This week we wrap up Fantasy February and our look at pulp heroes with a look at a film that has it's roots in (and centers around) pulpy romance fiction novels. From 1984, Romancing The Stone. Kathleen Turner plays Joan Wilder, a meek and mousy romance novelist, who receives a treasure map in the mail from her recently murdered brother-in-law. At the same time, her sister Elaine is kidnapped in Colombia and the two criminals responsible, demand that she travel to Colombia to exchange the map for her sister. Joan does, but she quickly becomes lost in the jungle after being waylaid by Zolo, a corrupt Colombian cop who will stop at nothing to obtain the map for himself. While there, she meets, and is helped by, an irreverent, laid-back adventurer of sorts, named Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) who agrees (for a price) to bring her back to civilization. Together, they embark upon an adventure that could be straight out of one of Joan's pulpy romance novels!
Show Notes This week on MSB: Uso and the League Militaire crew discover that to BESPA 'ceasefire' means the opposite of what you'd think, as the soldiers of Largaine Base resolve to use up all their ammunition, and every Zolo they've got, in one last desperate attack on the White Ark. Uso deploys a pro-gamer strat using the V2's nigh-miraculous Wings of Light, fish rain from the sky, and friend of the podcast Sarah McCostumes returns to talk about greebles, closet cosplay, and the most intense costume choice of them all. Draft week in Detroit was one for the ages as the city really showed out and came out in a big way. We recap the whole week from our vantage points. The first three picks (Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye) were all QBs and we pose a question: Who will be the most successful. Is JJ McCarthy the enemy now for Michigan x Lions fans? The Lions capitalized on defensive talent during the massive run of offense - as did the Eagles. Who will make the bigger impact come week one: Terrion Arnold, or Quinyon Mitchel? Was our Jackie Robinson, Cooper DeJean the steal of the draft? And lastly…why did Atlanta take Michael Penix?
It feels so good to be back, and we picked the best week of the year to finally poke our heads out. The boys strap right in and get you prepped for the draft. We'll run a live mock where Uncle Sam and Zolo will personally attack each other while Sam plays peacekeeper. And how bout those new Lions threads? We'll break them down and talk about what makes them so brilliant. Welcome back to the chat!

Announcement Support Former Political Prisoner Zolo Azania Former Black political prisoner and friend to many of us, Zolo Azania, needs our financial assistance to pay for important repairs on his car. He uses his car to drive to work. Details below. Please be generous. Zolo recently had a new transmission installed in his car along with other necessary repairs. The total bill came out to $4,659.51. He had put aside $1,200 for car repairs, therefore he needs another $3,459.51 in order to reclaim his car. After spending nearly 37 years in Indiana prisons, Zolo has been free for nearly 7 years now. After facing many challenges on the outside, we're very happy to say Zolo now owns a house! Of course he needs to pay a mortgage and pay for repairs and upkeep on the house. After working 5 years at low paying jobs, Zolo was recently able to obtain a better paying job with benefits. This job requires a commute which is difficult on public transportation. Zolo would like to avoid excessive charges for the dealership to store his car. If Zolo cannot pay this repair bill he risks losing his car altogether. Zolo appreciates any donation but please be as generous as you can. You can send donations to him via Zelle, Venmo or Cash App ($ZoloAzania5). His accounts are under “Zolo Azania” Bad News #72 Online Now!

She recently become a first time author and with the release of her bestselling first book, House Poor No More: 9 Steps to Grow the Value of Your Home and Net Worth. In this episode, Romana shares why she thinks everyone needs a homeowner's cheat sheet, so she decided to write her new book, House Poor No More. She also shares overlooked inspections and audits that should be done before you buy a home and why buying a home is part of a larger long-term goal and not simply a box to be ticked on a life checklist. How do you classify a band that has been known to have multiple time signature changes and key modulations in one song, yet can write really catchy pop melodies? England's Cardiacs certainly fit this description, yet they defy any easy one-size-fits-all description.I'm joined by my son Max Bursztynski to talk about Cardiacs' 1996 double album Sing To G-d released some 20 years into their career. The band may not have the level of fame of Blur, Radiohead or Marillion, but all these bands sing their praises, and after listening to this magnum opus, it's easy to understand the love. Did I say "listening"? You don't just listen to this album....you have to absorb it over many plays. It's not easy to take in, but like many great albums, every play brings new rewards.I'm thrilled to have Max come on the show to talk about one of his most favourite bands. As well as focusing on the album, we discuss how Max discovered them, the band's history and musical development, and why it's critically important for potential fans of their music to buy a physical copy of the album from the band's website. We also ask a philosophical question for the ages.... ....what the hell is "Zolo"?Thanks to Max for his ongoing attempts to educate his old man.The show is now part of the Pantheon Podcast network.
