Society Flourishes Through Christ-Centred Relationships
How does a church flourish in God's love? Three particular pursuits are highlighted in 1 Timothy 1:5-11 that make all the difference.
In hour 1 of The Mark Reardon Show, Mark recaps his trip to Jefferson City and Columbia. He discusses the brainwashing that is occurring on college campuses and plays some audio straight from a class at Mizzou that backs that narrative. Mark is then joined by Charles Lipson, a Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago that writes regularly for The Spectator Magazine, Real Clear Politics, and others. He discusses the work at Elon Musk and DOGE are doing right now to expose unnecessary government spending and more. He is later joined by Dennis Kneale, a former FOX Business and CNBC Anchor and the current Host of the "What's Bugging Me" podcast. They discuss his new book titled, "The Leadership Genius of Elon Musk" and more. In hour 2, Sue hosts, "Sue's News" where she discusses the latest trending entertainment news, this day in history, the random fact of the day, and more. Mark is then joined by Paul Mauro, a Fox News Contributor, a Retired NYPD Inspector, attorney, and the founder of the OpsDesk.org. They discuss Elon Musk's work with DOGE to expose how the government is spending taxpayers money and more. Mark and Sue later discuss a recent story that explains how a high school student used AI to graduate from high school without knowing how to read. In hour 3, Mark is joined by Scott Jennings, a 97.1 Political Insider and CNN Political Contributor. They discuss the work that DOGE is doing as well as the outrage that Elon Musk is causing from Democrats, Trump's cabinet continuing to get confirmed, and more. Mark is then joined by Neil Gellman with the Gellman Team to discuss the local market for home buyers and sellers. They wrap up the show with the audio cut of the day.
I'm thrilled to be joined by the brilliant Dr. Warren Kinghorn, a renowned psychiatrist and theologian from Duke University. In this must-listen episode, Dr. Kinghorn bridges the gap between faith and mental health. We dive into a universal struggle we all face but rarely discuss and explore how the church can better support our emotional well-being. Timestamps: (1:07) - The Core Elements of a Flourishing Life (4:59) - Common Obstacles That Keep Us from Truly Flourishing (11:44) - That One Mental or Emotional Burden We All Carry but Rarely Talk About (16:56) - The Biggest Blind Spot Churches Have in Supporting Mental Health (19:43) - Signs It's Time to Get Professional Help (23:36) - Warren's Top Recommendations Warren's Recommendations A song Warren is loving is from the album Sanctuary Songs - Centering Prayer. The key theme is being where your feet are. The capacity to just be. He's trying to step into that. The TV show Warren is watching right now is Ted Lasso. It's been so much fun to watch it. The complexity of the characters and the focus to know how to love people for who they are really is encouraging. One book that Warren describes as rich is Christ on the Psych Ward by David Finnegan-Hosey. It's a beautiful book about his own experience. Another faith and mental health book Warren recommends is Dust in the Blood by Jessica Coblenz. She writes about how we can draw from Biblical examples of being in the wilderness. For most American Christians—persecution is the exception and not the rule— so Jesus' words are a reality check. They are a reminder that this world is not our home. And that, perhaps, we should be less focused on maintaining our rights and privileges, and more focused on praying for those around us who are enduring

Peace doesn't just happen; Kingdom citizens are called to make peace. Our focus is not on having a peaceful personality but on the action of peacemaking. The blessed ones are the children of God who reflect the peace of their heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:9)
Sincerity with God and others... Cleansing, not of our own deeds, but through the blood of Christ... Transformation, as we cooperate with His plan and purpose for us. These are the keys to the blessed pure heart that will allow us to one day fully see God. (Matthew 5:8)
True mercy, received by the merciful, does not happen by chance or accident. It is a certainty; a spiritual principle of The Kingdom of Christ, established by the one true God. But, if we're honest, we sometimes struggle with extending mercy. (Matthew 5:7)
Guest speaker Matt Shively shares an inspiring personal perspective on hungering & thirsting for spiritual truth while overcoming the difficulties this life often brings. (Matthew 5:6)
Sterling Bennett reacts to day three of San Francisco 49ers Training Camp including Brock Purdy showing hints of Drew Brees, Jacob Cowing flashing while Aiyuk and Pearsall remain absent, and an interesting offensive line rotation. Kingdom citizens are called to be faithful and reliable, to live with strength under control, and in full acceptance of our LORD and His plans and purposes. As we do, we will experience true blessedness... the divine joy and spiritual reality of our inheritance in God's Kingdom. (Matthew 5:5)
Who wants to mourn? I don't want to mourn; I want to be happy. Strangely, Jesus says these two emotions are related. How can that make sense? In order to respond to what Jesus means here, we need to understand three truths about mourning. (Matthew 5:4)
A Chinese report shows that coral reefs and marine life are flourishing around the Huangyan Dao area in the South China Sea (01:09). Intelligence chiefs from Egypt, the U.S., and Israel are meeting in Doha to discuss a ceasefire in the Gaza conflict (16:48). And despite U.S. sanctions, tourists are returning to Venezuela in large numbers, boosting the battered South American economy (19:48).
Jesus teaches that, when it comes to the spiritual realm, the kingdom life -- it is better to have less than more. In the economy of the Kingdom of Heaven... less is more. To those of us who have lived most of our lives in prosperity, this is strange math; and it was pretty strange

Moving from internal thought leadership to being a solo act means having to take on a lot of new roles. Marketing, research, and publishing all fall on your shoulders now. Are you prepared? Today our guest is Dan Pontefract, who, after a long prosperous career at companies like Telus, struck out on his own as a leadership strategist, change expert, keynote speaker, and award-winning author. His fifth book Work-Life Bloom: How to Nurture a Team that Flourishes will be released in November of 2023. Dan shares his journey from working at Telus as Chief Learning Officer, using the company as a lab with the ability to real-time test ideas to teaching the models he helped create internally, to external companies guiding others through leadership development and culture change. As an author much has changed over the ten years since his first book was published. Dan shares his experience both with untrustworthy and fantastic partners in publishing. In addition, he explains why you should be ready to market the book yourself, the big differences between self, hybrid, and traditional publishing! If you are just getting started or about to break out from corporate thought leadership, Dan provides valuable advice for thought leaders at any stage! Three Key Takeaways: · When doing market research look at others in your sphere at your level. Then look at those above you and determine what sets them apart. What can you learn from what they are doing? · Be continually and continuously adding to your body of work. · Thought leadership can take a product that might not land you a meeting, and open the door to a more interesting conversation.

Work-life balance. Employee engagement. Bring your best, most authentic selves to work. Dan Pontefract believes these are myths. He joins Kevin to redefine the relationship between work and life. Employees possess one of four work-life personas (blooming, budding, stunted, or renewal) and it's a leader's responsibility to understand which persona their team members possess. He also highlights the six work factors and six life factors that leaders should consider creating a supportive environment for their team members.
