Brit Nicole found herself leaving an abusive marriage with nothing. No money. No backup plan. Just herself, my dog, and the belief that she could build something — anything — from scratch. Tell me what challenges you have confronted and how, despite it you created a thriving business? What does "being happy without an agenda" mean to you? What are the similarities and differences between overcoming an abusive husband and being betrayed in business? How do you overcome people who project their own fears onto you because it's not something they would do? Brit Nicole Brit Nicole found herself leaving an abusive marriage with nothing. No money. No backup plan. Just herself, my dog, and the belief that she could build something — anything — from scratch. Brit remembers sitting in the quiet of that season, no clients, no certainty, just a journal full of prayers and the fire to figure it out. She told herself right then that she wasn't going to spend her life building someone else's dream. If she was capable of working that hard for the wrong people, she was going to work that hard for herself. Brit identified a market gap that nobody else saw in the early 2010s. Digital marketing wasn't even on the radar in her city, so she flew to New York to learn directly from established agencies. She returned with knowledge that didn't exist locally, secured a loan with her dad's help, and installed digital TVs throughout town and the mall. Brit built, scaled and sold that by the age of 22. Brit is interested in helping women create what they actually want. Excellent Executive Coaching Podcast If you have enjoyed this episode, subscribe to our podcast on iTunes. Send us a textWhat happens when the government decides it needs your land? Does the Constitution really allow officials to seize your family home, farm, or business property against your will? The answer might disturb you.Attorney Clint Schumacher, a leading eminent domain expert, joins us to unravel the complex world where constitutional rights, property ownership, and government power collide. Schumacher pulls back the curtain on a legal process that affects countless Americans but remains widely misunderstood. We explore the landmark Kelo v. City of New London case that dramatically expanded government's ability to take private property, allowing cities to seize homes for economic development rather than traditional public uses like roads or schools. This controversial Supreme Court decision sparked nationwide outrage and legislative reforms, yet many property owners remain vulnerable. The conversation takes a deeply human turn as Schumacher describes families losing properties held for generations – land that forms part of their identity, not just their assets. We examine the Henry family farm in New Jersey, owned by the same family for 175 years, now threatened by condemnation for affordable housing. This poignant example highlights how even worthy public goals create profound private sacrifices. We also demystify the compensation process, revealing the often significant gap between government appraisals and true property value. Schumacher explains why property owners frequently feel shortchanged even when receiving "just compensation," especially when forced to pay their own legal fees from their settlement amounts.Whether you're a property owner concerned about your rights or simply want to understand this fascinating intersection of law, economics, and human dignity, this episode provides crucial insights into a power that Schumacher calls "a necessary evil." Despite its importance for infrastructure development, nothing government does to innocent citizens feels more invasive than taking their property against their will.Have questions about your legal rights? Contact us at producer@evenlegal.com. And while we sound smart and lovable, remember: we're not your lawyers, and this isn't legal advice! Our Guest: Clint SchumacherClint Schumacher focuses his litigation practice on eminent domain and government taking litigation. Clint has represented property owners of all sizes that are being impacted by public projects. Before joining his present firm, Dawson & Sodd, Clint represented regional toll authorities and mass-transit authorities in some of the largest projects in north Texas. Clint's dedication to excellence has led to him receiving the designation of Counselor of Real Estate, as well as that of Texas Super Lawyer in Eminent Domain by Texas Lawyer magazine in 2014-25. He has also been recognized by D Magazine as one of the top lawyers in Dallas.  In 2021, Clint released a book on resiliency called Second Wind: Decisions the Resilient Make to Overcome Adversity. Clint is married to his college sweetheart, Jennifer, and they have three boys. Clint is also a dedicated football coach, having coached at Trinity Christian Academy (2016–2025) and Dallas Bills (2009-2017). Michael Russell seemingly had it all - a successful family real estate business, every afforded opportunity, a happy and healthy family.  Unfortunately, his excessive lifestyle led to divorce, foreclosures, short sales, bankruptcies and shame. It took the better part of a decade to fully turn it all around.  Those years in financial ruin felt like they would never end, it didn't just take time to rebuild, it also took a complete change in how he thought and acted. The rebuilding didn't really begin until the 7 year timeframe since discharge from bankruptcy had passed.  Filing bankruptcy felt like the only option at the time, but in hindsight and through the benefit of knowledge, there were many other paths that could have remedied his issues.  Once that very slow period of becoming financeable began, he looked at relationships with banks from a much wiser position.  As a result of filing bankruptcy, the full turn around took about 9 years to take hold and become something of a solid baseline to rebuild from. Since that time, he has redefined his career in real estate sales, investments and consulting; maintained what is close to a perfect credit rating and mended the relational struggles that came as a result of all the financial turmoil. Most rewarding in this process has been the mending of the relationships that became so torn as a result of all the struggle.Coming in a close second is the advising of others who find themselves in similar positions of uncertainty and financial distress – in exchange for nothing but a testimonial and a handshake agreement that should the property owner ever wish to sell, Michael is the person they trust to help them.Through simply paying it forward, Michael's preference is to help people avoid foreclosure, avoid bankruptcy AND remain in their home; this is the trifecta of perfection. With accountability, action and effort this trifecta is possible about 50% of the time. Michael is also the President/Owner of Century 21 Signature Properties, one of the original CENTURY 21 franchises in the country.  About 40% of the time, selling the property proves to be the only way to avoid foreclosure, Mike and CENTURY 21 have helped thousands of people do just that. In our podcast, Mike shares how he overcomes his struggles and how to overcome adversity and why those facing foreclosure should be taking every measure necessary to avoid being foreclosed on.  You Can Find Mike @: Website: https://hope4hardship.org/

Meet Patty Bio After gaining and losing 50 to 75 pounds every two years or so since my teens, I decided I needed professional help. In 2005, at the age of 38, I started working with a therapist that specialized in eating disorders, trauma and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She thought my issues with food and weight were a symptom of a much deeper issue: my childhood sexual abuse. I was sexually abused by family members until I was 10. For much of my life I would have chosen death before revealing that, so deep was my shame. But I was desperate to find love and believed resolving my weight was key. So began the next 12 years of my life working with my therapist using EMDR, a chiropractor to release trapped fight or flight responses, a sex therapist and group therapy for sexual abuse. I accomplished what I desperately hoped was possible but feared was not. Getting there required tremendous effort, the suspension of doubt, and a steadfast belief that it was possible. I'm rooting for you.   https://www.pattycabot.com/about
