We talk about common upkeep mistakes and how to get your board going and keep your board operating as it should. We also go through those additional pieces of kit in the package, including the standard paddle 'type' , leash choice and fins, which all add together to maximise your paddle experience. We finish by talking about some of those basic safety considerations which are so important for any new paddlers to be aware of when they go out on the water for the first time. “All you ca do day-to-day is control the things that are within your power.” - Alex Solomon, MBA Intern, Columbia, AWS InfrastructureHappy new year! We’re kicking off the 2021 season with an interview we recorded at the end of last summer with Alex Solomon. He was an MBA intern on our team.First off, it turns out that Alex and Charlie hail from the same neck of the woods (Long Island), so we spent some quality time digging into the culture ;) (bagels, North Fork wineries, Montauk, Billy Joel and the importance of saying ‘ON Long Island’ versus ‘IN Long Island’).Our time was 100% virtual last summer but we all agreed that it not only worked, but we also had a blast working together. Alex shares his journey to Columbia Business School and how he got into the summer program at Amazon as well as what helped him land the opportunity. He also shares what he’s learned about working at Amazon in AWS and having a successful intern experience. Thanks Alex for coming on and we’ll (finally) see you in Seattle after graduation!Alex on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alex-solomon-cpa-61396662/ --CONTACT THE SHOW:Website | https://www.charleskunken.com/podcastLinkedIn Group | https://www.linkedin.com/groups/13919730/Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/financeguyspodcast/Email | charlie@charleskunken.com (Hit us up! Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrases UP TO ME and UP IN ARMS In this English lesson I wanted to help you learn the English phrase, up to me. If something is up to me, it means that I get to decide it. If something is up to you, it means you get to decide it. Right now, if I wanted to go eat in a restaurant, it's not up to me. The government has said that we're not allowed to. Another thing about the phrase, up to me, is when our children have a birthday, it is up to them to decide what we have for supper. So my son is having a birthday this month, and he gets to decide what we eat for supper on his birthday. It is up to him. So, if something is up to me, it means I get to decide it. If something is up to you, it means that you get to decide it.WANT MORE ENGLISH LESSONS? GO TO YOUTUBE AND SEARCH, "BOB THE CANADIAN"#englishlessons #english #englishphrase #speakingenglish #bobthecanadianThe other phrase I wanted to look at today is the phrase, up in arms. When you are up in arms about something, sorry, I'm trying something new with my papers today. When you are up in arms about something, it means you are really, really upset about it. Right now, still in the United States, many people are up in arms about the results of the election. They are very upset about the results. I think if I told my son on his birthday that he wasn't allowed to decide what we have for supper, he would probably be up in arms about it, he would be very, very upset that he didn't get to decide what we got to eat.So, to review once again. If you say something is up to me, it means I get to decide. So, sometimes things aren't up to me though. But if something was up to me, it means I get to decide. If something was up to you, it means you get to decide, but sometimes it's up to the government to decide, or it's up to your boss to decide. That's not always the most enjoyable, but I think overall rules and laws are good. The other phrase, again, was the phrase, up in arms. When you are up in arms about something it means you are really, really upset about it. By the way, I'm not up in arms about the weather today. I'm actually kinda happy about it. It's one of the first little snow falls, here in Ontario, Canada.Let's look, though, at a comment from a previous video, this comment is from Alex, and Alex says, "Hello, teacher Bob. "I had noticed the kitten behind your back as I was watching the video. "It looked nice, is it yours?" And my reply was, "Yes, technically it is mine, "but it really is my daughter's. "She's the one who spends time with it. "I'm the one that buys the cat food." I think you probably understand what I'm saying there. Technically, I own the cat, but I'm not the one that plays with the cats every day. So, I'm the one who buys the food, I'm the one who buys things to take care of the cats, but it's really my daughter who plays with the cats. So in the cat's mind, my daughter is their owner because the cats don't really like me that much.By the way, that was from a previous video. Thanks Alex, for that comment. Yes, in the previous video at the beginning, there's a kitten that walks past, and then it walks past again just a little while later. And I think that kitten's name is Pumpkin. So there are actually two kittens that look exactly alike, they are both kind of that orange color. So my daughter, I asked her earlier, I said, "What are the names of those two little kittens?" Alex Hutchnson, so claimed creative director at Stadia, decided to throw some hot takes into the Twitch DMCA arena. His target? THE GAMERS! This got the attention of popular Twitch Streamers like Dr. Disrespect, and dakotaz, and even an economics professor decided to chime in and call Alex’s take “unbelievable!” What’s more, Hutchinson claiming that he is creative director of Stadia turned out to be a total lie, he’s just the creative director of a studio in Montreal that happens to be owned by Stadia. What does this all mean for Twitch, Stadia, and how many other hot takes can we fit into this episode? Find out on today's edition of Inside Gaming! Find out on today's edition of Inside Gaming! Episode 1: Yes Yes Yes Helsinki My first restaurant visit after Covid-19 restrictions was to Yes Yes Yes Helsinki together with Chris Moore. It was great to eat together with someone and to try something new. You see, because of Chris, this blog is now also a podcast. As you can hear from the audio, it may be challenging to capture good quality audio in a restaurant, but hey, the food was awesome! This place is ranked 36th on the Top 50 restaurants in Finland list, and even though it is a vegetarian place, it doesn't make it a statement that makes you feel uncomfortable. In fact, everything was very comfortable. Me and Chris enjoyed the Chef's menu, which was awesome all around. Definitely my favourite dish was the Risotto paired with Truffle Spinach, but really everything else was tasty too. Highly recommended for the feel good after stuffing all that goodness to your tummy. Alex Nieminen as one of the owners will also share his view on the podcast. Thanks Alex, and Yes yes yes Helsinki for a great experience!Follow HelsinkiEats at instagram: http://www.instagram.com/helsinkieats2020 or read the blog at http://helsinkieats.com
Alexandra Legouix is a podcaster, singer, yoga teacher and tv presenter who has worked in Formula One, World Rally and World Touring Car Championship. We discuss her unconventional route into presenting from acting school to Miss Great Britain, being a child interviewer, going back to basics through teaching presenting and our mutual love for podcasts. She’s probably best known as the face and pitlane reporter of Eurosport and FOX Sport’s live coverage of the FIA WTCR World Touring Car Cup. A competition that has seen her visit many countries including Macau this weekend just gone. Alex has determination in spades as she has shown by completing a Wingwalk for charity and taking part in a 6 day endurance rally across the Sahara desert in Morocco. And from her beginnings as an up and coming horse rider to an aspiring actor and singer, then becoming a regular face on TV it’s been a roller coaster journey which means she has so much experience for us to tap into and she doesn't disappoint. The stories of WCTR driver Yvan Muller shows the different ways in which to approach people and how another interviewer was ruthlessly cut down by him. And how Joanna Lumley is as lovely as we all hope she is whilst Nicole Scherzinger offered up one of the most moments in her career. She has not one but two podcasts, with her most recent one called Mindset Unfiltered with the likes of the aforementioned Yvan Muller, which launched after our chat (some inspirational words must have been exchanged when we met!) . The other, and one we talked about in the podcast, is Girl on Girl. Thanks Alex for her time and to you for listening. We're closing out March by talking with with London-based product designer and creative technologist Alex Fefegha. As the creative director of his own Alex's work has taken him all over the world, and he's currently creative director of Comuzi, an agency with clients like the BBC, the University of the Arts London and NHS England. Our talk is less of an interview and more of a conversation. We touch on a few entrepreneurial topics like starting a studio and finding clients, the state of diversity in design in London and the United Kingdom, and I ask Alex what he thinks prevents more Black designers from becoming recognized leaders in design. It's a little bit of a departure from the norm, but I'm glad that we were able to candidly discuss these topics. Thanks Alex! Today Ben thinks about what he would say to his younger self about porn, specifically when he was 12 years old. He's learned a lot in the last 40 years. We're excited to announce that Brian Beyke and Bryan Schiele are taking over as hosts of the I Brew My Own Coffee podcast! We'd also like to say how much we appreciate all the great work and love that Alex Carpenter put into building this amazing platform. Thanks Alex! This week we're talking about brewing coffee at the office, and some of the devices and techniques we've had success with. We also talk about a couple of interesting coffees from HoneyCo and Tweed Coffee Roasters.
This is another Bonus episode of the #CoachGlassPodcast which we fondly refer to as the #YOJAY series. We experimented with the new @Periscope App. Live streaming the start of the episode on this cool interactive social media app. We will try it again if you #Glisteners are up for the challenge of live podcast and interactive Q&A! In this episode we discuss recommendations for parents, coaches and athletes who are in need of some balance in their lives. If your whole life is your sport or you have young juniors who live, breathe and eat their sport its time for a head shake! This topic was brought to us from my good friends in Dubai @RiggsGolf. Thanks Alex! We also have a question from Danny O’Keefe on how to enter your market with a new business be it a Golf Fitness Program, new gym or even a combined physio/training space. The secret?………….. You will have to listen and learn! Hope you all enjoy the episode and keep the #YoJay questions coming. #DreamBig #OverDeliver be #Undeniable and #CheersEverybody! Coach Glass
