Tom McLeod from Arkive is featured on this week's episode of Nicstalgia. We discuss the objects that serve as milestone-markers throughout childhood and his formative memories around gaming. (Well actually, Tom playing games and me eating popcorn watching other people play games.) There's definitely a Slap Bracelet Entrepreneur to Tech Founder pipeline. You'll learn why pop culture will move the needle toward mass adoption in web3, how Beethoven was really just the Drake of his time, which piece of pop culture memorabilia I finally bought off eBay, and why one day, 80s-90s ‘Grandma Names' will become cool once again. We explore the maps ➡️ Mapquest ➡️ physical GPS ➡️ smartphone GPS timeline and work together to wrap our heads around the fact that we are further from Y2K now than we were then from the creation of the internet. Are the malls in New Jersey superior? As Tri-state area natives, we say yes. About our Guest Tom McLeod is a 5x serial entrepreneur. Currently he is building Arkive; unlocking the value of Smithsonian-like museum treasuries by letting members curate a distributed collection of offline valuable cultural artifacts brought on chain. Along with a passion for tech and the arts, Tom has a dedicated interest in service and supporting diverse communities. He sits on the board of the investment platform Firma and Camelback Ventures as well as advising numerous founders and startups. In this episode, I interviewed Tom McLeod and discussed the How, the Who, and the Where of the future of Internal Audit. Tom had some thought-provoking ideas on the topic and on how organizations can use GLOBAL talent to suit their needs (why restrict yourself to local talent?). He also had some points regarding how demographic trends (particularly in India and China) will play a role in our profession. Listen in to check out to whom Tom thinks the future belongs!
The questions motivating Arkive are not distinct to the needs of a decentralized museum — they're universally resonate considerations for anyone building community-owned networks in web3. Tom McLeod is the co-founder of Arkive, the self-proclaimed “last museum” and simultaneous first-ever decentralized physical museum. Arkive's design space exists at the intersection of physical objects, digital community-building, and member governance. Tom walks us through decision-making experiments enabled by their in-house DAO tool Atrium, providing a justification for bespoke DAO tooling solutions. He shares the coordination tensions they're hoping to solve, guided by a strong belief in embedding community engagement ahead of financialization. We're left with a clear takeaway: the most exciting DAOs will become institutions.
We'll open the show by getting to know another of our WDEV All-Stars. Tom McLeod, who currently works at sister station WLVB, has a long, wonderful history with WDEV. Next, Calvin Cutler of WCAX puts a bow on the current session of the Vermont Legislature, giving us an idea of what got passed, what might get vetoed and how some of the Governor's previous vetoes fared in trying to override them. After that, Vermont Fish & Wildlife biologist Nick Fortin educates us about fawns and why it's important to leave them alone, no matter how cute they are. And we'll finish the morning hearing about the Seven Stars Arts Center in Sharon and its Historic Stage Curtain Celebration coming up on Friday.

Trucking decisions have gone to the machines. The promises sound almost magical: supply your shippers with better freight visibility with one click, better manage your driver profiles and increase retention with this easy software, find the operational silver bullet without having to hire a data scientist. In fact, today, an algorithmic solution exists for almost every trucking and logistic problem. And, for those big data set problems not yet covered, there’s capital available. But, Seth Clevenger wonders, how well are the machines learning at scale? Will these technologies really continue to provide today’s trucking and logistics managers with better decision and support solutions for real-world problems tomorrow? Or, are the profitability promises about to fall flat? To get some answers, our host travels to the 2019 McLeod Software User Conference and sits with tech expert and company CEO, Tom McLeod, who helps to put a human explanation to the work of the machines. Doug is traveling to Pittsburgh for a men's conference Today's guest is Tom McLeod, Transform Jacksonville tjax.org Caller Jeff: Everything is falling in to place ------------------ Matthew 27:45-66 The Death of Jesus 45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 47 And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.” 48 And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. 49 But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.” 50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. 51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. 54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!” 55 There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him, 56 among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. Jesus Is Buried 57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. 58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb. The Guard at the Tomb 62 The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate 63 and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’ 64 Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.” 65 Pilate said to them, “You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make it as secure as you can.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard. ------------------ https://swatradio.com/ SWAT - Spiritual Warriors Advancing Truth Call us Toll-Free at: +1-844-777-7928 Email Us a Question: ask@swatradio.com FIND A SWAT MEETING Woody’s Bar-B-Que 226 Solano Rd Ponte Vedra, FL 10611 Wed. 6:30-7:30 am Eastside Community Church 13301 Beach Blvd Jacksonville, FL Wed.
