Dr Dubplate's entry into dance music came as a teenager. Heavily influenced by his father – then manager of London institution Plastic People – he grew up absorbing Afrobeat, Rare Groove, House and Funk. Working the cloakroom on Thursday nights at Plastic People he was exposed to residencies and performances from some of the most esteemed artists – Theo Parrish, Four Tet and Floating Points to name a few- which paved the way for an education in and appreciation of UK Sound system and club culture. Dr Dubplate's DJ stripes were earned in Bristol, as promoter and resident for party series Piff where he played alongside artists such as Mall Grab, DJ Seinfeld and Hodge. In 2020 he established ec2a – a more personal project referencing his inspiration and upbringing. Emerging during the height of the new UK Garage scene, Yanis's debut as Dr Dubplate soon followed. With label and DJ projects running side by side, a following quickly formed, leading to bookings up and down the country when clubs re-opened, and a breakthrough year in 2021. A memorable headline B2B set with Interplanetary Criminal for Keep Hush, at their sold out summer festival, catapulted him into the eyes and ears of post-pandemic clubbers as did an ec2a Fabric RM3 takeover later that year. Happy Lost Lands Week! Enjoy a throwback episode from our live series at Lost Lands 2021 with special guest Funtcase. Producer and DJ from Bournemouth, UK, FuntCase aka James Hazell is known for his raw and dirty sound, forging the way with his controversial ‘filthy' style. “FuntCase produces sensory overload bass music that wobbles, womps and machine guns through your body, making you dance whether you want to or not.” James first expressed his love of music through jamming with his schoolmates, taking his energetic and aggressive drumming style from death metal as well as being heavily influenced by happy hardcore and jungle, growing up to a background of Helter Skelter and Dreamscape mixtapes. In 2009 James began to dabble with producing dubstep, giving his tunes a big energy by incorporating the drum and bass layering technique into his dubstep sound. His first track ‘Make Our Day' was quickly signed to 4:20 Records. And so began the raw sound that is FuntCase. It wasn't long before FuntCase began trading tracks with Doctor P, and an offer soon followed to bring James into the Circus Records camp with the release of his famed track ‘So Vexed', with ‘Mattress Punch' on the flip, in 2010. Since then the phenomenon has grown, FuntCase has become a legend of the DJ world. With an incredibly loyal fan base Funty is known worldwide for working hard, playing hard, travelling hard – and DJing hard on stages globally. Over the years, championing other artists in the scene with his DPMO compilation albums and expanding the brand into its very own clothing line, it was a natural progression for FuntCase to head up his own imprint label falling under the DPMO brand. Karmel Jäger Bio Producer/DJ Karmel Jäger is best known for her dark and hectic ravey sets. Initially a London-based professional classical singer, she toured the UK and Europe before returning to Sydney and her first love, techno. As a DJ she's been on support for the likes of Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kutz, Denham Audio, Manifesto, Tred, Bushbaby, Dr Dubplate, DJ Jackum and Mark N. Over the past couple of years her music has been garnering attention from the likes of Rinse FM, FBI Radio, Balaami, Aaja and WNCL with support from Emerald, Ehua and Dead Man's Chest. Her debut solo EP came out on Extra Spicy in 2022 and she's been contributing to their VA's since then with her tracks “The Aliens Have Landed” and her N-Trance bootleg of “Set You Free”. Her debut EP was released in 2021 by Berlin label Tooflez Muzik, with remixes from Andi A and the Tooflez All Starz team. In December 2022, her EP “The Moon Becomes The Sun”, was released by Choki Biki Records in Dublin. A remix EP was released in January 2023, featuring remixes from Borai, Sharpson and Hedchef. 2024 has seen her release “Something For Your Mind” on Patchworks (Bristol) and a new EP “Laundry in Berlin” on Big Ting Recordings featuring a remix from Eluize. Karmel's sets are high energy spanning grime, ravey techno and breakbeats, and often include unexpected moments that might be anything from hiphop to a Mozart remix.

As a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, djembe) and producer (Kalpana Studio), he has been providing riddims for various artists, releasing tunes on vinyl and digital. As a soundman, he founded alongside “Light-On Super-Disco” in 2020 the “Dub And Future” Sound system, producing tunes also for other sound systems. The female melodica player Aki Mittoo: Coming from the town of Aichi and already a regular on the label, she is known through her collaborations with Dub Cmd, SistaSara and Soul Fire. Nevertheless, this is her first release on Dubophonic Records as a member of a full Far East crew. She has a license as a Yamaha piano instructor and a Suzuki Musical Instrument melodion instructor. her playing Style is cultivated through her experience as instrumentalist in different genres throughout the years. The Kette drum player and manufacturer Goja Bongos: He lives in the town of Hyogo and he likes earthy music: reggae, African, afro-Cuban and Latin. After his visit in Jamaica in 2005, experiencing the authentic reggae music, he returned to japan and in 2009 he started manufacturing kette drums. Since 2015, he has been in charge of the percussion in the roots reggae band of Sister Maki, while his passion for drumming guided him to form in 2019 his own nyahbinghi project. "Goja" is a local dialect of Banshu that means "crazy"! If you enter the circle of Nyahbinghi, the drums of Goja Bongos will shake the earth with a dangerous presence.

'Beams of Light' is a collection of ambient and modern classical tracks that address in equal measure the perceptual and the corporeal: these are sounds that sink into the body, exhibiting a tactility that pushes, pulls, bends, and yields with fearsome vibrancy. It's a rich interdependence that lets the tracks breathe, grow and mutate with uncanny organicism. Finding moments of melody amongst the wide landscape of abstract sounds and samples is the only glimpse of reality you'll find down here. Our premiere for today, "Variant," takes the spotlight as an ethereal and mesmerizing snippet captured during the live set at Hypnose Room during this year's La Nature festival. The collaborative efforts of Kato de Vidts and J Noon shine through as they skillfully blend soft, otherworldly pads, lush piano melodies, and tranquil strings, seamlessly transporting listeners into an interdimensional meditative state. Scheduled for release on August 15 via the Pregnant Void record label, “Beams of Light” is an impressive showcase of creativity and talent from its contributing artists.
