Join us as we break down the key moments, including the standout performance from the Seahawks defense, which dominated the line of scrimmage in a seven sack performance while holding the Jags under 60 yards rushing. On the offensive side, we highlight another incredible game from Jaxon Smith-Njigba where he caught eight passes for 162 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his ability to stretch the field. We also examine Sam Darnold's clean performance, throwing for nearly 300 yards without any interceptions. But what happened with the run game? As we look ahead to the upcoming matchup against the Houston Texans, we talk briefly about what the Seahawks need to do to improve to 5-2 before the bye week. The Seattle Seahawks take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend and we'd like to see our team continue the strange dichotomy of the road game success. Based on the Jaguars recent performance, are they being overhyped after wins against the Chiefs and 49ers? We take a look at the Jaguars offensive strengths, such as their run game, offensive line, and receiving corps, breaking down their potential impacts on the game. While they've had several standout players who have helped to generate turnovers, it doesn't mean the team is without weaknesses on that side of the ball. Seattle will need to hold onto their edge in and third-down and red zone conversion rates while avoiding those same costly mistakes that doomed the Niners and KC. In Do Better this week, our NFC West rivals are in the spotlight as Jonathan Gannon showed questionable leadership on the Arizona Cardinals sideline this past week. But does Kyler Murray actually deserve some of the heat that he's been getting on social media lately? Better at life honors go out to a Swiss company revolutionizing steel recycling using solar power and a Mariners fan who gets the "prepper" stamp of approval. Gus tells us about the emerging talents on both sides of the ball, other key players and what the Seahawks need to do against this Jags defense. We get into the strengths and weaknesses of both teams, including how the Seahawks can exploit Jacksonville's defense while shoring up their own after a tough week last week. We also touch on the importance of key players like Sam Darnold and Ken Walker, and how their performances could dictate the outcome of the game. The Seahawks put up 35 points on Sunday, but the interior of the offensive line did not grade out well according to Pro Football Focus? What goes into the grading metrics and how does a player like Anthony Bradford get a zero grade in the pass game? We contrast Bradford's performance with Grey Zabel on the opposite side. A mix of the quick game, moving the pocket and some elusiveness form Sam Darnold helped to make this offense shine and performances by AJ Barner and Tory Horton are helping contribute to this offensive success. The conversation shifts to the defensive side, where linebacker and secondary play were notably problematic. Missed tackles and lapses in coverage allowed the Buccaneers to convert multiple third-and-long situations. Up front, the pass rush wasn't effective and that leads to a discussion about potential moves the Seahawks could make. Pursuing Trey Hendrickson from the Bengals could bolster the defensive line, but would the cost be worth it? Are there some other potential trade options the Seahawks should consider? Despite the tough loss, the Seahawks offense showed a lot of promise. We saw a stellar performance from Sam Darnold and an incredible game by Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Special teams also delivered, with several impressive returns and a soul stealing tackle. But, the defensive struggles were evident, as the Seahawks had issues with coverage and tackling. We get into some of the individual mistakes and poor decisions that contributed to the loss, and highlighting areas where the team needs to improve. For 59 minutes, Sam Darnold played lights out at quarterback -- up until he drilled a pass into the top of a Bucs helmet and into the intercepting arms of Lavonte David. Up until that point, Darnold had some close calls, but everything had gone the Seahawks way on offense. Defensively, the team was not as lucky. While the 38-35 win was set up from an INT, the previous 35 points were entirely on a sloppy and injury-plagued defensive performance. But they did get one critical stop in the 4th quarter and help the Bucs game in check all day. Is this really a “measuring stick” game for the Seahawks? We discuss whether beating the Bucs would finally get the national media to take Seattle seriously, or if they'll still have something to prove with a win. Both teams have had some shaky performances against questionable teams, at the same time they both seem to be playoff caliber team. How is that possible? The Bucs are banged up, missing key players like Jamel Dean, Mike Evans, and Bucky Irving, while the Seahawks are dealing with their own absences on defense. Things to watch! Can the Seahawks finally find some rhythm in the run game, or will the Bucs' run defense shut them down? Targeting the Bucs linebackers in coverage could be the key to unlocking the passing game. Will Seattle's 64% red zone scoring rate be the difference-maker? Could this be the breakout game for Derrick Hall? Nick Emmanwori is back and Ty Okada will fill in for Julian Love. How will the Seahawks approach the secondary with Derion Kendrick also filling in for Devon Witherspoon? Closing the show, Adam takes aim at Shedeur Sanders for his media antics, while Brandan calls out Rams fans for their complaints following the loss to the Niners. The Seattle Seahawks now sit atop the NFC West tied at 3-1 after a win over the Arizona Cardinals. The defense dominated for most of the game, yet needed some late-game heroics from Sam Darnold, who earned his first "stat" of his Seahawks career. Leonard Williams continues to shine on a defensive line that seems to be rotating among giving prime opportunities to a different guy each week. However, there are concerns about lapses and penalties, especially in the defense and from Tariq Woolen, and from Anthony Bradford who got highlighted in a social media post with most of his worst moments from the game. Could a Woolen trade fix both issues? Or should Seattle be content with a deep squad of defensive backs? We talk about what a potential trade return for Woolen could look like. From the game against the Cardinals to the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers, we saw how the new kickoff rule is impacting late-game strategy. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Ted Aukerman, author of the book A Farmboy, a Tom Boy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments. Ted was born in Ohio and moved to Oklahoma with his parents in 1978. He lives in Muskogee, OK, with his wife, Patti, his sweetheart of 38 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. With one on the way! His first novel published in 2024, is actually four shorter works that were combined to make the Skips Sparks Anthology, A Farm Boy, a Tomboy, Jesus Freaks and Divine Appointments. Ted is a singer-songwriter writing songs for Aukrocket Records. His albums are available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and Reverbnation to name a few. Movie fans will appreciate his contributions to the soundtrack of God, Where Are You? directed by De Miller from Lazarus Filmworks. Ted produces music and podcasts in his studio, Ted's Auto Repair. His podcast Tales From The Road of Life is available on many platforms. Also, on Reverbnation is music from Skip Sparks, one of his characters and Ted's alter ego. In my book review, I stated A Farmboy, A Tomboy, Jesus Freaks, and Divine Appointments is a Christian historical fiction filled with music, laughter, hard times, and saving grace. I thoroughly enjoyed Ted's characters, all of whom had problems, issues, disappointments, and poor decisions - and yet, they also had kindness, love, determination, and a need for something more than the world seemed ready to offer. This is a meandering story where you get to meet the characters, remeet them at earlier and later points in their lives, and finally see how they all come together, each touching the other. I enjoyed the music and poetry sprinkled throughout the pages, as well as watching characters go from dark places to places filled with light and hope. It was a nail-biting 23-20 victory for our Seattle Seahawks over the Arizona Cardinals, but it didn't need to be. We discuss some of the key moments, including a holding penalty on Jaxon Smith-Njigba and the plays that led up to a game-winning field goal by Jason Myers. Sam Darnold picked up his first "stat" as a member of the Seahawks and we talk about some of our favorite throws from the game. Defensively, the Seahawks were able to contain Kyler Murray and get consistent pressure through the first three quarters. Riq Woolen was again targeted late in the game and Devon Witherspoon was in coverage on some late receptions that allowed the Cardinals to get back in the game. Is there a need for a shakeup in the secondary? Finally, we look ahead a bit to the Bucs who come to town after the Seahawks get some extra rest going into their next matchup. Coach Macdonald owned the Cardinals last year and in the process made Kyler Murray look smaller than he already does. The Arizona Cardinals are returning home following a demoralizing loss to the San Francisco 49ers. We take a look at how Arizona's struggles are something they'll be able to pull out of as they face a suffocating Seahawks defense. Injuries, missed opportunities, and a culture that just can't seem to get out of its own way are going to have to be something the Cardinals have to overcome. With James Conner sidelined and Kyler Murray's deep ball missing in action, the guys see a clear path for Seattle to move to eight straight wins over the NFC West rival. Can the Seahawks' defense contain Trey McBride and force Kyler to beat them with his arm? Will Seattle's run game thrive against a Cardinals front that contains a familiar name? Looking at the rest of the NFC West: Is It a Two-Team Race? Which team between the 49ers and Rams should be the most concerning for Seattle moving forward. A tough week for the Seahawks following their matchup against the 49ers. Will key Seahawks players in their second year experience a jump, slump, or stay about the same? We review our analysis from the 2024 season and look ahead to 2025 as our Seahawks gear up for the new season. We also speculate on the possible second-year leap of head coach Mike McDonald and what it means for the team overall. Could Byron Murphy be poised for a second-year jump, or will the absence of a true nose tackle hinder his ability to make the leap in year two? The Seahawks are also going to be counting on Tyrice Knight and his development. If he slumps, there is not a lot of high-end depth to pick up the slack. Support the show Get in the Flock! The Seahawks initial 53-man roster for the 2025 season was announced on Tuesday. The Seahawks kepts six wide receivers, but still moved on from a veteran addition. Was it a $3 million mistake? The Seahawks also kept four tight ends. Or is it six tight ends? What do all these receiving options mean? Plus, we take a look at the defense where at least one veteran name is absent and a pre-season favorite was cut. A defensive player from the Pete Carroll era made the final 53 and we argue about the over/under for the number of snaps D'Anthony Bell will play in the first three games of the season. The Seahawks game against the Green Bay Packers closed out three weeks of preseason football for Seattle. By falling 20-7, the Seahawks tied, won and lost to complete the trifecta of preseason outcomes. While we were excited to see how Jalen Milroe could perform in a full game, his performance raised questions about when he might be ready to face an expanded role on offense. Run defense was one area where the team appeared to shine, holding the Packers to 3.5 yards per carry. Did this game answer any questions about who could be our Week 1 punt returner? If so, it could mean a surprise cut for an NFL veteran coming up this week. Support the show Get in the Flock!
