Fuel Her Awesome: Food Freedom, Body Love, Intuitive Eating & Nutrition Coaching
Welcome to my Summer Throwback Playlist—a handpicked collection of the most downloaded episodes of the podcast. These are listener favorites, packed with insights, laughs, and empowered eating encouragement to keep you fueled all summer long. A quick heads up: since these are throwbacks, you might hear old references to programs or events that are no longer active—but the heart of each episode still hits. Let's dive in and revisit the best of the best! In the very first episode of Fuel Her Awesome, I shared my journey from disordered eating to food freedom. But that wasn't the end of the story. In today's episode, I'm taking you into the next chapter—how I went from simply having food freedom to stepping fully into Empowered Eating. For a long time, I believed I had to choose: Be obsessive about food but feel good in my body or Accept my body fully, but live with a low-grade discomfort I was afraid that focusing on my health would pull me back into obsession, and I honestly didn't know if there was a middle ground. But there is—and this episode is about how I found it, why I made the leap, and how Empowered Eating became the answer I didn't know I needed.

Mel and Suzie dive into a hot-button issue: Is commitment truly over, or are we just living in a dating landscape transformed by choice overload? Mel argues that men are fed up, feeling rejected and left behind as traditional relationships shift, and women are feeling they have more choices than ever before! Suzie believes don't settle; commitment isn't for everyone; there are so many options and choices. With so many options, women are simply raising their standards, and there's no shame in being picky. From dating apps to hookup culture to modern-day relationship expectations, this episode unpacks what's really driving the gap between men and women. The discussion covers mistakes to avoid, strategies to build trust and credibility with donors, and the importance of a strategic plan with a big vision for impact. Emphasizing the high capacity and trust with donors, I explore the significance of having direct conversations when asking for large donations, such as $6 million, and the power of a simple proposal. With personal anecdotes, I stress that generosity is a gift to the giver and that building strong relationships is key to acquiring major funds for impactful projects. This week the Adult Improver Series returns with an extremely insightful guest. Dan Bock is a North Carolina-based software engineer and dad, who finally got serious about chess improvement in 2021. At this time, Dan began to compete frequently, utilize digital flashcards, and make a conscious effort to make friends in the chess world in order to help make his hobby more fulfilling. Dan's results have been rare and inspiring, as he has seen USCF rating rise from the high 1500s to the high 1900s (USCF) in the last 3 years. As Dan explains, while he is very directed in his decisions of how to approach chess study, he does not put in outlandish an number of hours of study per day. He is very focused on what actually decides the outcomes of his own games, and has made constant progress by keeping that as his North Star. I find Dan's story very inspiring and am excited to see his continued progress! Over the past 40 years, Shigeru Miyamoto has been inventing the modern video game one pixel at a time. From Donkey Kong to Super Mario Bros to The Legend of Zelda, Miyamoto turned wonder and exploration into game mechanics, and incorporated his personal experiences into his games. I talk with Illinois Institute of Technology dean Jennifer deWinter and Oakland University professor Sam Srauy about how Miyamoto changed Nintendo, and where his influence can be seen in big budget and indie video games today.
