I spent a lot of my life in the Middle East and Central Asia, working closely with foreign contractors and foreign governments to provide support to American military operations. As a US Army officer with a big checkbook courtesy of Uncle Sam, I can't really count the sheer number of times I was offered bribes to award a contract, or falsify records to do things like create larger (fake) headcounts at places like dining facilities, or to just simply be on the take for future illegal requests. Of course I had enough sense to never comply with such requests. You have to go deep in the weeds to see it but if you understand the details of the events, the information being revealed by Brennan's lawyers is the opposite of helpful to his case.  As an example, there is a citation included in a footnote of the December 22, 2025, [fn #20 page 6] letter that links to a March 31, 2022, letter sent to John Durham. Here's page 6 of the 2025 letter. Compare the underlined section to the 2022 letter sent to John Durham. In 2025 Brennan is telling the Florida court the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) conclusion was confirmed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller in a “very serious review.”  However, in 2022 Brennan told John Durham that Robert Mueller never interviewed him or offered an assessment of the ICA; Mueller just regurgitated it. So, which is it? These contradictions are throughout both of the letters when you compare them side-by-side.  In 2022 former CIA Director John Brennan was trying to escape the Durham review.  In 2025 Brennan is trying to escape a grand jury review. Michal Schönbauer odvážne pustili do výroby šumivých vín, prvej v Európe mimo vlastného Francúzska, ktoré je považované za kolísku šampanského. Dnešným slovníkom by sme ich priekopnícky podnik nazvali úspešným startupovým príbehom, veď napokon už v 30. rokoch sa ich vína pod označením Fischer-Schönbauer ocitali na stoloch najváženejších rodín nielen v starom Prešporku, ale aj vo Viedni a v Pešti. Ešte väčšmi sa pod tento podnikateľský úspech podpísalo meno Pavlíny Hubertovej a jej syna Henrika Huberta, ktorí bratislavský klenot doviedli azda k najväčšej sláve, korunovanej celým radom prestížnych ocenení. Aj napriek turbulenciám, ktoré prinieslo do histórie tejto firmy dramatické 20. storočie, tradícia, chvalabohu, pretrvala a bez Huberta si hádam ani nevieme predstaviť silvestrovské oslavy či dôležité životné jubileá. Skrátka, s bublinkami radi spojíme i našu radosť a náš úspech. Ktoré z nich nás tento rok najviac prekvapili – a ako je to vlastne so sobom Rudolfom a jeho svietiacim nosom? Aj týmto témam sa venoval vianočno-silvestrovský špeciál fact-checkerov. Veronika Jursová Prachárová v ňom diskutovala so šéfkou Demagóg.sk Veronikou Frankovskou a s analytikmi Demagóg.sk Palom Lackom a Palom Valíkom.Veronika Frankovská pri bilancovaní roka pripomenula, že na Slovensku prebehli masové protesty, ktoré premiér Robert Fico spájal s údajnou organizáciou zo strany Gruzínskej národnej légie na čele s Mamukom Mamulašvilim. „Neskôr sa však ukázalo, že tieto obavy neboli ničím podložené. Neexistovali žiadne vyšetrovania, ktoré by ich potvrdzovali, a pán Mamulašvili nemal ani žiadne sankcie, napríklad zákaz vstupu do schengenského priestoru,“ doplnila Frankovská.Analytika Pala Lacka znovu prekvapilo, že sa Demagóg.sk musí venovať témam, ktoré sú z hľadiska vedeckého poznania dávno vyriešené. „Napríklad otázkam, či žijeme klimatickú krízu – čo je dnes úplne zrejmé – alebo či je očkovanie bezpečné a účinné. Vieme, že nespôsobuje autizmus a pomohlo odstrániť alebo výrazne obmedziť množstvo civilizačných chorôb. Aj tak si niekedy kladiem otázku, prečo sa stále vraciame k týmto témam, namiesto toho, aby sme sa venovali niečomu inému,“ uviedol.Analytik Palo Valík zas za najbizarnejšie považuje dezinformácie, ktoré sa pravidelne týkajú Európskej únie a hovoria o vymyslených zákazoch či príkazoch. „Objavila sa napríklad dezinformácia, že Európska únia chce zakázať toaletný papier alebo prinútiť deti piť takzvané švábie mlieko. Tento rok sme sa stretli aj s tvrdením, že EÚ chce v rámci Zelenej agendy obmedziť veľkosť tanierov na 21 centimetrov – aj toto sa nám podarilo vyvrátiť,“ dodal Valík.

Neustála polarizácia, šírenie lží a demagógie a živenie strachu - dokonca i voči niečomu takému, ako je veda či progres. No a do toho postupný, no čoraz viditeľnejší úpadok štátu a všetkého toho, čo tento štát môže a aj má pre občanov robiť.Havarujúce vlaky, padajúce mosty, nedostavané diaľnice, charitatívne zbierky na život zachraňujúce lieky, zhoršujúce sa výsledky školákov, čoraz masovejší útek mladých mozgov do zahraničia, zdravotnícke služby za stále viac narastajúce poplatky, rozklad ochrany prírody i kultúrnej sféry.No a do toho všetkého čoraz vyššie dane, odvody a tri mnohomiliardové vládne konsolidácie bez prakticky akéhokoľvek zmysluplného výsledku ako i prepad našej krajiny prakticky vo všetkých merateľných parametroch na samých chvost Európskej únie.I tak vyzerá obraz Slovenska na sklonku roka 2025. Štátu postavenom na parlamentnej demokracií. Je však toto ešte demokracia alebo sa to už skôr blíži k tomu, čomu sa hovorí ochlokracia či dokonca kakistokracia, teda vláda toho najhoršieho? Vládne tu ešte rozum alebo nás už opanovali vášne, klanová mentalita a bezohľadné sebectvo na úkor spoločenstva, v ktorom žijeme?Aký príbeh si teda dnes Slovensko vlastne píše? Vieme si to vôbec zadefinovať a chceme aby tento malý kúsok zeme, ktorý voláme našim domovom, mal aj nejakú vyššiu ideu a zmysel?Sedliak je od slova sedieť, teda je to o tom, vysedieť problém, nevšímať si ho, prikrčiť sa a azda ho i nejako prežiť. 2025-12-16 | UPDATES #080 | A post on X caught my eye, the gist of which was “Only a Russian official can invade and bomb you while simultaneously calling themselves a peacemaker and the victim a warmonger.” The author is referring to Kiril Dmitriev, one of the key so-called ‘negotiators' from the Russian side, and it highlights the absurdity of trying to build a peace process with the same regime that initiated the aggression and committed untold war crimes in Ukraine. Any such process pre-supposes that the aggressor has seen the error of their ways, in some sense recanted for their mistakes, even if not admitting culpability for the crimes themselves or any contrition. But the reality is so far from this. Russia seems to want a temporary “ceasefire,” because it is exhausted, and needs time to rearm and internalise the lessons of failure – the failure of its military strategy, that is, so it can come back again with greater lethality and success. Év végi mérleg , New York belülről Magyarok Óriási Kalandjai Amerikában ep. 293   Ebben az epizódban Patkós Attilával ketten beszélgetünk arról, milyen New Yorkban élni magyarként, nem turista szemmel, hanem belülről. Ez nem egy „Amerika álom" epizód, és nem is egy panaszkodós műsor. Inkább egy hosszú, őszinte beszélgetés arról, hogy mit ad ez a város, mit vesz el, és miért marad mégis itt az ember.   Szóba kerül minden, ami mostanában foglalkoztatja az itt élőket, és ami az európai, magyar hallgatóknak egyszerre megdöbbentő, vicces és tanulságos.   Beszélünk a New York-i mindennapok abszurditásáról, ahol lassan mindenhez applikáció kell. Parkoláshoz, munkához, közlekedéshez, borravalóhoz, sőt néha már egy pohár kólához is. Megnézzük, hogy ez valódi fejlődés-e, vagy csak túlbonyolított élet.   Előkerül a borravaló-kultúra, ami Amerikában már nem udvariasság, hanem elvárás. Hol a határ a köszönet és a kényszer között, és miért néznek rád furcsán, ha nem nyomsz rá automatikusan a 25–30%-ra.   Hosszabban beszélünk a New York-i munkahelyi kultúráról, az „everyone is amazing" világáról, ahol mindenki kedves, mosolyog, majd egyik napról a másikra eltűnik. Összehasonlítjuk ezt a magyar mentalitással, őszinteséggel, direkt kommunikációval.   Külön blokkot kapnak a lakások, amiket látni kell, hogy elhidd. Konyhában zuhany, hálóban hűtő, kreatívan értelmezett szobák, és horror alaprajzok. Olyan történetek, amiken a magyar hallgatók egyszerre nevetnek és szörnyülködnek.   Beszélünk a biztonságérzetről New Yorkban, a metróról, az utcai jelenetekről, az ICE raid-ekről és arról, hogy mi az, amit kívülről túlreagálnak, és mi az, amit nem vesznek elég komolyan. Nem hírekből, hanem saját tapasztalatból.   Fontos téma a side hustle kultúra is. New Yorkban szinte mindenkinek van második, harmadik élete. Zenész, Uber-sofőr, DJ, csomagkihordó, alkalmi munkák. Szóba kerül, hogy ez szabadság vagy kényszer, és kinek való ez az életforma.   Nagyon emberi rész a barátságok New York módra. Gyors kapcsolódások, még gyorsabb eltűnések. Miért működik ez így egy ekkora városban, és mi hiányzik ebből egy magyar szemének.   Az epizódban kitérünk a zenei életre, zenekarokra, stúdiózásra, jammelésre, arra, hogy miért nem lehet levetkőzni azt, ami igazán belülről hajt. Arról is beszélünk, hogy mikor jön rá az ember, akár 50–60 évesen, hogy mit nem kellett volna abbahagynia.   Szóba kerül a foci és a világbajnokság, a New York-i páholyárak abszurditása, a sport üzleti oldala, és az is, hogyan próbálják az amerikaiak „amerikaisítani" a focit. Innen kanyarodunk vissza a magyar kötődéshez, a magyar tévécsatornákhoz, a honvágyhoz, és ahhoz, mi marad meg az emberben itthonról.   Az epizód egyik fontos gondolata a hiteles információ hiánya. Miért lenne fontos, hogy a külföldre költöző magyarok valós, használható tudást kapjanak bankról, munkáról, lakhatásról, nem legendákat és Facebook-kommenteket.   Ez a beszélgetés nem ad kész válaszokat, de jó kérdéseket igen.
