Send us a textGrief touches us all, yet we rarely understand its full complexity until we drown in it. Beyond the passing of loved ones, grief emerges when we lose jobs, places, relationships, and even versions of ourselves we've outgrown. When was the last time you allowed yourself to fully feel a loss instead of pushing forward? In this deeply personal episode, I share my journey of avoiding grief for decades and the surprising breakthrough that came in my fifties. After rushing past denial, anger, bargaining, and depression to reach acceptance throughout my life, my brother's passing changed everything. For the first time, I allowed myself to experience the full weight of loss without shutting down. This newfound emotional connection transformed not just how I processed his death but how I experienced a later move from Guam—marking the first time I genuinely missed a place I'd left behind. The truth about grief is stunningly simple yet profoundly difficult to embrace: we are all born sensitive beings meant to experience the full spectrum of human emotion. When we shut down grief, we also inadvertently close ourselves to joy. Through practical approaches like writing memory-focused letters, seeking professional support, and practicing presence within each stage of grief, we can honor our losses while still finding moments of light.Whether you're personally navigating grief or supporting someone through it, remember that grief follows no timeline. Loneliness often hits hardest about six weeks after loss, when most support has faded. Your presence then—a simple "how can I help?" rather than "let me know if you need anything"—could be exactly what someone needs to feel less alone in their ocean of grief.Ready to bring more mindfulness to your grief process? This fun episode is an interview with me! I get asked all the questions you might ask me too… what has your journey been like? How did you get where you are now? What do you do and how does it help people? You'll hear me help my friend and fellow coach, Sarah Bond, process through grief in a different way than you've likely heard before. Let's dig in! What we chat about today: Why I don't coach the same way that I used to, and what I found that has been more effective for me Why emotions need to be processed in the body, and not in the mindWe move through an inner child/somatic practice to help with grief… and it takes us in an expected, but beautiful direction. Losing a cherished furbaby is a special kind of hurt, as loss of unconditional love and your best friend all happen at the same time. In this episode, I share my personal experience of navigating grief after the loss of my OG french bulldog Simone. It is so important to allow ourselves to grieve without guilt, cherish the memories, and practice self-care during this difficult time but sometimes we don't allow ourselves what we really need. Space? Movement? Rest? Tears? Sadness? Cereal for dinner? In this episode I encourage you to act with compassion toward yourself as you process your emotions. You are not on anyone's timeline but your own. Even though this episode may have a sad topic I give some actionable tips and advice for moving through this process both physically and mentally.

Hello hello and welcome back to another episode with Maddie!!We are deep diving into grief!! Grief is coming to terms with a huge empty space of something that you have lost – that cannot be replicated. And it's a necessary process to come to terms with loss -Your grief is unique and it is yours – your relationship to loss is as unique as your finger print. There are no two the same -It's universal and intensely personal -There is no formula for grief and there is no such thing as the right way to mourn someone -Grief is long. Not in the same intensity. It changes as you grow around it.-a process that can include ambivalent feelings. Relief and anger can be mixed with love and grief. Joy and sorrow - grief is relearning how to experience the world of relationship, at a time of emotional turmoil. -Grief can also reweave life and meaning. - All grief is valid. Every single one of us has had an experience of either losing someone or something we love or knowing someone else who has, right? Even though this is a painful truth about the experience of living, oftentimes we do not have the tools or the support we need to navigate through grief in healing ways. On this week's podcast episode, Lisa Heacock, an international best-selling author, inspirational speaker, and international certified life coach, grief coach, and grief educator, offers her perspective on grief. She speaks both from her professional background as well as from her personal story, after losing twelve loved ones through death in twenty-two-months. Lisa offers wisdom and bite-size tools and steps that can easily be digested and implemented when and if needed. Key Takeaways: One of the best ways you can support someone in grief is to say something like, “I just want you to know that I'm here, and I love you, and I'm sending all my loving energy your way. No pressure to respond at all.”Often people experiencing grief will wonder if they sound crazy or broken. If you are grieving, you are not broken - you are simply grieving. It is important to reach for as many healthy resources as you can to support you and/or your loved ones in your/their grieving process.Resources: https://holisticlifecoaching.org.uk/https://www.instagram.com/holistic_coach_lisa/https://www.facebook.com/holisticlifecoachingwithlisamariehttps://linktr.ee/CoachLisaMariehttps://www.thecalmingground.com/free-guided-meditation“I love Elizabeth and The Calming Ground Podcast.” If that sounds like you, please consider rating and reviewing my show! Happy Throwback Thursday Heal Squad. Today we're bringing back our conversation with End of Life and Grief Doula, Dianne Gray, as she offers practical guidance and support on navigating the grieving process. Death is an inevitable part of life and through the perfectly, imperfect mess that this experience brings us, Dianne reminds us to give ourselves grace because grieving takes time. Once a loved one passes away, they're not completely gone, their energy has just shifted, and we can ask ourselves the important question "Who Am I Becoming?" as we navigate life with them in a different form. Dianne also helps us address the often-overlooked emotion of anger in the grieving process, grief attacks, and various other components of grief that will allow us to look at it differently. Healers & Heal-Liners We all experience death, but what do we do with it? If you're a long-time caregiver, understand that caregiving is brutal. Love is energy and energy is neither created nor destroyed. It just changes forms Research shows that if we can go 20-30 minutes in nature, it elevates and changes our brain makeup and also helps us to connect. If you lose a spouse, partner, or someone that they are tied to - give yourself a long runway. Realize that life is not going to change overnight. Give yourself years to adapt to whatever your life might become. We cry when we feel safe. It's our way to just release. Grieving isn't just when someone dies. Grieving is during the whole process of someone being ill. Don't put a period, where a comma has been placed. Welcome back to another episode of ReikiCafe Radio! This week, join Shantel Ochoa and Isabel Wells as they discuss how we can identify and release grief in our lives.Grief is a universal experience, but often gets pushed to the side when it is time to 'move on'. We shove grief down if it doesn't fit the typical presentation, and we're expected to move through the five stages of grief quickly so we can get back to 'normal life'.But grief fundamentally changes our lives, inside and out. In this conversation, Shantel and Isabel will discuss the different types of grief, share their personal experiences with grief, explore ways to work with and process heavy emotions, and ways to change your perspective around grief so you can allow your grieving process to flow as it needs to.So grab your tea or coffee and join us as we sip our way through this week's episode!Ready to join us on a ReikiCafe University retreat? As humans, grief is something we will all experience at some point. It is also one of the hardest things we will ever go through, and a journey that is going to be deeply personal to each of us. This incredibly difficult process of grief has the ability to change us and expand us in more ways than we ever thought possible, if we have the courage to let it. Taylor is here looking for guidance on how to navigate grief. She lost her Grandma two years ago and was unprepared for how much it affected her and changed her life. In the process of her grief, she closed her heart to love. She now feels ready to step out of her comfort zone and open her heart up again. Today, Taylor and I have a tender conversation about stepping into the beauty of all that life has to offer. During her reading we touch on: Polarity and duality as aspects of the word we live in Allowing your grief to have a place in your life, and how to explore it rather than run away from it Why it often gets worse before it gets better Developing your own internal support system Putting yourself first and prioritizing your needs as a gift of radical self love Being embodied to create a foundation for your heart to open from, and how to do this That grief has no rules I hope this reading empowers you to harness the creative power of your grief and use it to bring something good into the world. The holiday season can be joyful for some and complicated for others, particularly those of us who are mourning loved ones whom we have lost. Rebecca Soffer knows this well, having lost both her parents within just a few years of each other in her early 30s. In a career twist that she never planned for and certainly never would have wanted, Rebecca went on to co-found Modern Loss, a community and events company to support the many of us who are bereaved, without platitudes. In this episode of “Your New Life Blend” host Shoshanna Hecht talks to Rebecca about boundaries, resilience, trusting your gut about what works for you, and why, no, everything does not happen for a reason. Ashley Nelson became a two-time widow before the age of 35. She also said “goodbye” to ten other relatives and friends in between those drastic losses. These deaths, alongside her 10-year career in the health and death-care industry, gave her deep insight into life after loss that led to her becoming a certified grief specialist. Today, Ashley leads ‘Learning About Grief' - an organization that offers loss-specific groups, one-to-one private grief sessions, and free education to over 25,000 people from 50+ countries. In today's episode we ask her about the stages of grief and how to move through them, as well as support people going through them. She sheds light on the research that led to the well-known ‘5 Stages of Grief,' but shares that these stages were well-documented only with respect to those who were dying. However, we know that grief not only affects the dying but the ones who have survived their death. If the colloquially known 5 Stages of Grief have never resonated with you as a person who has lost a loved one, and experience them more in waves, this conversation will leave you feeling more seen and heard.Carrying grief is human, and you are exactly where you are meant to be.No matter what season of grief you are in, or even if you have never lost a loved but want to support those that have, this conversation will help you ease pain and feel more connected.Episode highlights:-The 5 Stages of Grief (what it gets right + what it gets wrong)-Celebrating someone's life while simultaneously grieving them-Why we resist the ‘acceptance' phase for so long-Comparing your grief or attempting to justify it-The guilt of joy (Survivor's Guilt) experienced after losing loved one-Finding a new identity after lossIf you love this episode and want to chat with us and our high vibe community more about grief...join the free Spiraling Higher Community. We host FREE connection calls inside for our community on the last Sunday of every month. What do we do when we're in mourning? How do we handle the feelings of despair? Today's guest, Chriscynethia Floyd, will share with hosts, Elisa Morgan and Eryn Adkins, how she overcame her pits of despair with the help of her loving friends and the guidance of God. You don't want to miss her story during this conversation on God Hears Her. Notes and Quotes: “..And I've just been blessed. I mean, it [my singing] truly is a gift God gave me, and it's the gift, I think, that brought me out of all of that despair.” - Chriscynethia Floyd “It's true…the voice gave me a voice, being able to speak up for myself, being able to speak up for others.” - Chriscynethia Floyd “...I do believe that the way that I was surrounded by my colleagues and my friends… is just one of the reasons that God moved me in this direction.” - Chriscynethia Floyd “What I love about doing what I do is, one, being able to help people grow closer to God and to engage with the Bible. But also for those folks who have longed to write, or give voice to what they know God has placed on their hearts.” - Chriscynethia Floyd “Our mission…is to feed the soul with the Word of God…that's our mission for publishing at Our Daily Bread Publishing. And we want to make room for people to receive and read, and to reflect and respond to the Word… the ideas that it draws people closer.” - Chriscynethia Floyd Verses: Ecclesiastes 3:4 Links: God Hears Her website: https://www.godhearsher.org/ God Hears Her newsletter sign-up: https://www.godhearsher.org/sign-upsfmc Subscribe on iTunes! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/god-hears-her-podcast/id1511046507?utm_source=applemusic&utm_medium=godhearsher&utm_campaign=podcast Our Daily Bread Publishing: https://ourdailybreadpublishing.org/ Elisa's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elisamorganauthor/ Eryn's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eryneddy/ MB01N7GVMQDX04N

Grief and loss touch us all in ways both small and big throughout our lives, yet our culture often struggles to embrace the messy emotions that grief brings. On today's On Health episode, I'm joined by author and cancer thriver Kris Carr to discuss her latest book, "I'm Not a Mourning Person,” which dives deep into the complexities of grief and healing. We explore how life's ruptures turn our world upside down and reshape us, the importance of acknowledging grief, and the difference between 'getting over it' and 'getting through it'. We also explore the importance of radical self-compassion along the way. Kris and I get into: The many ways we face grief from the loss of a loved one, the loss of a pregnancy, the loss of a marriage, or the loss of how we thought life would be The 'messy mascara moment' that led to her emotional epiphany Overcoming the belief that emotions are 'unbecoming' and how they are actually part of becoming our whole selves The moments of rupture in her life and how she's moved through them Anticipatory grief and how it can be a gift but also keep us from being present The power of accepting help How to be more 'grief literate' when talking with someone going through loss The 5 pillars of wellness Kris practices during times of distress How to approach work when you just can't show up the same way during grief Thank you so much for taking the time to tune in to your body, yourself, and this podcast! Navigating grief can be a difficult journey to conquer alone, especially if you've never done it before. Some think they can bypass pain and grief completely and just skip to joy. Others believe they don't deserve joy amid so much loss. Joy is not something that must be earned or can only come as result of a prior effort, and grief is not something that needs to exist in a vacuum and consume every waking moment of your life.Today, we're joined by Sally Douglas and Imogen Carn, hosts of the popular podcast Good Mourning where they both shine a light on what grief is really like with honesty, hope and humor. We chat about their new book, how to make the conversation about loss and grief more approachable, putting a positive spin on grief anniversaries, how grief affects a person's body and mind, how to finally take the approach forward towards joy. ---Follow Sally & Imogen on InstagramFollow Good Mourning Podcast on InstagramListen to Good Mourning PodcastPurchase a copy of their book 'Good Mourning'---Sally's Captivation: Ted LassoImogen's Captivation: Vanderpump RulesHannah's Captivation: The Album by The Jonas BrothersEmily's Captivation: Sézane Betty cardigan---Welcome to The Gal's Guide — a weekly dating and lifestyle podcast created to empower radical self-love and bold relationships. “You can't plan grief. You can't plan when or how or what will occur,” says Dr. Dan Allender, “But there is something that has to be a decision perhaps made well before. Will I go into these waters or will I remain on the side?” In today's podcast conversation, Dan and Rachael welcome Mary Ellen Owen, Counselor in Colorado Springs and Instructor and Facilitator at the Allender Center. They take a look at the process of moving through grief and moving from our heads to our hearts and bodies. Mary Ellen shares, “If you're just a theological head exercise, you won't move through grief. And there is another side… there is a lightness that comes. But… only if you do this in an embodied way.” Listen as she vulnerably shares some of her personal stories about her practices of grief.

When it comes to loss and moving gracefully through grief, Christa Couture knows a thing or two. The multi-talented writer, singer and now filmmaker has lived through more than her fair share of loss. At 11 years old, she received a cancer diagnosis. She lost her first son when he was just a day old due to complications during childbirth. Her second son died at 14 months old due to complications with his heart. Soon after, her marriage ended. And just as some new beginnings emerged, cancer returned. To work through her loss and grief, Christa turned to music – creating seven albums and a memoir called How to Lose Everything. These were important projects in helping her deal with her own grief. Now she's looking to help others with their experiences with grief and loss. Christa and producer Michelle St. John have teamed up with 5 pairs of Indigenous writers, artists and animators to create a series of short films. Each one – a personal story of loss. Each voice – sharing wisdom to help others through the darkness. “Grape Soda in the Parking Lot” is the name of Taqralik Partridge's short film animated by Megan Kyak-Monteith. In it, Taqralik recalls her Scottish grandmother who spoke Gaelic and her Inuk father who spoke Inuktitut and poses an important question about language. Archer Pechawis, an artist and member of Mistawasis First Nation, is the storyteller behind “A Bear Named Jesus.” The short film, stop-motion animated by Terril Calder, explores what happened after his mom became a born-again Christian.
