In this week's episode of The Great Big Podcast, join host Samantha Harms as she takes the show on the road to discuss an essential topic that affects us all: road safety. Sam sits down with Captain Eric Yahnel, the supervisor for the traffic section with the law enforcement division for the Directorate of Emergency Services. Captain Yahnel's mission is to protect and educate Soldiers, residents, family members, workers, and visitors about the importance of responsible driving. To report missing signs or traffic signal issues, please call the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) non-emergencies line at 254-287-4001.The following are some important factors to know about when it comes to operating a vehicle safely.Speeding• According to the Texas Transportation Code 545.351.1, going one to 10 mph above the posted speed limit will result in a $185 fine. Traveling 11 to 15 mph above the posted speed limit results in a $210 fine, and 16 to 20 mph above results in a $235 fine. 21 mph and above results in a $260 fine.• Additionally, according to the Fort Cavazos Regulation 190-2, 190-5, traveling 20 mph above the posted speed limit warrants post-suspension.Traffic control signals• An operator of a vehicle facing a circular green signal may proceed straight or turn right or left unless a sign prohibits the turn. It is important to remember that while the signal is exhibited, the operator shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles lawfully in the intersection.• An operator of a vehicle operator facing only a steady red signal shall stop at a clearly marked stop line or before the crosswalk.Vehicle entering stop or yield intersection• An operator approaching an intersection on a roadway that is controlled by a stop sign, after stopping, as required, shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle that has interested the intersection from another highway or that is approaching so closely as to be an immediate hazard to the operator's movement in, or across, the intersection.  • An operator approaching an intersection on a roadway that is controlled by a yield sign shall slow to a speed that is reasonable under the existing conditions and yield the right-of-way to a vehicle in the intersection or approaching the intersection. If there is a collision, it is presumed the operator that drove past the yield sign failed to yield the right-of-way.SUBMIT: FortCavazosPAO@gmail.comFACEBOOK: fortcavazosarmy   INSTAGRAM: @fortcavazosarmyTWITTER: @fortcavazosarmy   All music obtained, royalty-free, through Filter by Songtradr: "Gun Metal Grey" - Delicious Allstars; "Learning By Doing" - Niklas Olovso. This podcast is a production of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Cavazos and Fort Cavazos Public Affairs.

Glad to be here. Brian: Yeah, I really appreciate it. How did you end up at this point? How did the whole journey start with you, David? David: Great question. I'm really a visual learner. My wife reads lots of books, her nightstand is piled with books and she just goes through the books. And I get to watch a video I get it. I gotta see physically. Instead of me googling things for answers, I go to YouTube. I call it YouTube University. And it really helped me out and I am preparedness-minded. I feel it's my responsibility as a father and as a husband to provide and protect. I was always looking for solutions and YouTube just seemed like a great place to do that, and I appreciate what others put up. So I thought, well, maybe I should share some of the things that I'm doing. First of all, had to come up with a YouTube name.

https://keywebco.com/blogs/news/website-traffic-tips-and-tricks Website Traffic Tips And Tricks ORGANIC SEARCH Organic search is traffic generated from free search engine results. Anytime someone clicks a non-ad link to your website from a search engine like Google, Bing, or Yahoo, it's categorized as an Organic Search visit in Google Analytics. • Organic Search is usually the most common source of traffic to a website, and most of that traffic comes from Google. • Typically over half of those searches are conducted on mobile devices. • Organic Search is vital to your website's visibility online. Here's how you can get more traffic from searches on Google, Bing, and Yahoo: CREATE QUALITY CONTENT Let's get this one out of the way first: your content must be quality. Quality content provides immediate value to the reader. And value could mean knowledge, entertainment, or inspiration. There's not a set formula for quality content. You have to provide the value. But here are some key characteristics: • Unique & Original • Relatable • Well Organized • Easy to Consume • Provides Insight Listen to your target audience. If they are commenting, sharing, and liking content on social media, you know they find value. And when there's value, there's trust in your business. LONG-FORM CONTENT While it's true that your audience likely has a shorter attention span, the best performing content is long-form. BOOST WEBSITE TRAFFIC: ORGANIC According to Neil Patel, Google, A Moz/BuzzSumo study, HubSpot, and Search Engine Watch, longer content that provides value and satisfies the reader is more effective. The data is clear. Long-form content gets shared more... ...and gets more organic traffic. Think about the questions your audience has or problems they want to solve as a starting point for content ideas. Then, take detailed, deep dives into solving those problems for your audience. Create in-depth blog posts with photos, diagrams, and charts. Shoot for 3,000 words or more. FORMATTING IS IMPERATIVE Your audience wants information quickly. They'll get lost in 3,000 words of 6-sentence paragraphs, formatting will help keep their focus on your content's value. Try these formatting hacks: • Subheadings – help identify the main points of each section and leads readers through the content. • Short sentences – make your sentences short and sweet. Keep it shorter than 10 words when you can. • Short paragraphs – forget what your English teacher taught you. Whitespace helps your reader's eye focus on the screen; 1-3 sentence paragraphs are perfect. • Lists – use bulleted or numbered lists as often as it makes sense. • Bold & italics – use bold and italics to highlight key terms and add emphasis to make your points clear. Stay away from underlining words. This typically signals a link. • Edit, edit, edit – remove all unnecessary (“fluff”) content. Your readers won't return if you waste their time. APPLY SEO BEST PRACTICES Anyone can easily do basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It can get very technical, very quickly ... but don't worry. The concept of SEO is to give Google (or any other search engine) confidence in your content. Google's confidence comes from 2 major areas: 1. Relevance of content 2. Content value Relevance Google understands what your content is about by automatically “reading” every web page on your site and --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/roger-keyserling/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/roger-keyserling/support

Episode #141 - Content Marketing with Jeff Bullas

WP Elevation WordPress Business Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 27, 2017 37:19

Watch the video of this podcast here. Jeff Bullas started out his career as a teacher but his heart wasn’t in it, so he “fired” himself and started to create content about each new tech revolution – PC, web, and now his content is around social media and marketing your business. He was one of the early adopters of blogging in 2009 and practised inbound marketing. He was inspired by the book “The New Rules of Marketing and PR” by David Meerman Scott, as he liked the idea of attracting customers rather than going out to chase them. His blog, which started out as a passion project, has ended up being a huge success that it is today. We urge you to visit jeffbullas.com/bio and check out his long list of bragging rights. He is currently in Forbes’ Top 20 Influencers of CMOs. Blogging Within a Saturated Market With the blogosphere being such a saturated market these days, Troy asks whether Jeff’s success was also a matter of good timing and whether this kind of success is still possible today. Jeff explains that in business, timing is everything but it isn’t impossible to be a success. It requires persistence and needs passion. If you don’t have these things, then it is going to be hard to show up every day. “Look at me- I am one of the oldest social media bloggers on the planet!” Anything is possible! Staying Motivated When There Is No Activity on Your Posts Jeff talks about the social web and how it provides motivation by validating your creation. “That’s why it is important to share your creation with the planet and push it out on social media.” It is also an indicator of what is working and what isn’t. ‘Content marketing' is two words – you have to create good content and then you have to market it; you have to persist. Get your content out there on as many channels as possible such as email, social media and through influencers. Approaching Influencers Troy asks the great question that if Jeff is approached with an article, what would make it a no-brainer for him to share it? Jeff explains that: The content must be good. He simply shares what he likes It must add value to his audience It must be relevant If it takes up too much of his time and they don’t make it easy for him, then he won’t bother with it! Getting Inspired It’s sometimes difficult to stay inspired especially when you aren't seeing the results straight away. But don’t give up peeps! Jeff gives some great advice – It’s not a get rich quick scheme; you need to give it time and it has to be driven by true passion and purpose. Your mindset has to be very much that ‘it is a long game'. You have to have patience and persistence if you want to be a success. He recommends Cal Newport’s book “Deep Work” which talks about how to start your day. For Jeff, he gets up at 4.30am, meditates for 15 minutes, writes, publishes it on social media then goes to work. He also mentions a great quote from Stephen King, “If you want to write a lot, then you need to read a lot.” Creativity comes from reading books that are going to inspire you. Jeff's Content Marketing tips: Build a tribe on Twitter Discover tools to automate sharing your social media posts Create content that is evergreen and doesn’t date easily Post regularly. Jeff posts on Twitter every 15 mins using Agora Pulse which doubles the engagement Create an email list. Jeff continues with his email list because engagement on any platform decreases over time so “you have to keep growing just to stand still”. He uses InfusionSoft which has plugins and add-ons which are used by most of the top bloggers in the world. It isn’t very user-friendly though, so you may want to look into other options like: Marketo for bigger businesses ClickFunnels for small to medium businesses. MailChimp if you’re starting out so you don’t over complicate it How to Get the Information out to as Many People in Your Niche as Possible Ask yourself the question ‘Who is in front of your target audience?' For example, you might want to talk to the person who provides software to your niche and do a deal with them. Where Does Jeff’s Business Come From? He says that having multiple revenue streams is important. Ad revenue is outdated now so they use influencer marketing projects, sponsorship, speaking, helping people on content and courses, and a blogging course which they sell. At the end of the day though, he says that people just want to learn from people who are doing and not the people who are just talking about it. He is simply learning how to be an entrepreneur and sharing his journey along the way. What Is the Best Converting Lead Magnet That Jeff Has Ever Produced? Jeff tells us that ‘101+ Traffic Tips to Grow Your Website Traffic Without Paying Google or Facebook a Cent' started as a blog which became so popular that he made into a 55-page E-book. Genius!
