Christ's majesty is revealed by God, not invented by man. Peter saw Jesus' glory on the mountain, and the prophets spoke by the Spirit—not by human ideas. We can trust what Scripture says about Christ. Without Him, life is like walking in darkness. With Him, His light guides us until the day He returns in glory.Support the show

In 2 Peter 1:3–8, Peter makes one of the boldest claims in all of Scripture: God's divine power has already given us everything we need for life and godliness—and it comes through our knowledge of Jesus Christ. In this message, we explore what it means to unlock that promise. Through knowing Christ, we are set free from the corruption of sin and become partakers of God's own nature. With vivid illustrations from Israel's wilderness journey, the design of DNA, and Christ's words from the cross, we see how the knowledge of Jesus is not just information—it's transformation. The spiritual battles we face are not meant to destroy us but to refine us. The enemy, like a roaring lion, seeks to devour us, but God uses these struggles to prepare us for His promises. The key is not to run or surrender, but to resist the devil by standing firm in the truth of God's Word. When we hold fast to our faith, we not only protect ourselves from the lies and accusations of the enemy, but we also grow stronger in our relationship with Christ. Support the show

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Support our mission to teach every verse of the Bible. Read more here: Project23 Our text today is Judges 3:9-11 But when the people of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for the people of Israel, who saved them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother. The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. And his hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim. So the land had rest forty years. Then Othniel the son of Kenaz died. — Judges 3:9-11 What happens when God's Spirit fills an ordinary man? Israel cried out. And God answered—not with an army, but with a man. Othniel wasn't flashy. He wasn't famous. He was Caleb's younger brother, living in the shadow of a great warrior. Yet when the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, everything changed. Notice the shift: Israel cried. God raised. The Spirit empowered. Victory came. Peace followed. This is God's pattern. He takes an ordinary man, fills him with his Spirit, and uses him to deliver his people. Never underestimate what God can do through you when his Spirit fills you. You don't need the perfect résumé, the loudest voice, or the sharpest skills. What you need is surrender to God's Spirit. The battles you face aren't won by sheer grit but by God's Spirit working through you. Othniel's story reminds us: victory doesn't rest on the size of the man, but on the strength of the God in the man. ASK THIS: When was the last time I cried out to God for deliverance instead of trying to fix things myself? Do I believe God's Spirit can work powerfully through me right now? What keeps me from full surrender to God's Spirit? Where in my life do I need to step forward in faith like Othniel? DO THIS: Today, pray specifically for the Spirit of the Lord to empower you in one area where you feel weak—and then take one step of faith into that battle. PRAY THIS: Holy Spirit, fill me today. Use me, like you used Othniel, to bring your victory and your peace where I cannot on my own. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Same God."

We should live or lives with the understanding that we will one day stand before God to give an account of our lives. The ultimate consequence of our choices is facing God's judgment, and while our sin leads to a failing grade in life, Christ's sacrifice enables us to stand clothed in His righteousness. Today we will learn that Jesus was a fantastic storyteller. Parents, want to keep talking? Here are some ideas:Ask: Tell me about your favorite story. What is your favorite Bible story? Can you tell me about some of the stories Jesus told? (The Good Samaritan, the Prodigal Son) (ages 2-5)One of the coolest things Jesus did was walk on water. What do you think that would be like? Peter tried to walk on water but took his eyes off Jesus and went for a swim instead. What's your favorite part about swimming? (ages 6-10)When Jesus fed the 5,000 people, do you find it interesting that there were 12 baskets of leftover food? Why didn't Jesus make just enough food for everybody? What do you think the little boy thought when he gave up his lunch? Do you think he had any idea that Jesus was going to use it to feed everybody? What does this miracle teach you about God's power? (ages 11-12)One last thing! This week April asked, “What is something that you have LEARNED about God?”. Simply record a voice memo and send it in a text to 636-280-5433. No Ordinary Man | Matthew 8:27 | 20 April 2025 - Sunday Morning | Dr. Brad Weniger, Pastor
In this episode, we embark on a captivating journey through the Mediterranean with an ordinary man, Hensel, whose life takes an unexpected turn. Set against the backdrop of a serene cruise, we delve into the complexities of identity and deception. In this story, Hensel finds himself at a crossroads—he feels constrained by his mundane life as an assistant county assessor, yet the allure of adventure stirs something deep within him. The darkness of the night seems to echo this internal struggle, as he encounters the enchanting Maria Novella, a woman whose appearance brings both beauty and danger into his life.Through the dialogue shared between Hensel and Maria, we explore themes of perception, as the two characters uncover how appearances can be misleading. Hensel grapples with the desire to escape his ordinary existence and to embody the persona that Maria believes him to be—an importer of rare gems. This desire sets the stage for a series of events that lead him on an exhilarating chase through the shadows of both the cruise and his own reality. As the plot thickens, the audience is drawn into a tense navigation of trust and betrayal, with Hensel stepping further into the role he never anticipated. As we follow Hensel on his quest, we witness how his initial act of kindness—to protect Maria's family heirloom—spirals into a web of intrigue and peril. The brooch, imbued with personal significance, becomes the focal point that draws out hidden motivations and unravels the true nature of the characters surrounding him, particularly the sinister Mr. Brilliant and the enigmatic Pietro. The storytelling takes a darker spin, forcing Hensel to confront not only the dangers posed by those around him but also the evolving definition of what it means to be an 'ordinary man' in extraordinary circumstances. The narrative builds to an intense climax, where Hensel must summon his courage and resourcefulness to navigate threats that emerge from unexpected places. As the police become involved, and Maria's true intentions are revealed, Hensel's world is thrown into chaos. The resolution beckons a reflection on the choices we make and the identities we construct, as our protagonist strives not only to reclaim a precious item for Maria but also to rescue himself from the clutches of deception.Through 'An Ordinary Man,' I invite you to explore the thin line between reality and appearance, and the lengths one might go to escape the constraints of their own life. This episode serves as a reminder that beneath the surface of ordinary beings lie complex stories full of ambition, danger, and ultimately, self-discovery. Join me as we delve into the richness of the human experience, embracing the notion that sometimes, the most unexpected journeys arise from our everyday lives.

In a world that often repays evil with more evil, Scripture calls us to a higher way—one modeled by Christ Himself. Romans 12:17-21 challenges us to resist vengeance, while 1 Peter 2:18-25 reminds us that Jesus endured injustice without retaliation, entrusting Himself to the Father. In this sermon, we'll explore how Peter, once quick to fight back, learned to embrace this truth and how we, too, can follow Christ's example in responding to hardship with redemptive love. As the night unfolds, the father undergoes a terrifying transformation into something utterly unrecognizable. While it takes a fresh approach to the classic werewolf genre, the film still delivers an enjoyable experience. Later, Kyle dives into some intriguing listener stories. The first comes from someone who believes their recently deceased grandmother tried to contact them through the telephone. Lesson 1 - An Ordinary Man1 Kings 17:1-15.We know nothing about the Prophet Elijah other than he came from the town of Tishbe in Gilead. No one knows about his family or his education, all we do know is that he was rather an odd character! But his life teaches us that God knows how to raise up leaders when they are needed, and that He can use anyone — even a person from absolute obscurity — to do His will!
The Extraordinary Life of an Ordinary Man by Dan HuddlestonFor most of my life, I have been infected by wanderlust. When I see an airplane flying overhead or a ship on the horizon, I can't help but ask myself, “I wonder where they are going?”Life, as it has evolved, has led me on a journey that is beyond my imagination. I participated in one of the most polarizing events in U.S. history, the Vietnam war. I also was a participant in, quite possibly, the most important event in U.S. labor history, the 1981 air traffic controllers' strike. The second of those events led me to an amazing adventure. I lived outside of the United States for nine years. I have crossed the Pacific Ocean 11 times. I have crossed the Indian Ocean seven times. I have crossed the Atlantic Ocean more times than I can count. I have been on six of the seven continents and visited more than 90 countries. Along the way, a brilliant and beautiful young woman decided to become my partner and accompany me on that journey. This is the story of that adventure.Dan Huddleston began as a boy with no confidence and no prospects, who grew up to play the ultimate confidence game, Chicago Air Traffic Control. Then came an adventure where he spanned the globe with a brilliant and beautiful woman at his side.https://www.amazon.com/Extraordinary-Life-Ordinary-Man-ebook/dp/B0BGSWSJR4/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1L0Q1LXX69RQS&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.nx2SbbUsQNWa2ZGQCrxNeShDwhodfDB7AW52URIiMFYoJ8vCetLZ_DHSRzj8HALRA83ZjAF9iRSYrQDg3T1s1fmclQIrJUTClywNIK3AowpiYifNyoR-USG8Jm-XLEHnTFKpLVC_1ikTKEryCsSR2_zWEgpmzSHH7WiyFnpa9Lzj4h1A1jEQLKrEZuNr401Z3d_2-UFnTkwNaUeeKOJZ2YEN8EarrrjiVQ7PoJ5RiWg.xI2gSYwtfuQ1s5hJ5ZugKeCVhv8clAYEDA38z2kc_Xs&dib_tag=se&keywords=Dan+Huddleston&qid=1736257660&sprefix=the+extraordinary+life+of+an+ordinary+man%2Caps%2C320&sr=8-1http://www.KingPagesPress.com http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/1925kpp1.mp3

In this message, we explore how each of us, like stones, are meant to be joined together as part of God's household, with Jesus as our cornerstone. Our purpose and value come from being active parts of this spiritual community, rather than remaining in isolation. Through this, God shapes us, teaching us unity and preparing us for the ultimate joy of being part of His perfected, eternal kingdom. Support the show
This sermon explores the importance of pursuing pure, unaltered truth from God's Word, comparing it to the necessity of nourishing food for a child's growth. It highlights the dangers of compromised beliefs that weaken our faith and urges us to set aside destructive behaviors like envy, malice, and deceit. Discover how true fulfillment and strength come only from the "Bread of Life"—Jesus Christ—who alone satisfies our deepest spiritual hunger. Support the show
This sermon explores the deep connection between obedience, holiness, and love, unpacking how each one flows from a life transformed by God's truth. Holiness isn't about restriction but about shining outward with God's love. What does it look like to plant the seeds of Christ's love in our hearts? Shouldn't it help us to live lives that reflect His character. Support the show
We have a living hope that is actively transforming us even now, gradually shaping our souls through the work of the Holy Spirit. This hope will be fully realized in the future when we experience the fullness of our salvation in perfected bodies. As we fix our minds on this hope, we are empowered to live joyfully and steadfastly, undeterred by earthly setbacks, with our focus set on the eternal inheritance awaiting us in Christ. This message wonderfully unpacks the concept of being "chosen" by God, exploring the idea that God's election sets believers apart as "strangers in this world." It connects themes of grace, transformation, and pilgrimage with the theological richness of being God's elect, rooted in 1 Peter 1:1-2. Support the show
Peter's "moment of discovery" occurred when he realized that God's love and salvation were meant not only for Jews but for Gentiles as well. This revelation came through a vision from God, challenging Peter's preconceived beliefs about what is "clean" and "unclean." Peter had been resistant to interacting with Gentiles, but through divine intervention — both his vision and Cornelius' visitation by an angel — he understood that God shows no favoritism and accepts all who seek Him, regardless of their background. The first element of trustworthy testimony is the credibility of the witness, and the second is corroboration. This message explores the concept of a credible witness and how it applies to both the legal realm and the gospel. Just as a jury trusts a witness based on credibility and corroborating evidence, Christians are called to trust the testimony of Peter and the apostles because of the corroborating power of the Holy Spirit. We tend to obey those we fear displeasing, whether it's civil authorities, peers, or God. For Peter and John, obeying God took precedence over obeying civil authority. Is it ever right to be disobedient? Civil disobedience, when done in obedience to God's higher law, can be an act of true faith. This sermon argues that all authority derives its legitimacy from God, and we must obey Him above human authorities when their laws contradict His will. The religious leaders rejected Jesus as Lord despite overwhelming evidence of His truth, likening their rejection to a refusal to relinquish their own control and authority. Peter boldly declares that Jesus, the stone the builders rejected, is the cornerstone of salvation, and the truth of His lordship demands a response from everyone. Ultimately, rejecting Jesus is not a matter of truth but of personal unwillingness to submit to His authority.Support the show

Peter boldly addresses a hostile crowd at Pentecost, explaining the supernatural events by pointing to Scripture and declaring that the Jesus they crucified had been made Lord and Christ. His message, filled with courage from the Holy Spirit, cut deeply into the hearts of the people, leading them to ask, "What shall we do?" Today, we face the same decision: will we repent and accept Christ's authority in our lives, or reject Him with eternal consequences? Support the show
We can overlook Jesus' presence in our everyday lives, even in the most familiar or mundane situations. Today's message draws a powerful parallel between Peter's initial failure to recognize Jesus on the shore and our own tendencies to miss Christ's presence in our daily experiences. Our sense of wonder profoundly shapes our decisions, actions, and the direction we take in life.
