In Folge 304 des Ballhawks-Podcast, werfen Henri und Jonas einen Blick auf die neue Seahawks-Defense unter Mike Macdonald.
It was a hell of a start to the Mike Macdonald regime. His defense came out in their first action and completely stifled the Chargers the offense. Sam Howell was steady in his first start as a Seahawk, and the ground game was working as the Seahawks easily took care of the Los Angeles Chargers 16-3 in the first preseason game of the year. The Seattle Seahawks kicked off their preseason with a bang, securing a 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Winning is better than losing (even in the preseason), especially when it comes with such a dominant defensive performance. Special teams also had their moments in the spotlight. Michael Dickson was in mid-season form, delivering some impressive punts, including one that pinned the Chargers down at their own two-yard line. On the offensive side, Sam Howell took the reins for the first half and part of the second, completing 16 of 27 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. The running game saw Kenny McIntosh and George Holani competing for the third-string job, with McIntosh finishing with eight carries for 40 yards and Holani six carries for 24 yards. We also get into the performances on defense, as rookies D.J. James and Byron Murphy had standout plays for the Seahawks. Support the show Get in the Flock! The Seattle Seahawks hired Mike Macdonald to replace legendary head coach Pete Carroll this offseason in large part to fix the defense. On a sunny day at Lumen Field today, the Hawks defense showed a dominant side in mostly holding Seattle's offense at bay in their formal mock scrimmage. Several young players stood out on both sides of the ball, and I was there to witness it. In this livestream, I share my immediate thoughts on what I saw, and what it all might mean. -Intro-Seahawks defense ate Daniel Jones alive-Things couldn't have gone much worse for Daniel Jones & Giants offense-Geno Smith left with a knee injury in 2nd qtr; returned in 2nd halfDrew Lock took over when Geno was out
The Seattle Seahawks had 11 sacks on Daniel Jones on their way to a 24-3 victory at Lumen Field east. The win didn't come without a cost though. Geno Smith, Jamal Adams, Jarren Reed, Phil Haynes, and Damien Lewis all had to leave the game due to injuries. However, we were treated to an electric performance by Devon Witherspoon. His interception return made it so the Seahawks defense could finally earn a red zone stop on the year.
