Gender Euphoria, the podcast, host Nicolas Shannon Savard sits down with actor, writer, consultant, educator Scott Turner Schofield. They trouble the TV/film industry's framing of Schofield as a singular "trans trailblazer," since as he notes, trans actors were, indeed, carving out spaces to make and support one another's art long before we were invited into Hollywood or mainstream theatre spaces. The conversation dives into the shifts that Scott has noticed in audience response to his work over the course of the last twenty years and how those are in direct conversation with national politics.

In this 30-minute tutorial, Dr. Shannon describes a recent DEI mistake she made and takes you through the process on how to recover and respond. Have you ever been called out for a DEI mistake? And what did you do in response to this accusation? No one really teaches this stuff! So in this tutorial, I go through some tools and processes on how to prepare. And then how to take space, listen to the marginalized person speaking to you, and then how to take a bit of time and space to recover. And then come back to be accountable for what you said or did that had such a negative effect on your coworkers, team member, or your boss or employee. Enjoy! The first part describes the situation and sets this up. And the second part gives some practical tools using my 5-step process for speaking success: Breathe, Prepare, Practice, Rehearse, and Perform. I was inspired by Scott Turner Schofield's post to create this tutorial. See you soon!
Maeve DuVally and I had a conversation this week all about what it means to come to terms with who you are and to love yourself We queered this narrative to focus on the process of her coming to know herself as trans mid-life in all stages — she describes it as REBIRTH And the thought, spirit, and emotion that came from different stages of her self-acceptance and eventual outreach I remembered gratitude with Maeve, from this interview That both of our coming out experiences were gifts Starting with Maeve's becoming to who she is, by coming out to herself first And continuing with her commitment to being present and awake when she came out with her sobriety So much so, that she had enough energy and heart to become a mentor to others like her, a speaker, and aspiring author In this show, we follow up on what Scott Turner Schofield mentioned in his episode That trans narratives and experience do not stop at transition In fact that is just the start or adolescence of transness But trans stories should include more on #INTEGRATION and Scott and I had discussed, being trans is also about #selflove for who you are today and who you were before Rather than focusing on only her transition, which is so common in mainstream trans stories of coming out or coming to be Just like I shared in the last show with the PRIDE 2021 Special with the cycle of healing many queer people take With forgiving ourselves and others And being open to making changes so we can come to our authentic selves Hear all about how Maeve came out mid-life within her community Their acceptance of her and how she's thrived as a leader And listen to the intersections between queerness and transness “or the Q in T and the T in Q” As well mid-life coming out and being sober Join Us for EPISODE 10: The Q in T and the T in Q: Queering Coming Out Mid-Life as Trans Maeve DuVally, speaker, activist, aspiring author, and managing director of corporate communications, Goldman Sachs Here is our ANCHOR page to get connected to all of your favorite podcast platforms: https://anchor.fm/diversefolxconverse... No Ordinary Man - Co-director Chase Joynt (Aisling Chin-Yee) In the documentary film No Ordinary Man The legacy of Billy Tipton, a 20th-century American jazz musician and trans icon, is brought to life by a diverse group of contemporary trans artists. Revered jazz musician Billy Tipton — born Dorothy Lucille Tipton — gained fame throughout the United States in the 1940s and ’50s. His trans identity was not known throughout the echelons of the jazz and pop worlds, and it wasn’t revealed publicly until after his death in 1989. For decades, Tipton was portrayed as an ambitious woman “passing” as a man in pursuit of a music career at a time when the industry was dominated by men and trans representation was virtually non-existent. Since then, he has become a foundational icon of trans-masculinity. Co-directors Aisling Chin-Yee and Chase Joynt’s examine the disgraceful media scrutiny and questions of legitimacy his family endured after his death. This thoughtful, timely documentary embraces the challenge of bringing Tipton’s words to life, reimagining his narrative through a diverse group of contemporary trans performers as they collectively paint a portrait of an unlikely hero. NO ORDINARY MAN explores the life and legacy of American jazz musician and trans icon Billy Tipton as told through the eyes of today’s leading voices in the trans community. NO ORDINARY MAN features Marquise Vilsón, Scott Turner Schofield, Susan Stryker, C. Riley Snorton, and Thomas Page McBee, among others. Co-director Chase Joynt (Aisling Chin-Yee) and Writer Amos Mac join us to talk about the life and the times of an artist, husband and father hiding in plain sight and how Billy Tipton’s story informs and imbues today’s trans community.

A monologue about a young transgender man starts a conversation about gender identity. Featuring conversations with three trans and non-binary young people and trans actor and activist Scott Turner Schofield. Read a transcript of this episode. They’re a boy, plain and simple. They don’t understand what it’s like to go through this endless, torturous cycle all because they were born in the wrong body. — from "One Hundred Sleepless Nights" by Hunter M. * * * All across the city and country, from kitchen tables to legislative halls, conversations about gender identity are front and center like never before. It’s a polarizing topic that is often difficult to talk about even for those who are open-minded and want to be supportive. In March 2017, City Council voted unanimously on a resolution to officially declare March 31st Transgender Visibility Day in the City of Philadelphia. Two days later, a different kind of sentiment was made visible when a large bus plastered with anti-transgender language rolled past City Hall. Complicated issues are better understood when people at the heart of the matter are given a chance to speak for themselves. On this episode of Mouthful, we create a space for trans and non-binary voices, including conversations with: Hunter, a high school senior from North Philly, whose award-winning monologue about a trans youth was picked from hundreds of submissions as a winner in the Young Voices Monologue Festival Alex and Dalyla, two powerful young trans advocates from the Attic, Philadelphia’s center for LGBTQ youth, and Scott Turner Schofield, trans actor, activist, and star of Bold and the Beautiful The Conversation Alex Phillips is a senior at Philadelphia's High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Named one of "18 LGBTQ Youth Who Are Changing the World" by GLSEN, Alex worked with the School District of Philadelphia to develop a new policy for transgender and gender diverse students in 2016. Dalyla Baker is an outspoken advocate for the transgender community in Philadelphia. A role model at the Attic, Philadelphia's center for LGBTQ youth, Dalyla performs on stages across Philadelphia as her drag persona Dalyla Mizani. **Scott Turner Schofield **is an artist, actor, and activist. The first openly transgender actor to have a recurring role on daytime television on The Bold and The Beautiful, Scott is paving the way for transgender rights and visibility through performance and education. Connections The Attic Youth Center creates opportunities for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community, and promotes the acceptance of LGBTQ youth in society. The Attic is proud to be Philadelphia's only independent LGBTQ youth center.
