We're still flying high after another dominant Seahawks victory over the Arizona Cardinals. It's not just the win -- but how they were able to do it. Tyrice Knight, Ty Okada, Nehemiah Pritchett and Drake Thomas weren't guys we were expecting big contributions from at the beginning of the season, and now they're a big reason to be excited about the defense. With the Rams game coming up on Sunday, it will be the biggest test yet for the Seahawks. Ernest Jones and Cooper Kupp get to face off against their former team, but it may also be a revenge game for Sam Darnold based on how last season went for our quarterback. A lot has been made this week about how the Rams are using "heavy" personnel packages with their tight ends. Is it even that big of a deal? In the second half of the show we talk about a fictional offseason trade scenario between the Seahawks and Browns and one major reason why Myles Garrett shouldn't be a coveted trade candidate. Maintaining appliances and a new term showing up in sports are discussed in the Do Better segment. Lastly, stick around to find out why the Arizona Cardinals and a key part of the Earth's atmosphere are "Better at Life." Join our Sea Hawkers Podcast Pickem League - free prizes for weekly winners. RUNDOWN Mitch solves last week's "mafia lookalike" mystery — listeners decide he's a dead ringer for The Sopranos' Michael Imperioli. The guys riff through Goodfellas lore, Seahawks' second straight blowout win, and Von Miller's hilarious regret about choosing Washington over Seattle ("it's like turning down a girl who became a movie star"). Heartfelt condolences to the family of Lenny Wilkens, celebrating the Hall of Famer's legacy as both player and coach — and his decades as the Pacific Northwest's ultimate basketball statesman. Then it's back to football as the guys revel in another stress-free Seahawks blowout, highlighted by two identical sack-fumble touchdowns from Tyrese Knight and DeMarcus Lawrence. Mitch welcomes back Brady Henderson and Jacson Bevens for another Seahawks No-Table after a 44-22 dismantling of the Cardinals. The crew marvels at a team that suddenly looks like a legitimate Super Bowl contender, while debating the sloppy second half and the emerging run-game breakthrough. They dig into injury updates on Ernest Jones, and Jarran Reed, the trade for Rashid Shaheed, and the defense's uncanny "next-man-up" magic under Mike Macdonald. Mitch reconnects with Rick Neuheisel, presented by Taco Time Northwest, to unpack a wild week in college football — starting with Washington's shocking collapse in Madison. Rick calls it a "disaster," offers perspective on Jed Fisch's road woes, and shares how leadership, not logistics, separates winners from whiners. From there, the conversation races across the national landscape: Penn State's heartbreak at Happy Valley, Texas Tech's oil-fueled rise, and which Group of Five team might crash the playoff. Then Neuheisel dives into Lincoln Riley's number-swap trickery — calling it "legal but unethical" — before handing out Taco Time honors. Mitch reconvenes the Seattle Kraken No-Table with RJ Eskanos and Dylan Travers of Emerald City Hockey for the team's first check-in of the season. Despite a solid early record and a near-top Pacific Division standing, the panel wonders how sustainable it really is. RJ notes that the offense remains among the league's weakest, while Dylan credits new head coach Lane Lambert for installing a defense-first system that maximizes effort and structure. Headlines and 12th man news with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) Gregg shares his thoughts on the passing of Lenny Wilkens. The Seahawks 1st half was total domination yesterday. What did we see from this defense yesterday? It was run-heavy for the offense, but there were some sloppy moments for Sam Darnold and the offense. Injury updates and more! :30- The Dawgs blew it in Madison. The weather was awful, but UW can't blame it for the loss. They were incapable of getting anything going and gave the Badgers their first conference win. :35- We had an awful week in fact or fiction, but luckily Chuck is the only one who got a pick right last week and he's starting us off this morning! :45- We have missed hearing from Mike MacDonald! The Seattle Seahawks cruised to a 38-14 victory over the Washington Commanders in front of a national audience on Sunday night. The gruesome injury late in the game to Jayden Daniels soured the win and we hope Ernest Jones and Josh Jobe come out of the game ok for our Seahawks. Sam Darnold was on point for Seattle and Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued to dominate, supported by a well-balanced offense orchestrated by Klint Kubiak. The defense stifled Washington's offense and controlled the game from start to finish. Mike Macdonald made the right call on defense with Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe getting the start and Nick Emmanwori demonstrating why he should never be on the bench. Without Cooper Kupp on the field, Tory Horton hauled in a couple touchdowns to make his case for future WR2 on the team and Cody White jumped up from the practice squad to add a long touchdown of his own. The Washington Commanders (3-5) get Jayden Daniels back officially and take on the Seattle Seahawks (5-2), fresh off a bye, on Sunday Night Football. Both teams will be wearing their throwback uniforms. We touch on the All-22 Review vs Kansas City to begin the episode. What went well? What could've been better? KDot highlights the younger guys playing on defense, specifically Jordan Magee and Tyler Owens. We begin, as we always do, with the injury report for the game. The Commanders injury report sees Terry McLaurin out once again, but the rest of the team looks good to go, with Laremy Tunsil and Johnny Newton appearing good to go, and Deebo Samuel not even being listed on the injury report. On the other side, Seattle are largely healthy, with only Julian Love likely to miss the game. The Commanders offense, featuring Jayden Daniels once again, take on a tremendously disciplined and fast Seahawks defense that has been difficult for opponents to break down this season. They are #1 against the run, but running backs do get targets out of the backfield against this team. Amit suggests Deebo Samuel play as a wingback and be used as an RB now and then to exploit this opportunity. Names to look out for with the Seahawks defense include Ernest Jones, Uchenna Nwosu, Devon Witherspoon, Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy. The Commanders defense goes against Sam Darnold and this explosive passing attack that the Seahawks possess. WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba leads the NFL in receiving yards and is an explosive player each time he touches the ball. The Seahawks commit to running the ball to sustain drives and slow the game down. The Commanders are home underdogs by 3 points and the over-under is 48.5 points. RUNDOWN In the aftermath of the Mariners' heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Blue Jays, Mitch Levy and guest co-host Danny O'Neil of The Dang Apostrophe open Episode 355 with Danny confessing that he's “pretty mad,” venting at an online heckler named Tad Piland while Mitch directs his anger toward the Fox broadcast crew for comparing Toronto fans' “long wait” to Seattle's five decades of heartbreak. The conversation pivots to the Seahawks, whose 27-19 win over Houston somehow feels more lucky than convincing. Danny rails against red-zone play-calling and Cooper Kupp's gadget-pass interception, while Mitch notes that at 5-2, Seattle still looks like a playoff team in a vulnerable NFC. In the season's final Mariners No-Table, Mitch is joined by Brady Farkas (Refuse to Lose Podcast) and Joe Doyle (Over Slot) to dissect Seattle's crushing Game 7 loss to the Blue Jays in the ALCS. The trio reflect on the gut-wrenching ending, the broadcast's “Toronto sympathy” narrative, and the irony of yet another near-miss season for long-suffering Mariners fans. Both guests try to balance heartbreak with appreciation for an unforgettable year that included Cal Raleigh's historic 60-homer season, Brian Woo's rise to ace status, and J.P. Crawford's clutch moments. The crew breaks down Seattle's Monday Night Football win over Houston — a game defined by the defense and marred by offensive miscues. Brady and Jacson praise Ernest Jones and Drake Thomas for anchoring a top-five-level unit that pressured C.J. Stroud all night, holding Texans running backs to just 31 yards. On offense, Sam Darnold's four turnovers and a baffling Cooper Kupp trick-play interception left points on the field, but Jackson Smith-Njigba's 123-yard night and a late show of maturity salvaged it. CBS analyst Rick Neuheisel, presented by Taco Time Northwest, returns to unpack a chaotic Week 8 — from Indiana's Kurt Signetti leading the Hoosiers to No. 2 in the nation to Clark Lea's Vanderbilt stunning LSU. Rick tells the underdog stories of the year: two former football “afterthoughts” now crashing the playoff picture.

Headlines and 12th Man News with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) It's Thursday Night football this week, so we start looking ahead to the Hawks matchup with the Cardinals. Weird things happen when the Hawks play in Arizona. How important is this game for the Seahawks and how important is it to avoid an 0-2 start in the division? Injury update time: Devon Witherspoon, Nick Emmanwori, Julian Love & Zach Charbonnet were all held out on Sunday- will they be ready to go in two days? :30- With 6 games to go in the regular season, the Mariners host the Rockies starting tonight, so we preview the matchup! :45- There was a mysterious play in Sunday's Seahawks/Saints game and we are baffled! GENE STERATORE (CBS Rules Analyst) - There was a mystery penalty called on Ernest Jones on Sunday, but suddenly, it was like nothing happened and play resumed without the penalty. Did we enter a time warp or is there a logical explanation? - What is going on with enforcing the tush push? - What separates one taunting call from another and how can the refs get more consistent? - Patrick Mahomes was helped up by a ref and people freaked out, turns out it happens all the time! :30- ABCs of the Mariners - M is for Magic Number: we came out of the Houston series and the magic number is suddenly low and very real! 3 is the Magic Number to win the AL West and we could be celebrating a few times this week! - N is for No Names: the Mariners host the Colorado Rockies starting tonight and it shouldn't be much of a competition with their roster, so to all those fans constantly saying the Mariners suck, try being a Rockies fan. - O is for Omit: Should the team just omit Bryan Woo from pitching on Thursday and give him extra rest? :45- The big topic coming out of Apple Cup has been the last score by the Dawgs when the game was already firmly in hand. Do we agree with what Jedd did and does Jedd care?

Joan Riviere (1883-1962) is best known for her role in promoting the ideas of others. She came to prominence in the world of psychoanalysis as Freud's favorite translator and Melanie Klein's earliest and most loyal supporter. In her new book The Life and Work of Joan Riviere: Freud, Klein and Female Sexuality (Routledge, 2018), Marion Bower puts Joan Riviere herself, the woman and the psychoanalyst, in the spotlight. She shows how Riviere made use of the latest psychoanalytic ideas in a highly creative and original way, expressing herself with clarity and emotional depth in seminal works about the inner life of female sexuality and treatment impasses. She was able to draw from a lifetime of challenging and fruitful experiences. After a childhood rife with emotional neglect, she stepped into the rich ferment of the dying Victorian era and came in touch with major progressive forces of the time like the suffragettes and the Society for Psychical Research. As a dressmaker's apprentice, she was among the first wave of women entering the work force. When the shifting soil of her childhood proved unstable, she entered analysis with Ernest Jones and, after becoming an analyst, with Freud himself. This personal connection proved fortuitous to the newly formed British Psychoanalytic Society, as it provided a solid anchor against the dividing drift between Anna Freud and Melanie Klein. Bower paints an intimate portrait of a woman with a stern and sometimes vitriolic public persona and a shy and fragile personality that was saved by her involvement in psychoanalysis. In her best moments she was able to bridge that gap in her psychoanalytic writing, revealing herself through her theoretical musings. Marion Bower has trained as a teacher, social worker and psychoanalytic psychotherapist. She has worked for many years in the child mental health services, including the Tavistock Clinic, and has edited and co-edited four books on various applications of psychoanalysis. She is currently co-editing a book on sexual exploitation. Sebastian Thrul is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in training in Germany and Switzerland. He can be reached at sebastian.thrul@gmx.de. As the Seattle Seahawks wrap up their first week of OTAs, it's notable how excited Seahawks fans are about the 2025 team. In this week's show, we pull some of our favorite quotes from press conferences from Abe Lucas, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Sam Darnold and Ernest Jones. It was one quote in particular from Abe Lucas that has Adam really excited for the upcoming season and why our show has now anointed him as the Seahawks offensive ambassador. The message of the Seahawks using a fullback came through loud and clear via Abe as well as Sam Darnold. Klint Kubiak has taken note of Jalen Milroe's worth ethic and the early hours he's coming into the facility to work. On the defensive side, coordinator Aden Durde talked about what it has meant for the team to have everyone on board for the voluntary portion of OTAs. But how important is it really? We're somewhat conflicted on the importance. We do note the importance of having a pair of linebackers who are in sync with each other. Ernest Jones talked about just how important Tyrice Knight has been in his own development, and how they've been improving their relationship in the offseason. In the second half of the show, Sam Darnold reveals how good (or bad) of a golfer he is. It's the first time in the history of the show that we'll have a starting quarterback who seems to golf regularly. Lumen Field is getting nearly 20 million in upgrades next offseason for the World Cup, but it sounds like only one of the improvements will actually benefit a small portion of Seahawks fans. The audio equipment company Rode is highlighted in the Do Better segment along with organization highlighting mock draft content for 2026. Better at life honors go out to the Steelers organization (for maybe the only time) and to our Seahawks for highlighting its 50th Season game for the upcoming year.
