Meet Katie K. May and Shaelene Kite, the co-founders of Stabilize and Scale, where they help group practice owners make data-driven, values-aligned decisions. Together, they have supported over 60 six- and seven-figure practices in building sustainable systems, leading with clarity, and scaling without burnout. In this episode they share how they met on Facebook as DBT practice owners who became battle buddies during the pandemic. In developing their program they created a place for group practice owners to celebrate wins and successes while growing a group practice without overwhelm. They share the harsh realities they experienced along their journeys and how they stepped into leadership and help others do the same.Key Takeaways:-connect with people who are doing what you want to be doing-step into leadership and have systems documented with clear expectations-know your numbers-to be a successful group practice owner you have to want to lead people-your business is a mirror for your inner landscape-distance yourself from the life happiness of the people on your team-you rent employees, you do not own them-the business owners job is to keep the business going-employees are always going to choose themselves over the business-the more you let you the more you attractKatie and Shaelene's Links:Stabilize and ScaleNumbers Aren't NastyInstagram

In this episode, I spoke with my good friend Shaelene Kite, a counselor, DBT-trained therapist, and yoga instructor based in New Jersey. We dove deep into the topic of creating a membership site as an alternative income stream for therapists. Shaelene shared valuable insights from her experience founding the Rebel Minds Learning Collective, a DBT training membership site aimed at providing community, affordable training, and evolving the modality. Here are three key takeaways: Support & Community are Essential: Training alone isn't enough. Therapists need continuous support and community to avoid feelings of isolation and imposter syndrome. A membership site can offer consistent, accessible guidance. Making Training Accessible: The high costs associated with advanced training limit accessibility to continued learning, but creating an affordable membership option offers access to high-quality DBT training and ongoing education, ensuring therapists can pursue further learning without breaking the bank. Evolving Practices: It's crucial for therapeutic modalities to evolve with the times. Shaelene highlighted the importance of adapting DBT to be more inclusive, anti-racist, and responsive to the needs of neurodivergent clients. From Trauma to Triumph
Why Every Woman MUST Have Financial Literacy and Equality

My guest, Shaelene McInnis and I had a very important conversation about the importance of women in particular needing to have more financial equality in their relationships and why it is especially important that women become more financially literate, particularly when things end. The unfortunate reality for so many women coming out of a dissolution of a relationship, especially marriages, is that they are not receiving an equitable share of the finances in the relationship. Many women are coming out of abusive relationships where financial abuse was a big part of it, and sometimes are not even aware of the extent of it until they are out of the relationship. As the CEO of Books in Line, an accounting company serving Durham Region, Toronto and Northumberland, Shaelene McInnis is an advocate for financial education for all boys and girls, men and women. With COVID the disparity in financial literacy and equality between men and women became increasingly apparent. Financial equality is a key factor in achieving women's equality and many women are not aware of how to create and maintain financial independence. With almost half of all marriages ending in divorce, it is essential for women to ensure they are financially protected, for themselves and their children. Shaelene will speak about key steps to ensuring you are empowered financially. She offers sage advice that we all can use!! Welcome to a short episode of T-Talk where the rules aren't strict. Are your "good habits" starting to control your attitude towards life? Maybe you feel like you are only productive or worthy of feeling good about yourself when you check off all the items on your habit tracker daily. If the habits you strive to meet daily are becoming problematic, this episode is for you. In this episode, I will share the three anti-habits I will start working on to get out of a place that doesn't feel good. "I feel like putting my energy into these anti-habits is going to help me feel like I've accomplished something, but also change the habits that haven't supported me." - Shaelene. Do I Even Have Anything Meaningful To Say? Putting yourself out there can be horrifying, however, it leads to opportunities and growth. How often do we ask ourselves, why me? What do I have to say that's different from someone else? How often do we actually say "YES" to opportunities and put ourselves out there? During this episode, I talk with Shaelene Kite, LPC, DBT-LBC, ACS, RYT, the Owner of DBT of South Jersey and RebelMente Coaching. Powerful quotes include: "The world need's everyone's gifts. The saddest thing in the world is wasted talent." "Use fear as a gas pedal instead of a brake." "I feel really good about what I'm putting into the world but I'm only going to be able to impact so many people." "Putting myself out there has led to some incredible experiences that I would never have dreamed of." More about Shaelene: Shaelene Lauriano Kite, LPC, DBT-LBC, RYT, ACS received her Master's in Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey in 2012 and has continued to immerse herself on the path of learning and teaching ever since.
