Do That To Me One More Time" hit the Billboard R&B Singles chart. The follow-up "I Could Use A Kiss", which became her first video, also received extensive airplay. Soon after, she once again fell victim to label traumas. There were three failed deals in all before Rena started her own independent label, Amor Records. She started a fruitful creative song writing relationship with songwriter/producer Lloyd Tolbert, and emerged her label debut album, `Let Me Love You', distributed by KES Distribution. It showcased Scott on the sultry title track as right at home; singing soulfully about that first spark of romance. Yet the seductive invitation taps into something much deeper, reflecting the passion of her relationship to audiences worldwide over a fascinating musical lifetime. That same track "Let Me Love You" was featured in two key scenes of the HBO Cinemax film `Love and Action in Chicago', starring Courtney Vance, Regina King, Kathleen Turner and Ed Asner. I hope to inspire others whose dreams are as vast as mine." She eventually plans to write a book and maybe even make a movie about her life. The musical trials and tribulations, as well as the triumphs, including the early years in Detroit experiencing her parent’s violent marriage. Rena is now an advocate against domestic violence. Rena’s CD "Take Me Away" was released October 26th 2010. The 13-song set contains songs that Scott co-wrote and co-produced with Tolbert. It includes covers of some of her all-time favorites like Joy And Pain and "Don't Ask My Neighbors". Rena is excited to work with Producer Lloyd Tolbert once again. She is working on her new single “Until you Come Back To Me” a remake of her mentor Aretha Franklin to be released in March, 2017. She working another Christmas song and Track she wrote with the late great Skip Scarbough. It features all the original Jazz Crusaders playing on it. stay tuned for her up and coming tour to a city near you called “Rena Scott Sings Motown” with the talent, the drive, and the passion to continue rising to the top! Cool Million have become a solid rock in today's tumultuous barren musical desert. The sands shift very regularly. Everything is in flux. Yet Rob Hardt and Frank Ryle, who comprise Cool Million, stand unnerved and unwavering. The reason, dear reader, is very simple. These guys KNOW about music. They are not following trends, jumping on bandwagons or even trying to create a trend. Both well known and respected in the radio and song writing fields, these gentleman are simply creating real music with real feeling and doing so with all the knowledge, love and respect for what we can affectionately call the groove! Bursting onto the scene in 2007 with “Naughty Girl” that was featured on the popular Soul Togetherness series and then followed by the essential “Going Out Tonight” album soul fans and music connoisseurs all around the world have eagerly awaited new product, and various songs remixed by the legendary Tom Moulton on have whet our appetite ever since. The new album, the aptly titled “Back For More”, is here and boy are you going to love it! The bar has been raised, the gears shifted higher and the scene set for future greatness. These cats have laid down a series of party grooves with a seriously tasty guest list of soulful and funky vocalists to make you sit up and pay attention. Now, that's something a lot of today's R&B cannot do! The vibe is very much in an 80s setting, yet the sensibility is very much today. These boys understand the basics and know that great soul music is timeless...this is the Cool Million sound. Helping create their sound are a star-studded guest list Meli'sa Morgan has been a favourite of ours since she burst onto the scene with Alyson Williams and Erick McClinton as High Fashion. Her powerful, no-nonsense vocals grace the first lead single, “Sweet Baby”. Cool Million meet the As sassy and sexy as ever, Cool Million are a perfect match for her rip-roaring style. The wonderfully soulful Broomfield family are very much included on the album with Al Broomfield, Eugene Wilde and sister Dee Dee all gracing the songs “Loose”, “Back For More” all of which are going to become firm favourites on the quality modern soul scene. Cool Million have this knack of taking our favourite artists, giving them the groove that suits them, and to top it all drawing out and emphasising the best facets of that artist. The results are astounding and if in any doubt check out the killer duet “Loose”. Enough said! The UK's Noel McKoy is a point in fact. His smooth approach pitted against a slamming mid 80s Jam & Lewis type groove is simply sublime. Genius abounds on this CD. Yes, the album oozes class, and no-one is better to assist on this than Peggi Blu. Known for her 1980s sets for MCA and Capitol, and later Expansion in 2002, this Lady captivates us with the stylish and classy floater “I See You”. This will be a firm favourite on the quiet storm circuit for definite. The legendary Leroy Burgess woos us with “Cool Million”, his unique style perfect for the Cool Million sound, and helping to make today's music scene ever more vibrant and meaningful. The wonderful Rena Scott is also to be found with her sensuous yet boogie flavoured “Come 2 Me”. Newer names are also embraced and these artists fully carry the musical torch that is so important to the Cool Million ethos. The integrity of the past meets the talent of today and breeds hope for the future...and no-one can fault the brilliance of artists such as Jahah, Paul Mac Innes, Jeniqua, P.A.C.E., Laura Jackson, Yvonne Gage and Clare Evers. Combining the best vocal talents from all over the world, raising the musical bar and constantly setting the agenda and setting trends, Rob Hardt and Frank Ryle are set to dominate radio, dancefloors and CD players the world over. Years of experience, love for the music and creative skill are perfectly forged together in this CD project. We, as they, are definitely “Back For More”.
