Deze Belgische topper speelt zijn muziek van Zuid-Amerika tot Belgische sterrenrestaurants en van Oost-Europa tot Japan. Als vakhoofd van de schrijfopleiding van het RITCS, speelt Rik D'Hiet een onmiskenbare rol in de vorming van de 'scenaristen van morgen'. Maar naast een langlopende carrière als docent en coach, heeft hij natuurlijk ook tonnen ervaring als scenarist. Want docent en vakhoofd wordt je niet zo maar. 'Recht op recht', 'Flikken', 'De Ridder', het zijn maar enkele van de fictieseries op zijn resumé. Ergens bij Rik thuis zal je ook een Ensor beeldje kunnen vinden voor de prijs van beste scenario. Die ontving hij in 2013 samen met regisseur Stijn Coninx voor de langspeler 'Marina', over het leven van zanger Rocco Granata. We mochten Rik in onze studio ontvangen, waar we het hadden over zijn werk in de raad van bestuur, van zowel De Scenaristengilde als De Auteurs en over de toekomstige generatie van scenaristen en hun verhalen.

Og svo sagði hún frá heimsókn sinni í safnið í Auscwitz. Rocco Granata wurde mit "Marina" zum Schlagerstar. Frau Hauser hat den Welthit oft mitgesungen, als sie noch nicht dement war - jetzt will Granata keine Interviews mehr geben, sich nicht erinnern. Frau Hauser kann sich auch nicht mehr erinnern. Joseph Berlinger hat versucht sich beiden anzunähern - eine Doku über große Fragen des Lebens. Was macht es mit uns, wenn wir uns nicht mehr erinnern?

Hace apenas una semana recibíamos la triste noticia del deceso de la artista Argentina "Coral" Giménez Garcia. Nacida en León el 19 de enero de 1936 y fallecida en una residencia de ancianos en Valldoreix (Barcelona) el 20 de mayo de 2023. Cantante gitana de rumbas, fandangos, tanguillos y bulerías. Su carrera musical editada en disco se circunscribe a poco más de catorce años, entre 1961 y 1975, en los que publica no menos de 34 singles (EPs en su mayoría) y los consecuentes LPs reuniendo sus canciones. Como es costumbre, al único programa nacional pendiente de la actualidad rumbera, Achilitime, hoy le toca despedirse de otra rumbera que nos deja, en forma de repaso y homenaje a su carrera. Pionera del género junto a Dolores Vargas (de quien versionó su hit Achilipú), Lola Flores o la Marelu, Argentina Coral llegó en los años 60 a Barcelona contratada por Discos Belter y fijó su residencia en la ciudad hasta el final de sus días. El legado de Argentina Coral es un gran puñado de tanguillos y bulerías (en la primera mitad del programa suenan más de diez) y rumbas gitanas con poca instrumentación que dejan testimonio de sus virtudes vocales. Su primer trabajo discográfico data del año 1961. Posteriormente fue contratada por Manolo Caracol para el tablao madrileño Los Canasteros. Se la publicitaba como: "Argentina Coral, la gitana de Barcelona". En dicho tablao, interpretaba principalmente temas populares por rumba. En su voz se popularizaron coplas aflamencadas como Los Ojos Negros que Tienes o Yo me la Llevé a una Era, aunque su nombre quedó inmortalizado con la rumba titulada Marina, un tema compuesto por el cantante y acordeonista belga Rocco Granata, que ha sido versionada por multitud de artistas, entre ellos Marino Marini, Dalila e incluso Louis Armstrong. En 1965, Argentina Coral forma parte del espectáculo protagonizado por el Príncipe Gitano, "Palmas flamencas", junto a Gloria Romero. En los años 70 realiza numerosas galas televisivas que compagina con la vuelta teatral, concretamente con el espectáculo "Cantamos a España", junto a Pedrito Rico y Angelillo. En 1971 presenta en televisión el programa "Rumbas flamencas". Poco a poco, y a medida que transcurre la década de los 70, las apariciones de la artista van siendo cada vez más escasas y partir de 1975 se le pierde el rastro. En este programa repasamos por orden de edición algunas de sus versiones y revisiones más populares. Como el Bilongo, también conocido como La Negra Tomasa, o el Bailando Con Pepe que recuerda mucho al Ay Mama, de Peret. Atención a su magnífica versión por rumba del bolero Amor Fugaz que introduce coletilla y coros que se han perpetuado en los repertorios de los gitanos rumberos catalanes: Pom, pim, pam... También versiona el Pena, Tristeza y Dolor que popularizaron Los Amaya y en el que parecen hacer los coros ellos mismos. En fin. Pena tristeza y dolor, larga vida a Argentina Coral.

Soms hebben artiesten een nummer dat je helemaal niet met hen associeert, een nummer dat heel atypisch is voor hen. Vaak is dat nummer dan ook juist hun bekendste, denk maar aan 'Ik hou van u' van Noordkaap. Rocco Granata heeft er ook zo een, Jonny's Theme. Jan Delvaux doet uit de doeken van waar het nummer komt.

New beat kan je omschrijven als trage new wave met vette bassen. Het heeft een aantal maanden heel erg gefloreerd en er was ook even heel wat interesse vanuit het buitenland. Jan Delvaux kijkt in deze aflevering naar de ‘vernewbeatisering' van Belgische klassiekers. Zo werden onder andere 'Marina' van Rocco Granata en 'Oh la la la' van TC Matic in een New Beat jasje gestoken.

In 1965 zingt Louis Neefs 'Wat een leven' door het grote publiek ook vaak 'Als ik ooit eens 5 minuten tijd heb' genoemd. Louis wint er in oktober 1965 Het Vlaamse Schlagerfestival mee in de Koningin Elisabethzaal in Antwerpen. Maar de grote bekendheid komt er wanneer 'Wat een Leven' gebruikt wordt bij een reportage in het TV programma Echo. De muziek illustreert de intussen iconische beelden van arbeiders in Aarschot die op hun dooie gemak aan het werk zijn.

In de twaalfde episode van dit tweede seizoen komt contrabassist, basgitarist én wereldreiziger Christophe Devisscher naar mijn studio voor een goed gesprek over zijn leven on the road, in de studio én in het leslokaal. Als stichtend lid van gerenommeerde jazzcollectieven als Alexi Tuomarila Quartet en Pascal Schumacher Quartet speelde, arrangeerde & componeerde hij zich letterlijk de wereld rond. Als sideman deelde hij internationale podia met jazztoppers als Lee Konitz en Joe Lovano. En hier in België rekenden zangers als Johan Verminnen, Stef Bos en Rocco Granata ook al op dit betrouwbare werkpaard! Tot slot speelt hij live zijn 'famous last notes' met het diepste respect voor zijn grote voorbeeld Ray Brown. Dit alles vergezeld van een fris glas Cécémel Dark on the rocks - het moet niet altijd de topwijn van VITIS.VIN zijn, nietwaar?

In August 2014, 22-year-old Christy Mack and her friend Corey Thomas were abruptly awoken in the middle of the night by Christy's ex-boyfriend, an MMA fighter named War Machine.   What followed was a brutal attack that would land both of them in the hospital with severe injuries, and cause War Machine to go on the run.
